Locked On Sun Devils - Daily Podcast On Arizona State Sun Devils Football & Basketball

To begin the Kenny Dillingham era, the offensive-minded head coach went and grabbed four-star quarterback Jaden Rashada to become the future of the Arizona State Sun Devils football program. Rashada was the seventh-ranked quarterback out of Pittsburg High School in Pittsburg, California, and a top-100 recruit in the country. He will come to Arizona State, where his father, Harlen Rashada played ball in the 90s and face the challenge of living up to his expectations. Between a cannon attached to his right arm and the mobility to become a lethal dual threat, Rashada checks nearly every box you look for in the modern quarterback. The question now is how quickly will he reach these expectations and reach his full potential. Maybe even more importantly, how quickly can he make an impact as a freshman? Host Richie Bradshaw discusses the wonder boy that is Jaden Rashada and likens him to another familiar Sun Devils quarterback, plus we predict his stats on this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast.

Kenny Dillingham and the Arizona State Sun Devils football program has a great and also worrisome situation at quarterback with quite a few guys who can start. Drew Pyne was the prized transfer from Notre Dame that had the fans buzzing when he committed to the program. He will enter training camp with perhaps the best chance to be the week one starter thanks to being a battle-tested player with a safer, higher floor than his peers. The question becomes how well will Pyne adapt to a new system with new guys to play with. Dillingham's system has shown it can work for quarterbacks with Pyne's style and this could perhaps lead to a solid year for him even in his first season in the desert. Host Richie Bradshaw thinks Pyne is a safe bet for a solid season and discusses why Pyne could be a great transfer for the team, plus we predict his stats on this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast.

What will become of the quarterback position for Arizona State Sun Devils football in 2023? There appear to be three main contenders to start for the Sun Devils in year one of the Kenny Dillingham era - Trenton Bourguet, Drew Pyne, and Jaden Rashada. We will be breaking down each quarterback this week, but we start with Bourguet. The former walk-on and senior quarterback has spent his entire career at Arizona State and got his chance to shine last year in relief for Emory Jones. Bourguet looked the part and is now a favorite to start the year. Between his rock-solid play in 2022 and his established chemistry with guys like Elijhah Badger and Jalin Conyers, Bourguet could be in for a breakout senior season and follow in the footsteps of guys like Mike Bercovici and Jake Plummer. Host Richie Bradshaw breaks all of this down and predicts his stats on this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast.

Outside of the players that we have been focusing on, the Arizona State Sun Devils football team has a surplus of talented players scattered throughout the rest of the offense that we need to keep an eye out for. The running back position still needs a no.2 guy behind Cameron Skattebo and Tevin White, DeCarlos Brooks, and Javen Jacobs will compete for that role. At wide receiver, Troy Omeire stands out as a talented and high-upside option to monitor, although we can't overlook others like Andre Johnson, Melquan Stovall, Jake Smith, and others. And then we have the tight end position, where although Jalin Conyers stands alone as TE1, his teammates Messiah Swinson and Bryce Pierre could stun fans in 2023. Host Richie Bradshaw breaks down all these guys and why they could still have important roles for the Arizona State Sun Devils football program under Kenn Dillingham in 2023 on this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast.

The Arizona State Sun Devils football program has had quite the run on transfer running backs the last few years. Rachaad White has a transcendent player who wound up being a third-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft and Xazavian Valladay would set records for the program last season. Now, Sacramento State running back and reigning Big-Sky Offensive Player of the Year Cameron Skattebo looks to be the next in line for transfer running backs to Arizona State University. The former Hornet was beyond dynamic in his two seasons with the program and showed off that same explosive play during spring ball for the Sun Devils. The question now is whether or not he can keep it up at a Power Five school, but we feel like he can do just that. Host Richie Bradshaw breaks down why Skattebo could be Arizona State Sun Devils football's next great transfer running back and predicts his stats on this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast.

Arizona State Sun Devils football has some exciting weapons on offense heading into 2023, but perhaps none more so than tight end Jalin Conyers. Conyers exploded onto the scene in the second half of the 2022 season and has done nothing to show signs of slowing down since then. The redshirt junior looked like the best player on the field during spring practices and his hype is at an all-time high. The question isn't about whether or not Conyers will b good in 2023, but rather if he'll be elite and cross superstardom in 2023. Host Richie Bradshaw shares his love for the tight end with some stat predictions and who he'll compete with in the PAC-12 and the country this year on this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast.

An abundance of talent at the wide receiver position for Arizona State Sun Devils football could lead to reduced and inconsistent roles for some of the guys on this offense. However, when it comes to the role of slot receiver it should be Giovanni Sanders' spot to lose. Sanders broke out in 2022 with a 40-catch season for 500 yards, both of which were second on the team. He returns for one last season in Tempe and will be looking to build off a successful season a year ago and propel himself to the next level. But could his role be reduced behind some of the other talented receivers for Arizona State? Host Richie Bradshaw breaks down why Sanders should still have a significant role in the offense and predicts his stats on this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast.

Arizona State Sun Devils football has an abundance of talent at the wide receiver position heading into 2023, but how many deep threats does the team possess? There are tons of options to fancy, but one player stands out amongst the rest of them - Jordyn Tyson. The Colorado transfer averaged over 21 yards per reception in 2022 and is a player who personally crushed the Sun Devils in Boulder to make it an interesting game. He now joins the team he exposed and looks like a player who may find a role early in his career at Arizona State. Between Tyson's deep speed, playmaking ability, and even some return man prowess, host Richie Bradshaw is a big fan. Join us as we discuss Tyson's potential role for the team and some stat predictions on this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast.

To say the Arizona State Sun Devils football program has enjoyed success with transfers in the last decade would be an understatement, especially at the wide receiver position. Jaelen Strong and Brandon Aiyuk stand out as the best of the crop and set the bar very high for the successors. Xavier Guillory will look to join them as playmaking transfers for the Sun Devils. Guillory spent the last three years as a big-time threat for the Idaho State Bengals and is already standing out for the Sun Devils in his audition for the same role and the team's WR2 behind Elijhah Badger. Host Richie Bradshaw is a big fan of Guillory and believes in him to become that no.2 receiver in the offense. Join us as we talk Guillory and predict his highs and lows for his main receiving stats on this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast.

The Arizona State Sun Devils will roll into 2023 with one of the most underrated wide receiver rooms in the PAC-12 conference. The team has a plethora of talented players who bring all sorts of different skills to the table and calling it exciting would be an understatement. Elijhah Badger will enter the year as the Sun Devils' number-one receiver and he's generating hype we haven't seen for a handful of years. Coming off a 70 catch 866 yards season, Badger will be shooting for his first 1,000 season with Arizona State and overall top his totals from a year ago. While we don't know much about this offense between play calling, quarterbacks, and usage of everyone else, Badger looks like one of the constants here. Host Richie Bradshaw makes his predictions for the best-case and worst-case scenarios for Badger as well as his final predictions and any potential awards for the redshirt junior on this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast.
