Locked On Patriots Hit - Quick Takes on the New England Patriots

AJ Brown rises under pressure, turning heads in Patriots training camp with impressive plays against elite corners like Sauce Gardner during joint practices with the Indianapolis Colts. Drake Maye, showing surprising poise and growing chemistry with Brown, has already started spreading the ball to weapons like Romeo Doubs, Hunter Henry, and rookie Eli Raridan, adding dimension to New England’s offensive attack. Rhamondre Stevenson continues to showcase his underrated value in the passing game, connecting for a touchdown and hinting at a more dynamic Patriots offense this season. However, Maye isn’t without development moments, including a late underthrow that resulted in an interception by Colts safety Cam Bynum. Can the Patriots’ offense maintain momentum as preseason action ramps up, and will Maye’s adaptability define the next phase of this promising unit? Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Who are the five New England Patriots I’m MOST excited to watch during the 2026 NFL season? TreVeyon Henderson kicks off the countdown as he enters Year 2 with a chance to take a major step forward. Pop Douglas continues to make plays in a loaded Patriots WR room featuring AJ Brown and Romeo Doubs. Christian Gonzalez remains one of the NFL’s most underrated cornerbacks, and Drake Maye gets an opportunity to prove last season’s Super Bowl run was only the beginning. But Maye ISN’T No. 1. That spot belongs to Rhamondre Stevenson. Stevenson might be one of the most slept-on running backs in football, and with New England investing heavily in its offensive line, he could be positioned for a massive 2026 season. I was skeptical about the New England Patriots trading a future first-round pick for AJ Brown. I’m starting to admit I was wrong. AJ Brown looks rejuvenated in New England, and his early chemistry with Drake Maye could completely change the Patriots offense. Whether they’re talking through routes and coverages or simply building a relationship on the sideline, we’re already seeing why New England was willing to pay such a massive price to get him. And there’s another Patriots concern I’m not buying: offensive tackle. Will Campbell continues to get criticized after an injury-plagued rookie season, but the combination of Campbell, Caleb Lomu and veteran Morgan Moses could leave New England in a much better position than people think. Add in Josh McDaniels’ offense, Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson, and there are multiple ways for the Patriots to make life easier on the offensive line while protecting Drake Maye. The AJ Brown trade is looking better — and I’m not panicking about Will Campbell. #Patriots #NewEnglandPatriots #AJBrown #DrakeMaye #WillCampbell #NFL Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! As the New England Patriots prepare for a pivotal joint practice and preseason matchup against the Indianapolis Colts, all eyes turn to standout rookie tight end Eli Raridon. With highlight-reel catches and growing buzz from both Drake Maye and NFL insiders, Eli Raridon's first test against a non-Patriots defense could set the tone for his rookie campaign. Can he accelerate his transition into the league and make a convincing case for significant snaps behind veteran Hunter Henry? Meanwhile, questions simmer on the interior offensive line, with Ben Brown under the spotlight to prove he belongs after an underwhelming training camp. Backup quarterback Tommy DeVito faces mounting pressure, not only to be ready behind Drake Maye but to spark competition among receivers and tight ends battling for final roster spots. The New England Patriots face major questions surrounding Kayshon Boutte, Drake Maye and one of the NFL’s deepest wide receiver groups heading into the 2026 season. Will the Patriots keep Boutte in New England, commit to him long term, or explore a potential trade? Kayshon Boutte’s future has quickly become one of the biggest Patriots storylines of training camp. Keeping Boutte would give Drake Maye another proven weapon alongside AJ Brown and a talented New England Patriots receiving corps. But with questions about Boutte’s future contract and potential trade value, the Patriots front office has a major decision to make. Meanwhile, AJ Brown appears rejuvenated in New England, bringing energy and excitement to the Patriots offense as he builds chemistry with Drake Maye. On defense, Christian Gonzalez is generating another major Patriots debate after Pro Football Focus ranked him as just the No. 8 cornerback in the NFL entering the 2026 season. Gonzalez ranked 12th in pass coverage grade, fourth in pass breakups and fourth in passer rating allowed as a primary coverage defender last season. Despite those numbers, PFF placed several cornerbacks ahead of the Patriots star, including Devin Witherspoon, Sauce Gardner and Pat Surtain II. Is Christian Gonzalez already one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL? And what should the New England Patriots do with Kayshon Boutte? We break down the latest Patriots news, Kayshon Boutte trade speculation, Drake Maye’s receiving weapons, AJ Brown’s impact and the Christian Gonzalez PFF ranking as New England prepares for the 2026 NFL season.
