  • Episode 25 - Carolyn Rose Gimian, James Gimian & Samuel Bercholz
Carolyn Rose Gimian is the Executive Director of the Chogyam Trungpa Institute, and was a close student of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche's who later served as editor of many of his classic books including Shambhala: Sacred Path Of The Warrior and Smile At Fear. Carolyn, her husband James (Jim) Gimian and Samuel Bercholz  (founder, Shambhala Publications) were some of the earliest members of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche's sangha, nearly involved with nearly every facet of his life for the entirety of his 17 years he remained alive in America. Carolyn, Jim and Samuel remain surrendered devotees of Trungpa Rinpoche to this day, and are generous, living testaments to the wisdom contained in his teachings. Collectively, they share countless humorous and heartwarming stories of what it was like being on the front lines of Tibetan Buddhism arriving in America, watching the emergence of Pema Chodrön (and the surprisingly hilarious car she drove in her first year as a nun), what it was like spending long periods of time with Trungpa Rinpoche's deceased body for 6 weeks after he passed, and how smoke can turn into a rainbow. Also, Carolyn shares exciting news about the highly anticipated Chogyam Trungpa Digital Library.

  • Episode 48 - "YAWN & LOKO GO BACK TO REHAB"

This YAWN & LOKO themed episode was recorded live on the new "Love Is The Author Wednesday's" at WANTS/NEEDS Community Arts Collective in downtown Ventura, CA. On this episode, Jaymee and his partner/manager Lacee discuss the gnarly details of what it was like working side by side for over a decade in addiction and mental health treatment, and how those years served as a unique training ground for the couple to emerge as gifted spiritual teachers. If you think you've heard all of Jaymee and Lacee's stories, get ready to see them both in a whole new light. Also, actor Jason Segal walks by WANTS/NEEDS (on air) and gives a wave to Jaymee (this is not the first time this has happened).

  • Episode 24 - Sam Bercholz Drops The Mic
"I may be crucified for this... but happily!"
Sam Bercholz is the Founder and Editor In Chief of Shambhala Publications, was an attendant, student, close friend and constant collaborator of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche's for the last 17 years of his life, publishing virtually Trungpa's entire literary catalog. He co-hosted a weekly public radio show with Alan Watts (produced by an Anton Lavey devotee), and Sam personally introduced Trungpa Rinpoche to Alan Watts ("Alan was Trunpa's literary hero.") He shares the details of their first meeting, and the bombshell first impression Alan Watts made on Trungpa Rinpoche ("That was a horrible disappointment"). Sam also made the introduction between renowned Zen Master Suzuki Roshi and Trungpa Rinpoche, which became a lifelong friendship between the two most significant Buddhist teachers in North American history. Sam also grew up with Alan Ginsberg, Lawrence Ferlinghetti and Lex Hixon, was the original mover and shaker of the spiritual boom in the Bay Area in the late 1960's and 70's. He even hosted His Holiness Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche (considered the living Buddha of the last 100 years) on his only visit to North America in 1976.
Sam tells mind-blowing stories of what it was like for him to be the "designated driver" for Trungpa Rinpoche's early acid tests with his students ("best job ever") and how Trungpa never appeared to be affected by the LSD or the alcohol intake. Sam shares (for the first time publicly) his feelings about the controversial offshoot Shambhala Buddhism, which he reveals was created years after Trungpa Rinpoche's death, without his personal blessing and against many of his students support. "I tried to stop Shambhala Buddhism from happening. I thought it was a mistake to create a new religion, because Trungpa Rinpoche was not into starting new religions."
Sam also shares about his relationship with legendary poet Jim Harrison, and towards the end of the podcast, fields questions from Jaymee's student Tim D'amico and his partner Lacee.
"I had many meetings with Trungpa Rinpoche while he was taking a crap..." - Sam Bercholz

YAWN & LOKO (Jaymee and Lacee) return with another "BED-IN" themed episode, discussing the annihilation of ego in relationships, creative license in spiritual practice, how it is Lacee developed a relationship with God without any spiritual background, and details her rapidly evolving devotion to Neem Karoli Baba aka "Maharaj-ji". Plus the couple share fun stories from kirtan this past New Year's Day with Raghu Markus and the Love Serve Remember satsang in Ojai, CA. • Episode 45 - "Harshada David Wagner"

Harshada David Wagner is a spiritual teacher based on Ojai, CA, with more than 25 years of teaching experience in the wisdom traditions of Yoga, Bhakti, Vedanta, and Tantra. He's also some one who's first savior was punk rock/hardcore music, who amazingly got sober at 16 years of age in his hometown of Peoria, Illinois and was given a copy of the Ram Dass spiritual classic Be Here Now, which changed the course of Harshada's life. He spent years in study while maintaining his recovery, eventually met his guru and made his spiritual life his highest priority, spending years in study and purification practices, emerging as a spiritual teacher and author who regularly hosts retreats in India and the US, individual mentorship services, and has featured meditations on the Insight Timer app. He also had the experience of interviewing Ram Dass at his home in Maui, and shares an "off camera" story they had about psychedelics.

Jaymee and Harshada have a spirited conversation about cults, fatherhood, modern day monasticism, how to avoid the trappings of spiritual materialism, and   why the bathwater could end up as valuable as the baby. The two new friends also discuss the importance of irreverent comedy, and how after decades of conventional recovery, micro-dosing psilocybin ended up assisted Harshada in evolving his emotional recovery, expanding the artist within him.

  • Episode 21 - "LET IT HAPPEN: Addiction Re-Envisioned"
This episode features Jaymee's best recorded advice on the subject of addiction, mental health, recovery and treatment, and how to carve out an unconventional path of sobriety utilizing abstinence and emotional intelligence. You'll hear some of the most beautiful things ever said on planet Earth about addicts, and how they are truly saints, mislabeled by the collective. The talk is a conversation between Jaymee and his student Alex K, who originally met as rehab owner and patient in 2019 at the addiction and mental health center Jaymee co-founded and formerly operated in Santa Barbara. The discussion that follows between them is one of the most informative resources on the the above subjects, as Alex K generously shares his unique story of the destruction that led him to seek treatment, and eventually to co-creating a new path forward of recovery with Jaymee; one absent of labels, diagnosis, or any idea of not being enough.

  • Episode 20 - Robert Ryan & Lama Lhanang Rinpoche
This episode features Jaymee's second interview with legendary tattoo icon and street monk Robert Ryan of Electric Tattoo, and Jaymee's teacher, Vajrayana Buddhist Master Lama Lhanang Rinpoche. Recorded LIVE on location, grand opening weekend of WANTS/NEEDS Community Arts Collective, on the morning after the packed premier of Robert Ryan's art show "DUALITY" in that space. The atmosphere of recording was a rare stormy Sunday morning in downtown Ventura, CA, which surprisingly did hold back attendees from returning the morning after for a truly stunning talk on the subject of "Dharma Art".
The episode opens with excerpts from a special "Ganesha Puja" ceremony Robert Ryan offered that morning prior to the taping of this show, and closes with a deeply moving blessing and powerful healing chant from Lama Lhanang.

Metsa Nihue is an internationally renowned Onaya (medicine man) and healer who specializes in traditional Amazonian lineages and plant medicines. He lived and trained in the Peruvian Amazon for 15 years under the guidance of the Quechua-Lamistas, Aguarunas and Shipibo indigenous peoples, and has been leading ayahuasca retreats and plant medicine rituals around the world for the past decade. He is a Reiki master healer and a Sun Dancer with the Dakota Tipi Nation, and a part of the Native American Church of the Denee Nation. He is a leader in the field of psychedelic studies and the preservation of indigenous communities and traditions of South America.

It was 7 years ago that Jaymee sat in two ayahuasca ceremonies facilitated by Metsa, one of which birthed Jaymee receiving the message "Love Is The Author": a philosophy Jaymee has lived by ever since. This is Metsa's and Jaymee's first conversation ever; the two men did not speak in the shared space 7 years ago, and had not seen each other since. Metsa has lived a life of privacy until now, so it is an incredible honor to present you his first podcast.
