The DEAR HUMAN CHILD Transmission, read for you in full, to give you a taste of the upcoming Audiobook.
If transmission excerpts can support our personal challenges, imagine how they might respond if we ask tough questions about current global issues? Well, I asked, and the cards spoke.
Wouldn't it be interesting if this election were, for example, to lead us in a direction that suggested that it's time for a different form of electoral system? That pitting two parties against one another in aggression and bitter and childlike oppositional energy is not the way to create a healthy country or a healthy governing body. And perhaps this is what it is time for us to overhaul. If we were to choose this fundamental change, that is when new opportunities and new choices appear before us.
If you enjoyed this video, be one of the first to hold the special edition DEAR HUMAN CHILD book and deluxe card deck in your own hands. We are so grateful for your support in reaching our goal, to bring these writings to the world. DEAR HUMAN CHILD.

A transmission reminding us of our connection to one another, and to Source.
Dear Listener and Reader;
Today I share a deep and lengthy transmission which feels important in this moment. It is part two of a four part series received in summer of 2020, on Q-Anon and pedophilia. As always, the transmissions look to the root, to the underlying expressions of polarization which lead to suffering.
Rain Dance will be part of an upcoming book of transmissions on these days of the Earth Changes.
Publishing a collection of these writings is a vision I have held for many years. Please let me know, dear reader, if you would like to be on my list to be notified of this release.

Dear Reader;
Welcome to the Part Four Exercise, part of a series of writings on Healing the Primary Sexual Wound.
Part Four Exercise: On the forgiving, healing and integrating the Masculine and Feminine aspects of our being.
This exercise honours the hidden blessings within our dualistic natures and the deep purpose held by both the feminine and masculine aspects of our incarnation, while recognizing all humans embody elements of both. This does not negate natural gender, but rather invites us to dance with our beautifully polarized reflection.
In this exercise you will be led through an exploration of three levels of awareness: wounding, compensation and acceptance. As we develop the capacity to witness the hidden aspects of our masculine or feminine natures, we may then have the courage to recognize how we have learned to deny and protect ourselves.
As an unconscious compensation, women may develop tactics of masculine aggression, and men may retreat to a feminine passivity. We may relinquish our inherent strength in such an adaptation, for fear of revealing what we perceive as a dangerous potency.
Jung said, “Whatever is rejected from the self, appears in the world as an event.” Remembering that our emotional shadows are our guides, what have these fears come to teach us? Who are we in our wholeness? Where may a man find the new sacred masculine within, and how does a woman embody the long lost sacred feminine?
Please take the time to journal, draw, paint and move your body after your meditation. Celebrate what has been revealed.
You will hear a brief introduction of the Nam-myoho-rege-kyo Nichiren Buddhist chant, offered in the understanding that even ignorance and the Dharma nature are a single entity, or one in essence. This reunion is indeed our Buddha nature.
From Soka Gakkai, of the Nichiren Buddhism Library":
“The meaning of Nam-myoho-renge-kyo is explained in the opening section of The Record of the Orally Transmitted Teachings, the record of Nichiren’s lectures on the Lotus Sutra compiled by his disciple and successor, Nikkō. It states that namu derives from the Sanskrit word namas and is translated as devotion, or as “dedicating one’s life.” What one should dedicate one’s life to, he says, are the Person and the Law. The Person signifies “Shakyamuni,” which means the eternal Buddha, and the Law is “the Lotus Sutra,” which means the ultimate truth, or Myoho-renge-kyo. According to Orally Transmitted Teachings, the act of devotion (namu) has two aspects: One is to devote oneself to, or fuse one’s life with, the eternal and unchanging truth; the other is that, through this fusion of one’s life with the ultimate truth, one simultaneously draws forth inexhaustible wisdom that functions in accordance with changing circumstances.
Orally Transmitted Teachings further states: “We may also note that the nam of Nam-myoho-renge-kyo is a Sanskrit word, while Myoho-renge-kyo are Chinese words. Sanskrit and Chinese join in a single moment to form Nam-myoho-renge-kyo. If we express the title [of the Lotus Sutra] in Sanskrit, it will be Saddharma-pundarīka-sūtra. This is Myoho-renge-kyo. Sad (a phonetic change of sat) means myō, or wonderful. Dharma means hō, Law or phenomena. Pundarīka means renge, or lotus blossom. Sūtra means kyō, or sutra. The nine Chinese characters [that represent the Sanskrit title] are the Buddha bodies of the nine honored ones. This expresses the idea that the nine worlds are none other than the Buddha world.
“Myō stands for the Dharma nature, or enlightenment, while hō represents darkness, or ignorance. Together as myōhō, they express the idea that ignorance and the Dharma nature are a single entity, or one in essence. Renge stands for the two elements of cause and effect. Cause and effect are also a single entity.
“Kyō represents the words and voices of all living beings. A commentary says, ‘The voice carries out the work of the Buddha, and it is called kyō.’ Kyō may also be defined as that which is constant and unchanging in the three existences of past, present, and future. The Dharma realm is myōhō, the wonderful Law; the Dharma realm is renge, the lotus blossom; the Dharma realm is kyō, the sutra.”
much love,
Forgiveness is a tricky subject. When we truly begin to grasp what it means to live in a world without blame, a world in which every conflict is a lesson and every enemy a teacher, the blessing of this acceptance lives in the reclamation of our own capacity to choose. We become the victim no more.
We may have everything material taken away from us, but no one can claim the inner choices of our soul, as was so clearly expressed in Viktor Frankl's brilliant book, Man’s Search for Meaning. As we apply these principles we may find that within our own personal relationships, apology is no longer necessary in the same way. We become willing to witness both our own actions and the actions of our loved ones as simply expressions which arise from who we are and where we are in each moment. Even in situations of grave harm and loss it is possible to walk within this framework. to recognize that Justice is a much more complex and holy process than vengeance.
Alongside this principle exists a profound understanding which is that we set ourselves and others free by releasing our attachment to suffering through an intentional forgiveness practice. This can be deeply effective even if we are not aware of consciously sitting in a place of blame. What forgiveness achieves is acknowledgement of both the pain of the one who has been harmed and the one who caused the harm. From this view we can abstain from the use of words like victim and persecutor and yet still recognize the mutual dance of shame and heartbreak which has been such a powerful part of our human journey. In this process we allow what is hidden in our unconscious to feel safe enough to rise up and be acknowledged, beyond cycles of defence and counter-attack. The elimination of denied resentment and powerlessness is critical to the creation of a world without blame. We must be willing to tell the truth before we can all be set free.
Most of us are aware of the ancient Hawaiian tradition of Ho'oponopono. this practice is rooted in an understanding of Oneness. It calls us to claim the courage of acknowledging any and all karmic hurt we have generated as a powerful practice of humility and willingness. It is astonishing how the act of intentionally expressing forgiveness to others grants us permission to acknowledge and identify our own buried pain. Something magical takes place when we surrender our defences. Just as it is possible to become entrenched in the rage of the victim, a very pure liberation may be found when we set ourselves free of any hurt we may have experienced as well as any hurt we may have committed.
Today's exercise is an invitation to explore Ho’oponopono. Please begin in meditation and call forth any tangible memories of suppression, or persecution or victimization. Hold this awareness as you listen to and speak the magic of Ho'oponopono. Observe how old memories of shame become pure in the presence of unconditional acceptance. Recognize that as this acceptance comes alive within you, you reflect the purity of the unconditional love of the Creator. This Is the love we seek, and yet it is the very same love which can never be lost. This is the truth which lives within every soul.
I will begin by sharing a few stanzas from a transmission entitled Father Forgive Them. I will then read for you the full traditional form of the Ho'oponopono. You may listen to this on repeat for an increasingly powerful experience or you may choose to speak it aloud. May the inherent forgiveness of absolute and unconditional love lead us together toward a World Without Blame.
Father forgive them
*Note: The Ho’oponopono prayer is accompanied by my received chant, Peace. The chant itself holds an additionally activating frequency. The prayer is repeated three times.
“Divine Creator, Father, Mother, Son, all in One. If I, my family, my relatives and ancestors, offend your family, relatives and ancestors, in thoughts, words, facts, and actions, from the beginning of our creation to the present moment, we ask for your forgiveness. Let it cleanse, purify, release and cut all negative memories, blockages, energies and vibrations. Transmute these undesirable energies into pure light, and so it is.
To clear my subconscious of all the emotional charge stored in it, I say over and over again during my day, the keywords of ho’oponopono: I’m sorry, forgive me, I love you, I’m grateful. I declare myself at peace with all the people of the earth with whom I have outstanding debts. For this moment and in all time, for everything that I do not like in my present life: I am sorry, forgive me, I love you, I am grateful. I release all those from whom I believe I am receiving harm and ill treatment because they are my teachers: I’m sorry, forgive me, I love you, I’m grateful.
Although it is difficult for me to forgive someone, I am the one who asks for the forgiveness of that someone now. For this instant, and at all times, for everything I do not like in my present life: I’m so sorry, forgive me, I love you, I’m grateful. For this sacred place that I inhabit day by day, with which I do not feel comfortable: I am sorry, forgive me, I love you, I am grateful. For the difficult relationships of which I only kept bad memories: I’m sorry, forgive me, I love you, I’m grateful.
For everything that I do not like in my present life, in my past life, in my work and what is around me, Divinity cleans in me what is contributing to my scarcity: I’m sorry, forgive me, I love you, I am grateful.
If my physical body experiences anxiety, worry, guilt, fear, sadness, pain, I speak and think, “My memories, I love you. I am grateful for the opportunity to release you, and me.” I’m sorry, forgive me, I love you, I’m grateful. Right now, I affirm that I love you. I think of my emotional health and that of all my loved ones. I love you for my needs and to learn to wait without anxiety, without fear, I recognize my memories here at this moment: I am sorry, forgive me, I love you, I am grateful.
My contribution to the healing of beloved Mother Earth, who I am: if I, my family, my relatives and ancestors mistreat you with thoughts, words, facts and actions, from the beginning of our creation to the present moment, I ask your forgiveness. Let it cleanse and purify, release and cut all negative memories, blockages, energies and vibrations. Transmute these undesirable energies into pure light and so it is.
To conclude, I say that this prayer is my door, my contribution to your emotional health, which is the same as mine. So, be well, and as you heal, I say that: I’m sorry for the painful memories I share with you. I ask for forgiveness for uniting my path to yours for healing. I thank you for being here in me. I love you for being who you are. ”
I would love to hear your experience with this exercise.
Just a reminder that within your soul you are eternally pure and beautiful. You are a child of God, Goddess, Spirit, Source and Creator. You are, in your essence, perfect and free.
much love,
Adi
Dear Reader;
Welcome to a series of writings on Healing the Primary Sexual Wound.
Part Two Exercise: On our place in the collective sexual shadow
If we understand that our soul’s journey is undertaken by choice, If we accept that the ultimate purpose of our life challenges is to generate an initiation into consciousness; then if we take the time to examine experiences of contraction in our lives, we will be led directly toward opportunities for expansion, already primed and waiting for our courageous exploration.
In this exercise you are asked to sit quietly and centre yourself. Let all the thoughts and distractions of the day fall away and open the blank screen of your mind's eye.
As you sit watching the screen, please invite yourself to feel small and young. You are a child or perhaps an adolescent, and you are experiencing a deep desire. It can be a physical desire, a sexual desire, a longing for a special gift, for love, for touch, ownership or expression. It can be a powerful hunger, or a small, wishful voice, so long as you can identify it as desire that is meaningful and holds the promise of pleasure for you.
Before you pay attention to outcome, please notice simply how desire feels, in your body, in your heart, in your being. Does it feel good to want something? Does it feel possible? Does desire feel inspiring, is there a power within desire that moves you to speak, to act, to follow through? Or does desire feel dangerous, limited, shameful? Is desire your secret, or something you share? Do you have a sense that you know what to do with this desire? Is it a familiar or isolated feeling?
Now that you have connected with a memory of what it feels like to desire, let that memory play out like a movie in your mind’s eye. What happens next?
Are you able to voice your desire, and are you heard? Did you act upon your desire, and how were you received? Did you fulfil your desire, or was permission denied? Let all the players enter the scene. Let yourself feel everything you felt in that moment. What was it like to have your wishes come true, or to have them taken from you? Who played a part in this, and what was their energy or presence like? Were you excited and joyful, or disappointed and afraid?
If your desire was fulfilled, what happened next? If your desire was denied, what did you do? Let yourself feel it all.
Now please repeat this exercise at least three times, for three different experiences of desire. Each time begin by letting yourself remember what it felt like to have pure desire in your body and your psyche. Each time follow through with your emotional body, and how it felt to achieve or lose the fulfilment of your desires.
Now notice any patterns which have arisen. Were you a child or youth who could easily identify and express what you want? What were the most powerful kinds of desires you can remember? Did you allow easily or was each time an effort to dig through shame and shyness? What is the patterning of how your desire was received by others? Were you heard and welcomed or did you repeatedly experience being shut down, by others or by your own fear?
Notice who was present in the theatre of these memories. If it was a parent, sibling or friend, can you recall the way that this individual would commonly express and respond to their own desires? How did their responses impact you? What did they teach you about yourself? Were you strong enough to hold your own, or were you submissive to the wishes of others?
Where is shame present in these memories? Did you stop yourself, or were you stopped and shamed by others? Were you pure of heart and believing in your right to desire until someone judged or harmed you? Can you let yourself be aware of how you experienced your own power of choice or your own passivity?
For each experience, what was the measure of your success in fulfilling your desire? Please give each experience a rating between 1 and 10, 10 being the complete fulfilment and/or acknowledgement of your desire, and 1 being complete shut down of your needs and wishes.
What was the climate around you during these experiences? What were the customs, the habits of your family, your culture, your community? Were you ever publicly shamed? Did parents, elders or authority figures ever use shame as a way to control your behaviour?
Did you have any role models of individuals who recognized their own preferences and made choices rooted in their own desires? Who were these role models, and how did they live their lives? If there was no one, and you grew up surrounded by control and suppression, is that feeling of entrapment and denial still familiar to you? Are you still living with a need for approval, for a permission that lives outside of yourself? What would have happened to you as a child if you had dared to take permission, to follow your desires anyway? What would happen to you as an adult, if you were to follow your desires this very day?
Now, for each experience you have noted, allow yourself to re-enter the memory of the original moment. If your permission score was only 3, visualize pushing up the needle of that score. What would it feel like inside your heart, if it became a 5. And then 7. What would it feel like to push the needle to 10? Give yourself full permission to rewrite the entire scene. To rectify, and fulfil whatever had been missing. If a parent began with no, they now say yes. If you were shamed and judged, you are now heard and loved. If you stopped yourself, you now say yes to yourself. What does it feel like to play with this permission? Can you do it? Can you confront any fear and shame which arises and say yes anyway? Can you allow yourself to want something, and let it come true?
Notice any resistance. Watch it, but don’t respond to its claim on you. Let it be witnessed in a dispassionate way. Love yourself in it. Love the resistance itself. Remind yourself that this is the catalyst to your permission. Without resistance, there would be no permission. The hand must pull back the bow so that the arrow, in its time, can fly free.
In closing, for each memory of desire, anchor a healing, positive outcome. Give yourself an image, a word, by which to anchor what it feels like to say yes, where once you were told no. You have full permission to rewrite these memories, to create a new ending to each story. Play with this sensation and give to yourself now what may have been missing for a long time.
The truth is, you are all grown up. Your permissions are now utterly your own. There is no one, and nothing in your way. You are more free than you have ever been in your life. Every challenging memory has come only to serve you, to take you to this new place. If it is not easy to rewrite a memory, take your time. Stay honest within yourself. Keep feeling for choices, for possibilities. You deserve the time to practice being larger in life, being free for the first time. You are developing new muscles. Tell yourself the truth, but don’t give up. The visions you allow fuel the reality you create.
If necessary, repeat and repeat the anchoring words and images. Take back what was meant to be yours. Discover how strong you are meant to be. Notice how freely your love begins to flow to others, when you allow it to first flow freely to you. It’s the beginning of a new day.
I would love to hear how you experience this exercise. Please share in the comments.
Much love,
Adi
Dear Reader;
Please join me in exploring the context of the primary sexual wound.
One could arguably say that humankind's central question concerns the nature of suffering: what is its meaning, why does it exist, and what is to be done?
But if this is question number one, question number two surely invites us to understand the purpose and meaning of the shame and harm we hold around sexuality. Whether it is being cast out from the garden in the Judeo-Christian tradition, the history of sexual crimes committed by celibate priests, the swaths of fabrics used to conceal the feminine in Islamic traditions, or the brutal circumcision of children in tribal traditions, what is this power which drives humans to war, to rape, to abuse, and yet also holds the potential for profound intimacy.
What is its highest form, and what is its shadow?
“When we have lived in the dark
We live in a dualistic realm. Most religious traditions attempt to address this, often cultivating a belief that duality is a curse of some kind, a symptom of unconscious and overriding ego, darkness or even evil. Yet whenever we live from a view marked by experiences of victimization and meaninglessness, we suppose a chaotic universe. Whenever we pit ourselves against an opposing force, rather than surrendering to integration of the whole, we throw away our power. We give it directly to our perceived enemies.
So if we are not victims, how do we understand the trauma and shaming so endemic to sexual experience on a global level?
Sexual wounding is not only prevalent, but I suggest that it is universal. There is no one who has escaped. Some may believe they are free spirits and therefore untarnished, or some may say that sexuality is not that important to them, and so they feel they are beyond its influence. Some may even feel they are masters, delving deeply into esoteric approaches and tantric studies, determined to rise beyond old voices of judgement and control. But if we stand in a place of acceptance that the challenges of our lives are intentionally valuable as catalysts to our expansion, how does this shed light on sexual trauma and shame? If the purpose of shadow is to reveal where we have blocked the light, what does sexual suppression tell us about the journey of the collective Soul?
If we consider that the further we pull back and create tension with the bow, the further the arrow will fly, then we begin to understand the purpose of our darkest shadows. I read recently that scientists attempted to grow trees under a dome, but the trees did not thrive due to the absence of wind. The stress of developing against a contrasting force is what generates strength. Without the wind, the trees had no way to outgrow the weakness of their protection.
We can find this dynamic everywhere we look in the natural world; it is the central principle found within the true karmic nature of being. And the closer we come to the light, the more powerfully dark is the oppositional energy required. We only truly see the beauty of the candle’s light in a darkened room.
If our overarching journey is a stepping away from oneness with the Creator so that we may one day know a glorious return, then is it possible that the taste of divine bliss we come to know through our sexual natures, is the memory of our own union with Source? In its most whole and rich form, sexual expression expands far beyond genitally-based pleasure. When this energy becomes fully alive, we are transported across dimensions, in an encompassing remembering of absolute beauty and love. Complete sexual surrender is much more than pleasure, it is encompassing ecstasy. It may be that not everyone has touched this experience yet, but knowing it is the vastness which awaits, tells us a great deal about the impulse toward reunion in our lives.
This is the Divine itself, Spirit expressed in the physical. It is a means through which human beings may expand their consciousness beyond separation, beyond material limitation. It is a gift given to every child from the moment of incarnation.
And so, what more perfect way to catalyze our coming home to God/Goddess, than to dare to confront the darkest regions of our sexual shadow. The most potent joy provides the most acute source of polarized contrast. Where we are most vulnerable, we are poised to gain the most strength. Where our desire is the most vivid, we are subject to the greatest lessons in the illusions of loss.
And what do we find at the heart of this shadow? Where ecstatic union brings us closer to Spirit, the legacy of sexual patterning fills us with loathing and shame. Where life force energy reminds us we are creators, sexual wounding makes us helpless, damaged victims. Where sacred sexual expression teaches us permission to invite profound power and joy into our being, sexual oppression denies us permission in every creative and sensual arena of our lives.
If grief is love expressing through loss, then shame is divine presence expressing through the denial of holy desire, and numbness is the language of unhealed pain. So long as we are called to remember an experience of Heaven, we are asked to reckon with the gates of Hell.
Is it possible that our remembering of the enduring purity of union holds an answer to human suffering? How could it not be so, given that each soul incarnates in order to grow through contrast and challenge into one who is ready to return to the garden. Why do leaders go to war? To proclaim an identity through dominance and ownership. Why do they seek this? Because they have disconnected from their own remembering of union with love and bliss.
Why do men suppress women? Fear of feminine sexual and creative power triggers the need to feel in control. Why do races and cultures oppress one another? Belief in the identity of separation, rather than expanding into the joy of one Source, one soul. Why do humans harm their Great Mother? Blindness to the life force of all living beings. Why does our species suffer so greatly? We turned away from our birthright of joy, so that through our karmic, hero’s journey, we might someday return to Oneness with all Creation.
If duality is the theatre of the illusion of separation, then the shaming of our creative force is the theatre of the illusion of powerlessness. And we all know there is nothing so dangerous and cruel as a shamed and powerless heart.
If separation is indeed an illusion, then whether we know it or not, like it or not, we are all intimately entwined with one another, and that which I cleanse and transform in my own energy field, I do not do so just for myself but for you, and you, and you. As I expand into loving consciousness, so does every being who meets me on the same level of frequency. As I rise so do you. As you release into ecstasy, so do all the interconnected souls whom you love. Not only is this a path of transformation for all humankind, there is no liberation without it.
Every man carries the cellular memories of the fathers who beat their sons if they showed tenderness or vulnerability or fear. Every woman carries the karmic memory of the suppression of her beauty and the rape of her innocence. And thus, every man or woman walks with the power within to cleanse, heal and reclaim. Every one of us has the capacity to drink in the lessons of our return to the garden. To find our way home to wholeness.
Neda Agha-Soltan was a young Iranian woman shot by a sniper during protest marches in 2009. Her story is remarkable in so many ways, but most notably, on the day she would later be shot and killed, she was approached by the Gasht-e Ershad, the morality police of Iran. These women spoke to her, one of them saying, “please don’t come out looking so beautiful, because the Basij (the militia) target beautiful girls and they will shoot you. I am also a psychologist, and I know the danger of beauty to these men.” For Neda, a documentary based on interviews with her family, speaks to this at 42:30.
Neda’s story says it all, revealing the root of the fear which has driven our species, laid bare for all to see in this fundamentalist murder. At the same time, her place in our collective experience reveals the power of life force beauty, waiting to be reclaimed. Study the story of Neda, and you will find the root of our primary, sexual wound.
Our sexual, sensual, creative and vital presence takes shape in countless forms, all of which are born out of a childhood grace. Imagine if every soul acknowledged the profound value of this deep truth telling, and together we were to create a world where children are safe in their purity, adolescents are free to claim their beauty, and adults fill their lives with the joy of connection, creation and reunion. Imagine if we all took this seriously, and reclaimed our own powerful life force. Imagine our collective recreation of the garden, never to be lost again.
much love,
Adi

Healing Sexual Shame
Dear Reader;
Most of us spend our days moving from one unconscious response to another. At the root of this programming we may find layers of denial, by self and others, and on top lie layers of protection, coping techniques which may have been useful at one time but now serve to keep us stuck, limited and unhappy or numb. These protections may be aggressive or defensive in their nature, and they leave a trail of clutter in our lives. Instead of free, creative flow, we live a series of habits, should’s and if only’s. Just as hoarders collect material possessions which are unnecessary and do not serve them, we hoard our protections and it may seem impossible to give them up. Each time we dare to turn our attention to the emotional clutter of our lives, we end up more overwhelmed and return to our old ways. We prefer the familiarity of the weight of our shadow beliefs than the risk of letting go.
A technique that can work very well for attachment to material clutter can also be applied to our psychic clutter. I call it, Empty the Room.
When we start to Spring clean, many of us will have ambitions and manage to sort out a cupboard here or a drawer there, but most of our space remains the way it was all winter, each lamp and chotchke in its familiar place gathering dust. A move to a new home can offer a breakthrough if we can be conscious about what we bring with us. One way of doing this is to start with an empty room. Instead of sitting with all our possessions and deciding what we need to let go, we start with nothing. We clear the room.
We start with absolute zero, and then, one item at a time, bring our treasure into the space. Each time we do so, we stop and observe how we feel with this item in place. Does the room feel better now? Do we prefer the feel of this object instead of the clear space that once was there? In this way we learn to value the room without habitual clutter, which gives us a whole new perspective on what is truly beautiful and meaningful. We give ourselves permission to stop, to say enough, at any time.
Our lives are like a cluttered room. They are overflowing with unconscious habits and relationships as well as things. But in a space of an empty mind, we can apply this principle to all the areas of our lives. To visualize letting go of everything and everyone. To imagine beginning completely anew, and from this emptiness, an amnesia almost, to choose again what is truly valuable. This can remind us that we actually have choice, and that it is up to us how we spend our days, what we consume, with whom we spend our time and to what we give our attention. It’s up to us if we fill our lives with obligations, or if we allow enough emptiness to invite in surrender, delight and sensual pleasures. We have no one else to blame.
Please set aside a minimum of thirty minutes for this exercise. Turn everything off, light a candle, smudge if you choose, and pick up your pen and journal. Get comfortable and bring yourself into a meditative space. Now begin to consider what it would feel like to empty out every area of your life.
You do not need to share any details of this process with anyone else, unless you choose to. So let yourself go all the way. Imagine that everything, every habitual way you define yourself, has been removed. The room of your life is empty. You are ready to start from scratch.
You can make your own list of sub-headings, but here are some ideas:
Material possessions
Relationships
Work
Home
Body
Hobbies
Play
Sensuality
Sexuality
As you focus on each area, see yourself in a completely empty space in regard to the topic. For material things, imagine a flood has come and washed away everything you own. For relationships, imagine you are on an island and every lover or family member has gone. For work, your job has ended forever and you have nothing to do each day. For your body, all your self-care (or lack of self-care) habits are taken away. No gym, no yoga mat, no supplements, no diets, no marathons. For hobbies and play, any of the groups, clubs, teams in which you participate, all these have ended. No more knitting needles, Netflix, golf or video games. All the ways in which you usually distract and entertain yourself are gone. You don’t even own a device or a phone. You now have all the time in the world.
Regarding sensuality and sexuality, you are now a virgin again. There is no lover in your life, no porn, no vibrators, fantasies or dreams. You don’t owe anyone a massage, you have no responsibility to bring someone to orgasm, or to have one yourself. You don’t have to wear high heels or cologne. You don’t even have to have a sexual preference or identity. You are just you. Pure, clear, new and empty. Your slate is completely clean and you are poised to explore, become, or taste anything you wish. You are also free to rest. To be in the space of nothingness and come to know what it is like to have no demands and make no requests. Who is the awake, sensual being who lives there?
In each of these arenas, or any others you choose, notice how you feel in the emptiness, and pay special attention to the fear that rises at the idea of letting go. You may unearth a full fledged panic, a sense of abandonment or terror. If so, move toward this feeling and ask it to speak to you. Have a conversation with your fear, and take your time before moving to the next step of the exercise.
Once you find you have achieved a relatively stable sense of spaciousness and emptiness, look around your empty room and notice one of the items, people, experiences you recognize and make a decision about whether you want to bring them back into the room to join you. Choose only one at a time. If the feeling is yes, I want them with me, then bring them into your psychic space and let them be for a moment before you add anything else.
Is this enough? How much space does this being or thing take up for you? How much do you want to give them? How has the frequency of your space changed by bringing this habit or item into your field? Take as much time as you need with each person or activity. Witness it patiently and without guilt or a sense of responsibility. This is your world, your life. This is your moment to explore what it means to be completely intentional. To have permission to choose yes, or to say no.
For the purposes of this exercise, keep things simple. The key is to pay attention to your own heart, and how it feels to give a piece of your life to one person, place or thing at a time. Let yourself play with the idea that the overwhelm, demands and insecurities of your protections are actually chosen by you, and that you in fact have the permission to say no at any time. To walk away. To change your mind. To take a break. To set yourself free.
Notice the voices which may arise, chastising, denouncing your desire to choose consciously and intentionally. They may condemn you in any manner of ways. If such voices arise for you, listen very closely and see if they may remind you of a voice, a parent, teacher, priest or friend. Ask the voices outright who they are. Ask them why they want to control you. Tell them you love them, but you have made a decision today to listen to your own heart first. Tell them they will be okay without you, and open the door to allow them to leave.
Notice also the quality of real joy and delight that you feel when intentionally choosing a special relationship, an object or way of living in your home, a means of work or play. See that when you begin from a place of virginal innocence, you may discover a pure sensual desire that has gone missing for a long time. Notice how being present in simple consciousness brings to life what is truly meaningful to you, and allows it to finally take up the space it deserves in your world.
There are no rights or wrongs for this exercise. You can keep it very simple and quick, or take your time and explore one life arena at a time and go more deeply. When you are given insights about what you now know you want to keep in your life, write them down. If you are given awareness of what you now know you wish to let go of in your life, write them down. If your emotions are high and you need to write about your fear of loss, your grief, your sense of undeserving, this is excellent, but choose a different page. Keep your list of life choice simple and concise. Go back to this list every day for a week and notice if your list matches your daily life. If not, sit gently in another meditation and ask yourself why.
Earthly life is not easy. While there is great beauty on this plane, there is also great suffering, and to this no one is immune. But there is purpose to these challenges, and one part of this purpose is to learn that we are creators, and “for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he reap.” Remove the judgement from this bible verse, and you will find a great truth remains.
We live at a time of dimensional awakening, a new recognition that we are designers of our world, just the way we might choose what furnishings to put in a room. Our journey toward this awareness rests firmly upon our ability to release our old compulsions of denial and shame, to see truly what is pure and joyful to our hearts. This in turn will awaken our life force energy, inviting it to come flowing back into the room of our personal power, as we peel away layers of assumption and control. And as we are reborn in our own life force, so are we truly lit up from within, in readiness to serve without compulsion or attachment. To bring joy, through awakening joy, through remembering the joy of our birthright, as a child of Source, Spirit, God, Goddess and Creator.
This is the great remembering of our lives.
I would love to hear how you experience this exercise. Please share in the comments.
Much love,
