From the plague-ridden depths of the Plague Planet, Mortarion's sons continue their endless war against the Imperium, spreading disease, decay, and despair across the galaxy. But the Death Guard of the 41st Millennium are more than bloated warriors and diseased war machines. They are a Legion that has endured the collapse of empires, the death of worlds, and the passage of ages, emerging from every catastrophe more resilient and more corrupted than before. In this episode, we explore the Death Guard after the Great Scouring, from the rise of the Plague Companies and the spread of the vectoriums to the grim hierarchy, wargear, vehicles, diseases, and daemonic forces that allow Mortarion's Legion to continue its slow, inevitable advance into the darkness of the 41st Millennium. In this episode, we explore their origins as the Dusk Raiders of Old Albia, their transformation under the grim rule of Mortarion, and the brutal doctrine that made them masters of attritional warfare. From the toxic world of Barbarus to the battlefields of Isstvan, Prospero, and Terra, we follow the Legion's rise, their unwavering loyalty to their Primarch, and the tragic chain of events that condemned them to Nurgle's embrace. Join us as we examine the organisation, culture, wargear, campaigns, and philosophy of one of the Horus Heresy's most iconic Legions, before disease became their greatest weapon and eternal curse.Lorehammer Patreonhttps://www.patreon.com/c/lorehammer/membershipOne Time Donationshttps://paypal.me/lorehammerpodcastLink to all Linkshttps://linktr.ee/Lorehammer40k

From the opening betrayals at Isstvan to the poisoned corridors of the Terminus Est and the blood-soaked walls of the Imperial Palace, this episode follows Mortarion through the Horus Heresy and his tragic fall into damnation. We explore his loyalty to Horus, the corruption of the Death Guard, his confrontation with Jaghatai Khan, the bargain that bound him to Nurgle, and his transformation into the Daemon Primarch of the XIV Legion. Once a warrior who sought to destroy tyrants and eradicate sorcery, Mortarion's greatest battle became the one he could never win, against the darkness within himself.
