Locked On Suns - Daily Podcast On The Phoenix Suns

On today’s episode of Locked On Suns live from Talking Stick Resort Arena, we recapped the Phoenix Suns’ 124-121 loss to the Washington Wizards. Even though Devin Booker has scored 109 points over his last two games, it unfortunately hasn’t ended with the Suns as winners.

That doesn’t take away from the best stretch of Booker’s career, though. Are we seeing peak Booker, and what does this mean for next season?

Outside of Booker’s scorching hot scoring binge, Dragan Bender, Deandre Ayton and Troy Daniels also chipped in solid outings to give Phoenix a chance at the end to send it to overtime.

Let’s also not forget that a legitimate media company actually asked the question in 2019 whether Booker is actually good at this sport or not. What a way to prove that notion wrong by dropping 50 once more.

We dig into Devin Booker’s career night, showcasing the growth he’s made on offense in his masterpiece — 59 points on 34 shots.

We talk about what Booker has added to his game, why this game was more impressive than his 70 in Boston in 2017, and finally what was going on with Jimmer Fredette in the fourth quarter.

We preview free agency for Kelly Oubre Jr., whose addition was the turning point in the Suns’ season, as well as Richaun Holmes, whose energy and hard work was a huge culture-setter in the big man rotation this year.

Is Oubre going to get Josh Richardson money or Aaron Gordon money? The answer will affect the Suns’ future flexibility in a big way. Plus, did Alex Len’s contract coincidentally set the market for Holmes when Len left Phoenix?

We look out to the summer before bringing it back to the spring, where NBA Draft prospects are duking it out in March Madness.

We react and analyze the rumors from The New York Times regarding the Suns’ ongoing search for new front office veterans that reportedly includes Kevin McHale and Jim Paxson already. McHale is the obvious frontrunner here.

Then, we discuss how realistic it seems that the Suns actually move on from Igor Kokoskov after one year based on their interest in Luke Walton, as reported by The Sporting News.

Finally, a prediction for the remaining nine games on the Suns’ schedule.

We go over the Suns’ 118-98 loss to the Detroit Pistons live from Talking Stick Resort Arena, which included notable outings headlined by Devin Booker and Mikal Bridges.

After rummaging through our main takeaways from Phoenix’s latest defeat, we dived head-first into the Ja Morant discussion. Following a triple-double in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, Morant Mania is about to hit its peak from a local perspective.

However, we have seen some try to say Morant is the No. 1 prospect in the 2019 Draft. That is unfortunately incorrect, and we advise everyone in the Phoenix market to please not start a prospect debate involving Zion Williamson versus Morant.

Finally, we gave our final thoughts on the Morant hype train by throwing out this hypothetical scenario: Select the Murray State point guard at No. 2 overall or trade his rights for someone like Jrue Holiday?

We celebrate the return of Jimmer Mania to the NBA in perfect timing for the start of the NCAA Tournament and what it means for the Suns. Is Tyler Johnson being shut down? Will we see less of De’Anthony Melton?

Then, we explore examples of the Suns’ success when it comes to player development this season under Igor Kokoskov.

Finally, a tank race update and we tell you what James Jones said about T.J. Warren on Wednesday.

On today’s episode of Locked On Suns live from Talking Stick Resort Arena, we recapped the Suns’ surprising 116-101 blowout defeat at the hands of the Chicago Bulls.

Deandre Ayton and Devin Booker combined for 50 points and 20 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough as others around them didn’t really step up to fill scoring voids.

Starting three rookies, and playing their first game without Kelly Oubre Jr. since he’s been in Phoenix, that wavy energy seemed to be the missing spark. From the beginning, the Suns came out flat and really never were able to recover.

We also quickly went over the surprising end of game incident between Igor Kokoskov and Jim Boylen to wrap things up.

With three games now separating Phoenix from the No. 4 spot in the reverse standings, having a share of the top odds at Zion Williamson likely locked in now seems to be the silver lining to take away from this one.

We return to our usual recap format to take you through what you need to know from the Suns’ 108-102 loss to the Rockets on Friday night.

With Tyler Johnson inactive, it was the Devin Booker, Kelly Oubre Jr. and Deandre Ayton show, and the Suns stayed close.

Yet Jamal Crawford remained in the rotation despite De’Anthony Melton being healthy and needing another chance to get playing time heading into the summer.

We break it all down.
