I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 13th of January, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

We go to the Gospel of John 13:34-35:

”A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” 

(The second most powerful commandment in the Bible, after loving the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength, and this is Jesus speaking).

I want to tell you a little story because I know there are some of you that are unable to get to visit other people, unable to go out and preach the Gospel to the ends of the earth, but there is something you can do! Now listen to this story: I got a beautiful email early this morning from a lady who said her mom lived in New Zealand. Her eyesight and her hearing were failing but she heard about the…wait for it, the thought for today! This lady, writing the story and telling me about her mom, has a sister who lives in Alberta, Canada. So what has happened is, this thought for the day, every morning, has connected them together - Mom in New Zealand, this lady who wrote me the letter in Ontario, Canada, and her sister who lives in Alberta, Canada. The three of them are now totally connected daily. They share the message and the scripture with each other, and she was just thanking us for doing the thought for today. Jesus says we must love one another. Those three ladies love each other! 

Do you remember that beautiful old song, A New Commandment? As we start the new year, maybe you’d like to sing this one with me, if you know the words, and it goes something like this:

A new commandment I give unto you
That you love one another as I have loved you
That you love one another as I have loved you

By this shall all men know 
That you are My disciples
If you have love, one for another
