Lost Map Podcast

Hooray. It’s another episode of the Lost Map Podcast! LAURA opens today’s show with some light mastication, before indulging into full-on manifestation. What does that mean? Who knows, but PICTISH TRAIL is near by to mop up the juice with his super-dry chat about tax thresholds.

Thankfully there’s also some music. We’ve got tunes from MARTHA FFION, MARANTA plus the exclusive first play of the debut single from new collective band LOST MAP presents WEIRD WAVE.

This month’s featured interview is with Walthamstow’s shoegaze “unhappy slowcore” merchants, FIRESTATIONS. Mike, Laura and Martin talks us through the birth of the band, the songwriting process, and the making of their new album, Thick Terrain - which is out 14th July on limited edition vinyl.

It’s April Fools Day, and PICTISH TRAIL and LAURA are really struggling to make important Lost Map announcements convincingly. Will there actually be a Howlin’ Fling this year? Thankfully there’s new music from MARTHA FFION, FIRESTATIONS, plus tracks from L.T. LEIF and AMY MAY ELLIS, to break up the tedium.

This month’s interview is with Emma, Simone and Rowan of HAIRBAND, who chat to us from Rowan’s living room in Glasgow - with fellow bandmate Rachel sending messages from Berlin. They talk us through the making of their fantastic new album, Under The Plow - which is out on 21st April on very limited edition cassette.

Once again, PICTISH TRAIL and LAURA have convened via the internet, to tell you all about the latest releases from Lost Map. In addition to new music from FELL, THE GN BAND, AMY MAY ELLIS and HAIRBAND, there’s also some illicit goss about certain projects that we’re not supposed to tell you about. Yet.

It’s the first day of a new month, which means PICTISH TRAIL and LAURA are in their jammies, and ready to pod. On today’s episode, there are fresh tunes from CLÉMENTINE MARCH, SDF, and FREE LOVE to enjoy, as well as information about a brand new signing to the label roster, HAIRBAND … but first they had to make sure they expressed their opinions on the disgusting instagram advert and accompanying tour ticket prices by MADONNA. What an absolute disgrace.

This month’s interview is with Canadian songsmith L.T. LEIF, who talks us through their life in music, their move to Glasgow and the making of their new album, Come Back To Me, But Lightly - which was released late-January 2023 on limited edition vinyl via Lost Map, in association with our good friends OK Pal Records.

Singer-songwriter PICTISH TRAIL runs the independent record label and collective LOST MAP from his home, on the Isle of Eigg, Scotland. Join him for the next 72 minutes, as he runs through a choice selection of tracks from the label catalogue over the past 12 months, as well as some spins of brand new “as yet unreleased" material. The perfect soundtrack for your New Year / New You fitness regime work-out … in so far as it starts out quite energetic, and then gets a bit wheezy, slightly trippy, and then blissed out. By which point you’ll thoroughly deserve a cup of tea and the remaining segments of that Terry’s Chocolate Orange you got for Xmas.

Oh there’s some gossip about Howlin’ Fling!, too. You’ll have to listen to find out, mind.

After a couple of months of touring and cavorting with middle-aged alt-rock heroes, PICTISH TRAIL has returned to Eigg, and realises that the Lost Map admin pile has gone out of control. Thankfully LAURA is on-hand, via internet connection from Edinburgh, to sort through this month’s releases on PostMap Club, and our upcoming live music events.

Our featured interview this month is with ALLIYAH ENYO, a multi-disciplinary artist from Edinburgh, who came up to stay in St Franny’s Bothan on Eigg in May of 2022 to take part in our VISITATIONS residency project. She chats to us about her life in music, her debut album release for Somewhere Between Tapes, her performance at Hidden Door Festival, as well as her experience on Eigg.

Also this month … we’ve got a taste of new music from FREE LOVE; an as-yet-unreleased album track from FELL; something from the vaults by BALLBOY; as well as news on a variety of upcoming label showcases - including two shows in December for DAYLIGHT MUSIC, the line-up for our HUMBUG! events in Glasgow and Edinburgh, plus info on the first of many "10th Anniversary" shows for 2023.
