  • Life Force

    Dear Reader;

Join me in examining the essence of what it means to be Human, and alive.

I remember the first time I saw, really saw, human death.

The idea of death was not new to me. I was young, but I had seen road kill shining in the headlights, squashed insects and flattened mice at the back of a dusty cupboard.

    I had heard about death.

My cat had been taken away to be euthanized after cancer ravaged her soft, calico face. A young acquaintance had died when his kidney transplant failed. A friend at school lost her father to a sudden heart attack and there were rumours that they had argued hours before his death. She had said terrible things to him, things she could now never unsay.

I attended that funeral, my first time ever in a Catholic church, and was amazed by the mumbled Latin, swaying incense and cold judgement from the pulpit. And I’ll never forget my friend, convulsively sobbing as she was led from the church in a state of collapse.

I knew of death, but still I had never met death. That meeting happened with the passing of my beloved Granny who lived downstairs, the one who made me dolls by hand, fed me hot, milky tea in a porcelain cup with a biscuit balanced on the saucer; the one who comforted me by reading poetry from tattered, oilskin covered books. It was when Lily left that I saw death.

I was twenty years of age; she had passed while I was away at University. We gathered as a family in the parking lot of the funeral home. I remember having a headache, feeling randomly nauseous. We walked into the funeral home chapel and I saw the closed casket at the front of the room. I was standing far away, but my awareness of her body inside that box hit my heart as surely as if I had been punched. The devastation, not only of her loss, but the idea that the glow of her being, her vital love could disappear, was too much.

I thought I had accepted the idea of her passing, but the truth of it really did not enter my psyche until I walked up the aisle of that chapel and felt the absence of her life. I could sense her spirit was not present in that box. I felt her empty body through the wood. And that was how I knew that the essence of my grandmother,  a black ribbon holding back her fine grey hair, BBC news playing on the radio, cat on her lap as she read her newspapers; my sweet Lily had left her physical form. The grief hit me as if an avalanche had poured through the sanctuary windows and swept me up the aisle and carried me away. I was very young, and I did not know where the spirit, the light of Lily had gone.

Since my youth, I have had a number of opportunities to meet death again. I have lost numerous loved ones and been present to watch the spirit take its leave. At times I have been called to midwife the death process. Each time I watched with fascination as the magic of the life force withdrew from physical form, the body, the shell we once identified as the one we love. That first instant of shattering connection to my grandmother’s silent body taught me much about death by showing me what it meant to be alive. I had not understood life fully, until that moment.

The impulse which imbues the inanimate with life, this is mystery, this is the absolute magic of incarnation, and any scientist who tries to tell you they can define it, or someday duplicate it, is telling you a lie. Life force is the mystical made into form; it cannot be manufactured, captured in a bottle, stolen or copied. It is energetic essence, and as such is born from a multi-dimensional plane. If we can disappear into death, we can also explode into life, and what a miracle to be having this experience, even in our suffering and challenge.

We can honour this animating impulse, and even be content with its essential mystery. But know that, without it, the trees would shrivel into eternal winter, the beings of land, sea and sky would turn to dust and all would be a lifeless desert with a heart of stone. We can even try to imagine the life force of Gaia coming to an end, but we would be imagining the impossible, for once ignited, this activation of Presence simply keeps expressing, eternally, in fact, a continuous exploration of full revelation. An encompassing desert of death is impossible, because life is everywhere. Like the arc between lightning and steeple, the electrical expression of life seeks connection with the highest point of reception, to be born and born and born again.

It is interesting to me that, one way or another, all living beings hold within them the capacity to generate new life. That to be born a woman, alive in her own life force presence, means to hold the capacity to give home to a new spark within her being. And that to be a man means to hold the capacity to initiate that spark. Isn’t it interesting that this initiation occurs during coitus in a union meant to be sacred, for thus, in the melding arms of divine pleasure, is how the miraculous is born.

It is not that the only purpose of coitus is to conceive, but rather that conception potentially occurs out of the experience of union and bliss, a taste of divinity in human form, generating an opportunity for life force to be born again. It is through sexual arousal that the most innocent moment of incarnation can occur. The purity of the embodied infant is the direct result of sexual passion. This is no accident. There is nothing without purpose and reason in the structures of Creation.

For centuries the dogma of myriad religious and cultural traditions have told us the opposite. We have been taught that the sexual impulse is rooted in the “privates”, something hidden, covered and shameful. Even the structure of our human form reminds us, as the male genitalia mocks itself at times with its rising and vulnerable diminishment, and the female turns herself inward, a flower with petals darkly closed.

If we trust that our material design reflects the journey of the soul in human incarnation, as we see with our eyes and feel with our hearts and digest with our bellies, what might these shy parts of ourselves teach us? And how does our physiology dance with the unseen expression of spirit?

Consider the sail of a boat as it becomes animated by the wind. Without that wind, the sail is simply folded fabric. But once awakened by the breath of nature, that sail can propel a great craft into the acrobatics of movement, purpose and destiny.

We seldom question the origins of our own sexual desire; we simply witness its presence or absence. And we isolate it when it appears, measuring the appropriateness of its expression and timing. But if we can take a step back into an allowing that our sexual essence is not limited to personal intimacy, we open up a whole new world.

In truth the human form is a manifestation of electrical frequency. We exist because we vibrate. It is this frequency which defines us, and when it separates from our physical form, this is what we know as death. Just as I could not feel my grandmother in her deceased body, when this flow reroutes itself into the non-physical, our bodies are no longer needed and they begin their return into deconstructed matter. Similarly, when the soul chooses to incarnate, our life force encompasses the foetus, claims it for its own, and the journey of separation from the mother begins. This dance, this union is ultimately the beginning of our greatest potential for godliness, for bliss. And such an animation is certainly not reserved for a specific genitally based expression. It lives in our entire being, and shines from us and through us, out into the waiting world.

To know the full experience of this form of sexual expression we may turn to tantric practices, or spiritual practices which may lead to a sexual experience. These are powerful, subtle understandings, and may take a lifetime, or many lifetimes to explore, but they begin with our willingness to witness our own life force essence. To observe it, honour it, and cultivate it as the ultimate gift of the Creator.  In its authentic expression, this frequency is as far from shame as hate is the antithesis of all that is holy.

If you are alive, you are imbued with the  potential for bliss, and experiences of profound creation. If you are in body, you are in relationship with Divine expression moving through you. And if you are in human partnership, you have the potential to expand this aspect of your being to fill your intimacy in new ways.

It is true that many religious traditions take us on a different path. The fear of the power of sexual expression has led to centuries of abuse, denial and pain. It may be that for some, abstinence is chosen as a way of purifying the spiritual principle, but for the many, many who walk a path of trusting the body to teach the soul, we are asked to reclaim the gift of our life force presence, and to invite it to magnify, heal and uplift us into reunion with Source. We recognize that pleasure, passion and divine love are indistinct, and may be accessed in absolute safety, beauty and trust. Wherever pain has left its mark, we are asked to witness and listen. There is no more powerful wound than a sexual wound, and thus its healing may transform us like no other.

Who were you born to be, in your wholeness? How might this power be asking to express through you? What limitations are you ready to release as you dissolve old patterns of suppression? As an awakening creator, what does the frequency of your own life force call you to create?  I would love to hear from you.

For the nature of Source is eternal creation, generative as the potency of all Divine love.

Listen to one example of the universal expression of Life Force as vibration.

    much love, Adi

  • The Story of Evil

    Dear Readers

It would seem we are poised upon the precipice, darkness rising everywhere we turn. There was a time when I scoffed at the notion of evil. When I saw only the light, because that was what I wanted and needed to see. Then the darkness came to find me, confronting me in the deepest possible way, to challenge my naïveté and arrogance. There is a difference between generating a chosen, collective reality, and wishing for an escape from what feels too difficult to bear. In only one of these, our eyes are open wide.

Some of us cope with the shadow of this dimension by losing faith, settling into bitterness, compulsion, or blame. Others commit to an ungrounded pursuit of what feels better, chattering determinedly about all the wonderful things, until the backlog of denial reaches a melting point. But perhaps there is another way. What if we were to discover that it is not the pain of life, which is inevitable, but rather our response to it, which generates our suffering.

What if our true natures are alchemical, and rather than driving out darkness, we were meant to chew it, transform it, and spit it out into the fertile ground of a higher purpose. Is this not the end of separation, wherein all experiences flow downstream in a river of lifetimes, as we dance between dimensions and realms?

The following transmission is one of several received over the years, inquiring about the meaning of Evil. Dated May, 2020, it prepares us for the reckonings of our present times. No more hiding, no more denying, no more projecting.

    Time is Now.

Enjoy the audio version to assist with integration. I would love to hear your thoughts about this perspective.

    Adi

    THE STORY OF EVIL

The darkness you fear so much
    must be seen
    must be tasted
    to be integrated
    to be understood
    Shadow cannot exist without light
    Light is illuminated by shadow
    We agree to experience
    both aspects
    for they are fundamental
    to this creative realm
    For centuries the perceived darkness
    was our despised enemy
    We fought it
    with our armies
    our missionaries
    our technocrats
    our superstars
    and gods of every kind
    We believed that this was
a battle which must be won
and they were the bad guys
    the other
    the enemy
    and we were the heroes
    the saviours
    the righteous
    the chosen in God’s eyes
    Our arguments were the best
our ideas were the most brilliant
    our teachings the most wise
We were on the right team
    with the good guys
    Everyone else
    was over there
    on the other side
    We needed the darkness
    to show us
    how wonderful we were
and how perfect life would be
    if only we could eliminate
    everything we didn’t like
everything we didn’t want to see
    We conquered continents
    destroyed and enslaved nations
    to show them
    just how right we were
    we built empires
    created religions
    each one more righteous
    than the one before
    We designed doctors
    to eliminate our fear
    of traditional medicines and ways
    we built schools
to fill the minds of children
    with the information
    we deemed correct
    We gathered and sheltered wealth
so it could be controlled for our benefit
by the ones who knew best
    We burned witches
    and rainforests
    and ancient Tibetan texts
and Jews with their entire families
    in special ovens
    just for them
    We shaved the sacred hair
from the heads of the Creator’s children
and silenced the language of trust
from their hearts and their lips
    We sold slaves like animals
    and animals like slaves
    we put toddlers in cages
    to keep our ideas
    safe
    We cut the perfect
    beautiful
    sexual organs
of our boys and of our girls
and filled their bodies with drugs
    and false foods
    and the inherited terror
    of our narrow tribal decrees
    We crushed the tenderness
    of their hearts
and imprisoned our angry young men
by the millions all over the world
We worshipped our guns and our rockets
    as we bombed our temples
    and mosques
while the priests raped our children
and the men violated the women
and the women betrayed one another
    because that is what
    the powerless do
    Our chosen politicians
    shamed one another
with stories of someone else’s shadow
    and they even cried out
    Shame! Shame!
let me give you some more
    because you are the problem
    you are the darkness
    you are the other
    and I separate myself
    in my blame of you
in the hope that I will find
    my own precious safety
    in the distance
    over here
    We have lived these beliefs
    for centuries
    we have danced in circles
    away from
    our own forgotten wisdom
    since the beginning of humankind
    We were proud
    of our conquests
    our arrogance
    our ignorance
and our sanctioned cruelties and crimes
We wrote them into our sacred books
    we decreed them into law
    We made sure to silence
    and attack anyone
    who dared to disagree
    We rebelled
and then we shot the rebels
    even young girls
    on their way to school
The days of our childish denial
    are done
    the days of believing
that evil is a force outside of us
    are over
    And the days of claiming
our own humbling permission for truth
    have only just begun
    The habits of judgement
    and projection
the trick of perceiving the problem
as done to us by another
    these no longer serve us
    these are no longer
    who we are
The stage of denying our unity
is dissolving in its own chaos
for these days have fulfilled their purpose
    We are asked
    to begin
    again
    The false belief in separation
is both the reason we suffer
and the reason we embodied at all
    We were born to learn
    to release our own pain
    and this will be
    the most courageous
    most terrifying
most purposeful choice we will make
    in our experience
    of wearing bodies
    in our time
    of inhabiting the dimension
    of this gracious Mother Earth
And it starts with our willingness
    to see
that all the voices of dissent
    all the theories
    all the mistrust
    all the holier than thou
all the off with their heads
    and lock them up
all the cleaning of the swamps
    the unfriending
    the finger-pointing
    the calling out
    the naming and reporting
    all of it
    all of it
    all of it
    leads us back
    to our own darkness
as a foil to our own light
because when we can dare to know
    the completeness of our souls
there will no longer be strangers
    in our world
    There is no misogyny
no fear of the purity of women
    without a separated masculine
    who fears his own beauty
has been lost to the dark
    There is no political oppression
    no crushing of freedoms
    no subjugation of the meek
without the ones who have used
    desperate means
    to run from their own
    inner powerlessness
their own denial of the shadow
    which crept in the window
    of the wounding
    of their hearts
    There is no perpetrator who
    was not once a victim
no bully who has not been
    bullied in turn
And so the voices of these times
    rise up full of rage
    they did this
    they hurt me
    they lie to me
    they silence me
they will force me to do
    what I do not choose
    they are the madmen
    the monsters
    the demons and the dominators
    They are the ones
    I fear
    And yet
    dear souls who ready yourselves
for a time of the greatest surprise
    you have ever known
    the darkness is no foreigner
    the darkness
    lives in you
    in me
in every corner of our world
    Are you Evil?
    No.
This is the name we give
    to the dark
when we feel we must push it
    outside of ourselves
    so painful is it
    to see
    to feel
    Are you righteous?
    No.
This is the belief we prefer
    because we are so afraid
    to own
    all the shattered aspects
    of the self
    Are you mistaken?
    Deluded?
    Wrong?
    No.
You are perfect in your inner horror
    You are exactly
as your soul intended you to be
    in this moment
just as you will be perfect
    as you transform
    in the next
    and the next
    born into the very world
    which asks you
to dare to tell the truth
that there is only one wound
    the separation you are living
    from yourself
    from your true nature
    from your remembering
of all that you call Divine
    You are welcome to continue
    as long as you need
You may keep poisoning your world
You are invited to keep hating
    arguing
    believing yourselves to be victimised
    You have every right
    to fight for your right
    to be angry and miserable
    and confused
    Because you see
you have been free all along
    The part of you
    that is capable
    of the miracle of choosing
    to return to wholeness
this cannot be taken from you
Not by the most vast oppressor
    not by any external enemy
    not by Death itself
And if there is one gift
of these times it is this:
    The purging of the chaos
    you have kept shuttered
    within your own selves
will finally reveal the only truth
    which is that the darkness
    you so fear
    is as real
as you allow it to be
after centuries of hiding it beneath
the trap door of your heart
    And so
    dear children of your Creator
    shout down
the walls of your own making
    Blame until
    you have vomited out
    all the self-hatred
    you hoard within
    And then
    in the gentle space
    which will come
    like an eerie silence
    once the ground stops shaking
    once the hurricane dies
    once the flood waters recede
once the fire burns itself to dust
In this silence you will hear
the breathing of your own life
    and you will notice
    that the air you inhale
    is the very same
as that which your enemy breathes out
    That the evil you painted
    as unthinkable
    is alive and well
in an aspect of the self
you have kept in the basement
    of your own beloved psyche
    and with its liberation
    all the monsters
    will reveal themselves
    as your very own children
    suffering
    terrified
    and alone
    And then will come
the days of which you have dreamed
the politicians will stop their speeches
the prisons will open their doors
    the children will study
in the schools of the forests
    the rivers and the skies
The four-leggeds will run safe and free
the sun will set on the machinations
    of humankind
our Mother will reclaim her mountains
    her valleys and her shores
and the hate which was once
    the language of our species
    will no longer be spoken
    nor understood
    in the new dimension
    of the reunion
    of our alchemically
    ascending souls
    Evil
    once a despised word
will be spoken of in fabled stories
    as the hero
who dared to play the role
    of the most hated
    the most feared
so the rest of the world
    could witness this reflection
    and in turn
    could learn to Love
    The choice is ours
    Time is Now
In the rubble of our illusions
we are ready to begin again

  • Listen: The Willing Suspension of Disbelief

“It is true that this is not an easy time for anyone. But if we can dare to turn our attention to the frequency within our hearts and bellies, we will find something that will guide us through. We can see that there is no power greater than a collective desire to return to the sacred power of choice. To say, as an incarnating soul, I can choose the role I play on this stage. I can choose the dialogue I speak; I can shape, I can create and recreate my own story, and the story I share with my loved ones, my enemies and my world.

The theatre of the truckers is ripe and juicy with these possibilities. The cowboys on wheels have long played the role of those who live in a distinct, chosen world, and in their finer moments, love to care, to help and to serve.

Is it possible that the many, the very many who cry out for freedom have differing views about what this freedom means? Absolutely. Does each one walk with a different wound, a different fear? Yes, for this is divine order. Is it possible that the underlying, growing river of hope and possibility may transform each one of us, wherever we stand or walk, left or right, fierce or compliant, wherever we have chosen to be upon this stage? Without question. And the sooner we let our assumptions drop, the more we hone in on the delight of reconnection, of appreciation, of generosity, the sooner will we all be set free.”
