This is our panel Romance: Those Ships Also Belong in Star Wars presented at the Star Wars University at Celebration on April 14th 2019.

In today's episode we look at the argument that having a romance somehow degrades female heroes or female main characters. Spoiler alert: we disagree.

We discuss how a romantic arc with Kylo Ren would enhance Rey's story, and disagree with criticism that a romance would detract from her heroine's journey. Towards the end we talk a little bit about female superheroes and discuss Patty Jenkins' amazing quote about romance for female heroes.
