  • 96: Love your body. Live your life. | Season 4, Episode 12
In this final episode of Season 4, we're exploring the yogic concept of Isvarapranidhana, which Donna Farhi translates as celebration of the spiritual. I'm talking a bit about what my word of the year, sacred, has shown me so far, as well as what I think yoga and body acceptance are really leading us to. I also talk a bit about the future of the podcast!

  • 95: On Not Burning It Down | Season 4, Episode 11
On the podcast this week I'm talking about my usual relationship to my work: full speed ahead or burn it down and how I'm trying to find the in-between these days. Our exploration is Yoga Sutra 2.46 (one of my faves, though I know I say that about everything!): "The posture should be steady and sweet."

  • 94: What if we got rid of the idea of imperfect, too? | Season 4, Episode 10
Okay, here's something I've been thinking about lately: There's a lot of talk out there about embracing our imperfections. And listen, I'm totally down with that because it's good not to compare ourselves to perfection!
But I actually think that both perfection and imperfection might be not-useful concepts when it comes to our bodies because embracing our imperfections implies that perfection still exists -- and I don't think it does. My hunch is that bodies exist in a much more individual, changing space than that. So this week, I'm digging into that -- all in the context of our exploration this week, which is santosha, or contentment.

  • 93: What It Really Means to Think Positively | Season 4, Episode 9
Do you ever find yourself thinking that you should "think more positively" about a situation, as though that in and of itself can solve major challenges? If you do (she says as she raises her hand!), that's not too surprising because we get lots of messages that tell us that's possible when, of course, things are a bit more complicated than that.
In this week's episode we're digging into Yoga Sutra 2.33, "When presented with disquieting thoughts or feelings, cultivate an opposite, elevated attiude," and talking about one key word in there and what it has to do with positive thinking, body acceptance, and more.

  • 92: How We Figure Out What's Best for Us | Season 4, Episode 8
This week we're talking about viveka, or discernment. I don't know about you, but I find it very tricky sometimes to figure out what's best for me, to navigate all the information and advice out there along with my own inner knowing. So in this episode, I'm sharing an example of how that's come up for me, as well as a conversation with a student that gave me a big ah-ha around all of this.

  • 90: So, I Fell Into a Body Critical Pit | Season 4, Episode 7
Yep, it's true -- I fell into a body critical pit this week. Oof!
In this week's episode, I'm talking about how I got there, what I did when I noticed, and how I started to (much slowly than I would have liked) start to pull myself out. I also discuss what all of this has to do with our exploration this week, which is Yoga Sutra 2.1: Transformation, inner exploration, and embodying your ideals are yoga in the form of action.

  • 89: May I Know What I Know | Season 4, Episode 6
Today's podcast is a little different. I decided to share an extended guided meditation with you, something that invites you into deeper exploration of our theme for the week (the yogic concept of svadhyaya, or self-study) and our invocation, which is: May I Know What I Know.

  • 87: Wait, There's a Mindful Approach to Yoga?! | Season 4, Episode 5
So this podcast title is a little bit tongue in cheek, but also not! In this episode I'm sharing about a conversation with a student that helped illustrate to me what we're really doing in yoga -- and what it all has to do with showing ourselves our true, whole nature. We also talk about how all this relates to our exploration of the week, which is Yoga Sutra 1.3.
