Locked On Sun Devils - Daily Podcast On Arizona State Sun Devils Football & Basketball episodes

  • Final preview of 2022 Arizona State Sun Devils football matchup vs Eastern Michigan Eagles!

We are 24 hours away from kickoff for Arizona State Sun Devils football! It's week three of the 2022 season and the final game of the schedule before the Sun Devils begin PAC-12 conference play against some pretty talented teams including the Utah Utes and USC Trojans. But first, Arizona State needs to take care of business at home against the Eastern Michigan Eagles football program. The Eagles currently sit at 1-1 on the year, but this will be their first game of the season against a Power Five school, and the Sun Devils, despite a 1-1 start to the 2022 season, have shown the ability to be a rock-solid competitor. Eastern Michigan will be relying on its offense to put up points behind quarterback Taylor Powell's arm, but their starting quarterback and his weapons like Samson Evans and David Drummond have been inconsistent in their first two games of the year. That does not bode well for an Arizona State Sun Devils football defense that's playing with confidence and swagger behind the performances of Kyle Soelle, Nesta Jade Silvera, Chris Edmonds, and co. Defensively, the Eagles will have their hands full with a unit lacking a true difference-maker while the Sun Devils have superstars like Xavavian Valladay ready to dominate. If Emory Jones can take his next step forward as a passer and firmly establish some chemistry with his weapons, then the Sun Devils may finally be able to field a complete offense capable of scoring in more ways than one. Tune in to this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast and listen to host Richie Bradshaw's breakdown of how the Arizona State Sun Devils football program wins this game offensively and defensively, plus some bold predictions and a final score!

  • Fixing Arizona State Sun Devils football before hopping into PAC-12 conference play

There's always room to make changes and fix flaws on your team. Quite frankly, there's never a wrong time to do this. That's why we aren't afraid to come up with "fixes" to Arizona State Sun Devils football even just two games into the 2022 season. Already there are some significant flaws with this Sun Devils football team and the fixes for them are much simpler than one may think. Offensively, the protection from the offensive line needs improvement. An uptick in play from the offensive line can create a massive improvement to the offense entirely; more so than you might think. Defensively, the Sun Devils need to start finishing their plays. This is especially true in the sack department, where Arizona State has yet to record a single sack on the season. The team's inability to sack the quarterback will be the Achille's heel of this defense if it doesn't get fixed soon. And then, of course, enough is enough with the penalties! Host Richie Bradshaw gives his thoughts on all of this and more for this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast.

  • Assessing celebrations, improvements, and goals for Arizona State Sun Devils football after loss to Oklahoma State

While our first instinct following a loss is to be pessimistic, there are still things we need to celebrate that the team did right. In the case of Arizona State Sun Devils football following a 34-17 loss to the #11 ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys in Stillwater, Oklahoma, we would be quick to point out the decisions that led to the loss, such as the poor pass protection, the inability to record sacks, and even more so the frustration that was the week's game script. However, we need to recognize some of the things the Sun Devils did well during this game, such as running the football (again), having some secondary targets in the passing attack step up when no one else could, and quite frankly giving this defense the respect it deserves for a performance far better than the box score indicates. We take all this into account these celebrations and improvements needed here and host Richie Bradshaw comes up with three goals for Arizona State Sun Devils football as the team prepares to return home for a game against the Eastern Michigan Eagles this weekend on this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast.

  • Arizona State Sun Devils football drops game vs Oklahoma State Cowboys 34-17: Assessing the loss

We all knew going into Saturday's game in Stillwater, Oklahoma against the Oklahoma State Cowboys football program was going to be anything but a cakewalk for the Arizona State Sun Devils football program. The Cowboys were one win away from a Big-12 title a year ago and entered the game as the #11 ranked team in the nation. The Sun Devils needed to be on their A-game if they planned on pulling off a major upset. Unfortunately, that did not end up being the case, as Arizona State dropped the game 34-17 to Oklahoma State. It was a frustrating loss, to say the least. The offense was unable to capitalize on the numerous chances that its defense gave it which in turn left the defense out to dry and at that point, there's only so much an exhausted defense can do against a high-powered offense captained by Spencer Sanders. Whether it was the inability to score points or convert third downs on offense or the defense's inability to finish sacks and avoid its prowess for dumb penalties, Arizona State ultimately sealed its own fate in a very winnable game. Listen in as host Richie Bradshaw breaks down this Arizona State Sun Devils football loss with a little bit of frustration, but a whole lot of truth on this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast.

  • Final preview of 2022 Arizona State Sun Devils football road matchup vs Oklahoma State Cowboys!

It's game day, Sun Devils fans! The Arizona State Sun Devils football program has what could be its biggest challenge of the 2022 season in just week two of its schedule, as the team heads to Stillwater, Oklahoma to face off against the #11 Oklahoma State Cowboys football program. Led by senior quarterback Spencer Sanders, the Cowboys' offense is capable of putting up big numbers in the box score and the scoreboard behind Sanders's arm talent and mobility. The Sun Devils will have trouble containing Sanders and the OSU offense. Things don't get much easier on the defensive side of the ball for Arizona State, either, as reigning Big-12 defensive freshman of the year Collin Oliver leads a dynamic pass rush capable of giving Arizona State's offense 60 minutes of hell on earth. Will Emory Jones and co. be enough to get this win on the road against a top-11 opponent in the nation? Host Richie Bradshaw breaks down what the Sun Devils offense and defense must do for victory as well as some bold predictions and a final score we hope is wrong for this game day edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast!

  • Locked On Big 12 host Josh Neighbors joins to talk Arizona State Sun Devils football vs Oklahoma State

With the Arizona State Sun Devils football team set to travel down to Stillwater, Oklahoma this weekend to take on Oklahoma State Cowboys football, the host of Locked On Big 12, Josh Neighbors, joins Locked On Sun Devils host Richie Bradshaw to go into detail on what Sun Devils fans need to know heading into this week's game. Arizona State will have its hand full against this Oklahoma State offense. With Spencer Sanders taking charge of the Cowboys' offense and entering the prime of his career, OSU should be confident that it can throw up 30+ points any week. With tons of weapons at his disposal like Braydon Johnson, Brennan Presley, and Dominic Richardson, the Cowboys' offense is as potent as they come. Defensively, OSU is replacing a lot of veteran talent as well as defensive coordinator Jim Knowles, so the unit is a work in progress. Nonetheless, Big 12 freshman of the year Collin Oliver is an absolute beast of a pass rusher and will give the Sun Devils a hell of a hard time for 60 minutes. All in all, this Oklahoma State Cowboys football program is a daunting challenge for the Arizona State Sun Devils football team, but could the Sun Devils pull off a miracle upset? Check out what Richie and Josh have to say about the matchup on this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast.

  • Assessing celebrations, improvements, and goals for Arizona State Sun Devils football following victory over NAU

There was plenty to be happy about for the Arizona State Sun Devils football program following its 40-3 domination over the NAU Lumberjacks last Thursday, which gives us plenty to celebrate and appreciate moving forward. Between the powerful rushing attack, the discipline on defense, and the exceptional special teams' performance, we have little to complain about. Of course, there are some things to work and improve on, even if it feels like some nitpicking, from the game. Can we expect the passing game to take a step forward? Can we trust guys to finish plays and not miss as many tackles? We saw an improvement in the penalty department, but will this be the norm for 2022 or will there be regression? Most importantly, we need to take the good and the bad from this game and create some goals for the Arizona State Sun Devils football program headed into its matchup against the Oklahoma State Cowboys in Stillwater, Oklahoma this weekend. Listen in as host Richie Bradshaw breaks down the game by listing celebrations, improvements, and goals for the Arizona State Sun Devils football team after its win against the NAU Lumberjacks on this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast!

  • Arizona State Sun Devils football starts 2022 with 40-3 win over NAU Lumberjacks! Assessing the win

You can't start off your season any better than 1-0, but the Arizona State Sun Devils football team exceeded our expectations for its opening game of the college football 2022 season! The Sun Devils took the NAU Lumberjacks football team behind the woodshed on Thursday night to the tune of a 40-3 victory and both sides of the ball looked incredibly efficient and deadly. Offensively, Emory Jones was everything Sun Devils fans had hoped for, as the transfer quarterback completed over 70% of his passes and scored two touchdowns on the ground. Speaking of the ground game, the team accumulated 267-yards and four total touchdowns led by Xazavian Valladay and his 115-yard, two-touchdown outing. The passing game looked confident with fine performances from Andre Johnson and Messiah Swinson. Defensively, Arizona State played nearly flawless football, including two interceptions by Chris Edmonds and Kyle Soelle. Merlin Robertson dazzled in the final opening game of his Arizona State Sun Devils football career. The secondary played well in what Herm Edwards described as "vanilla" coverages, but it leaves some hope that they can continue to improve moving forward. Even special teams looked good with Carter Brown going 4/4 on both his field goal and PATs for a complete performance for the Arizona State Sun Devils in week one of the 2022 season. Check out host Richie Bradshaw's breakdown of the Sun Devils' first win of 2022 and hand out three game balls on this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast!
