Locked On Suns - Daily Podcast On The Phoenix Suns

What happens if the Suns drafted Luka Doncic at No. 1 overall? How different is Phoenix in 2020 where Doncic has ascended to MVP contender?

Ayton has fared well for himself, but the adjustment for bigs in today’s NBA is more steeper than primary ball handlers. Would the fit with Booker and Doncic not be as smooth?

Also, Igor Kokoskov likely stays on as head coach with Doncic on the roster. Would Kokoskov’s scheme have actually worked with two great playmakers on the roster?

Jayson Tatum was dead set on joining the Phoenix Suns during the pre-draft process. However, the Suns’ front office felt there were better options.

As we all know, Tatum ended up in Boston. Meanwhile, the Suns selected Josh Jackson at No. 4 overall one selection after Tatum. What happens to Phoenix’s rebuild if Tatum takes Jackson's place?

We dive deep from all angles into how the Tatum and Devin Booker pairing would’ve changed the short and long-term hopes for Phoenix.

With The Last Dance captivating sports fans everywhere, we revisit just how daring it was for the Suns to up the ante by trading for Charles Barkley during the peak of the Bulls’ dynasty. What went into that decision, and should they have tried so hard at a title with Michael Jordan at his peak?

Two decades later, with the Warriors cresting, the Suns tanked, avoiding any chance at competing with Golden State by cashing in on top-five picks every year. But did Ryan McDonough go far enough?

Last, which dynasty combat strategy was more effective and why?

We are joined by first-year Northern Arizona Suns general manager Jeff Feld to discuss his career so far, how his relationship with James Jones helped him land the Suns job, and what year one was like as NAZ GM.

Feld discusses how the Phoenix and NAZ front offices are integrated, how the G League affiliate is proceeding into its offseason, and how he sees the Suns using the G League going forward after success with several rookies this year.

Feld also goes in-depth on the development of Jalen Lecque, why shooting is still so important for Lecque’s growth, and his expectations that Lecque remains mostly in the G League next season as well.

On today’s episode, we give you the latest updates on when the NBA could return. There’s even a chance of regular season games (that means more Suns basketball!) being played out instead of going straight to the playoffs.

ESPN this week provided a blueprint for where and how this could all work out. Is the NBA heading to Disney World soon?

And if there are regular season games, what does that mean for the Suns?

SB Nation’s own Michael Pina stopped by the show today to discuss a litany of topics with us. From the Suns’ bright future to how teams go about developing team chemistry, a lot of good nuggets littered throughout this one.

Pina recently wrote a tremendous story on the Suns, looking at how they are finally starting to show improvement after years of stagnation. Led by Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton plus Ricky Rubio’s studying presence, Phoenix is finally moving up, but what does Ayton’s true ceiling look like?

We close talking through Michael’s feature story on team chemistry in the Association. What were his biggest takeaways after writing it? Finally, what will the NBA look like when it resumes after COVID-19?

We begin Best Moments in Franchise History Week on the Locked On NBA Network by revisiting three ground-shaking moments for the Suns. Dave King of Bright Side of the Sun joins to help us sift through Suns history.

First, Tom Chambers becoming the NBA’s first unrestricted free agent and choosing Kevin Johnson and the Suns. Then, Gar Heard’s fateful turnaround jumper that would become sealed in history as “The Shot Heard ‘Round The World.”

We close by talking about the chain reaction that led to Steve Nash signing with Phoenix as a free agent in 2004, and all that changed when Nash arrived.

What’s going to happen once the league is back from its current hiatus? Will we even have playoff games still, or just restart in 2020-21?

Early Bird Rights’ Jeff Siegel joined the show to dissect where the league could go. Should the schedule change to a December start time permanently moving forward?

We give our predictions if we see NBA basketball again this season, and in what type of environment expected without any fans, plus how it all could affect the Suns’ offseason.
