Locked On Suns - Daily Podcast On The Phoenix Suns

After being acquired on draft night, expectations were raised for Dario Saric’s tenure in Phoenix. Did Saric live up to the billing? Kellan Olson of Arizona Sports joined to talk through Saric’s biggest positives and negatives negatives as well as what could come next for the Croatian big man.

Was the Saric trade a success landing Cameron Johnson via trade-back, even though he might be gone one year later?

We talk through that, plus quick hits on Saric’s best position and what teams he makes sense with for the 2020-21 season.

We are joined once again Suns beat reporter Gina Mizell of The Athletic, as Gina helps us break down the 2019-20 season for Aron Baynes.

Baynes was a Most Improved Player Candidate over the first two weeks of the season, then struggled with injuries. The high points for Baynes were some of the most exciting of the year, and his leadership and guidance in the locker room was helpful throughout.

What does it all mean for Baynes’ free agency, and how the Suns should think about his future with the team?

Kevin Zimmerman is back to help us break down Bridges’ season, who has more trade value between Bridges and Kelly Oubre Jr., and whether Bridges will remain the starter by next season.

Stay tuned for the rest of our player profile series through the end of next week!

Wondering how all the changes to the season affect free agency and your experience as a fan? We run through all the ways the NBA will change as a result of the continued suspension of play during the United States’ response to COVID-19.

The season is expected to resume in some form this summer, but what will that mean for teams’ spending power? It’s far from the most important aspect of the crisis, but various reports have the salary cap trending quite a bit downward — how might that affect the Suns during the offseason?

Dave King joins for part two of our conversation to break it all down with us.

On today’s episode, Part I of our conversation with Bright Side Of The Sun’s own Dave King is here. We go over all of the following: the Olympics being postponed, a potential December-August NBA schedule, and Bright Side’s COVID-19 donation relief fund.

How will the likely postponement of the Olympics impact players like Aron Baynes and Ricky Rubio? Could less wear and tear equal more refreshed veterans for the 2020-21 season with the Suns?

This is a fun conversation with Dave, and it’s only going to continue into Part II, so look forward to that on Wednesday!

We finish off our mailbag questions from last week, which features plenty of free agency talk. Are Christian Wood and D.J. Augustin possible options to fill Phoenix’s biggest needs?

Also, with Dario Saric’s lack of success, will the Suns prioritize defense over shooting at power forward alongside Deandre Ayton?

We also were asked about classic film recommendations and Brendon had to admit how few sports movies he’s seen. Maybe a few episodes coming in the future on that note.

On today’s episode, Kellan Olson of Arizona Sports hangs out with us as we start to sift through the Suns’ offseason. We chat about how we’re passing the time cooped up in our homes, then dive into some fun Suns talk.

Ending our top moments week here on Locked On Suns, Kellan mentions a few of his favorites as well. Then, we discuss whether the Suns will keep Dario Saric and Aron Baynes around past this season. Baynes is the higher priority, but what’s an appropriate price tag?

Kellan also provides an early glimpse into who his favorite Suns draft target is. This player would be a great fit alongside Deandre Ayton.

It’s finally time to talk through our top three, as we conclude a fun series!

From Devin Booker’s magic in the fourth quarter on multiple occasions to a few signature victories and franchise morale boosters, there are lots of great memories to reminisce on in Part III.

It’s hard not to mention Monty Williams picking the Suns over the Los Angeles Lakers to be their head coach. Booker finally donning an All-Star jersey brought a smile to all Suns fans, too.
