Long Story Short with Megan and Wendy: The Podcast

Because it was so fun, Megan and Wendy are back again to review and recap Hallmark Channel's New Year, New Movies! In today's bonus episode, the girls have a lot to say about Taking a Shot at Love. Find out what they liked about it, what they wished would have been different, their favorite segment "Did You See That?" and, brand new for 20201, a new segment called "Uh-Oh!" Email the show at [email protected]

Taking a Shot at Love stars Alexa PenaVega and Luke Macfarlane. Can Jenna (PenaVega) help rehab a professional hockey player's injury (Macfarlane) with ballet?

News and Notes for Taking a Shot at Love

This Hallmark Channel movie debuted in January 2021 as one of the New Year, New Movies. Taking a Shot at Loved was filmed in Canada but was set in the real-life town of Avon, CT.

Fun Fact: Avon, CT was named the third-safest town in America in 2005. This makes sense now why Jenna can leave a key to her home under her doormat all the time!

The movie's writer, Julie Wolf, actually lives in Avon, CT.

It's a battle of 90's teenage television stars in this week's Girls Gone Christmas episode of the podcast! Megan and Wendy recap two Hallmark Channel Christmas movies: Love, Lights, Hanukah and Christmas Comes Twice. Want more Hallmark movie reviews in 2021? Email us at [email protected] and tell us if we should continue these bonus podcast episodes!

Love, Lights, Hanukah stars Ben Savage (Boy Meets World) in his debut Hallmark movie! This movie also features Mia Kirshner as Christina who recently learns she is half Jewish after taking a DNA test. As luck has it, Christina quickly connects with a DNA relative but is shocked to find her biological mother in the process. How will being half-Jewish affect her long standing Christmas traditions? And will her new love interest (Ben Savage) eat his words after tasting Christina's famous lasagne?

Christmas Comes Twice stars Tamera Mowry-Housley (Sister, Sister) who time travels five years in the past after riding a magical carousel at the annual Christmas carnival. Guys? To be honest, Wendy fell asleep during this one and relies heavily on Megan's recap of what happens when Cheryl (Tamera Mowry-Housley) reconnects with an old Science rival.

Megan and Wendy welcome podcast guest LaShawn Wiltz to recap and review Hallmark Channel's fourth installment in the Christmas in Evergreen series. Will wedding bells ring in Christmas in Evergreen: Bells Are Ringing or are the bells they are talking about actually hand bells? How will Megan and Wendy rate this 2020 Hallmark Channel Christmas movie starring Holly Robinson Peete, Rukiya Bernard, and Antonio Cayonne with a cameo from Ashley Williams.

As Michelle's (Holly Robinson Peete) wedding day approaches, she finds herself overwhelmed with her Mayoral duties and finishing the launch of Evergreen's Christmas museum. Luckily, Hannah (Rukiya Bernard) finds time between leading the choir and helping at the Tinker Shop to take charge of the museum's Christmas Eve grand opening. But, will Hannah's interest in the museum pull her away from love interest Elliott and his dream of expanding the Tinker Shop in Boston? Will the weather turn Michelle's wedding into a Zoom wedding? And out of nowhere, will Jeb Cooper's return ruin the Christmas Eve festivities?

There is a whole lot to unpack in Evergreen.
