You might give an infant a nursing bottle with smiling puppies all over it. You might give a toddler a puppy stuffed animal to cuddle with at night. And you may give your spouse a rambunctious puppy that loves to go for walks and play fetch.

But you wouldn’t give your spouse the nursing bottle to drink from, and you wouldn’t give the infant or toddler the rambunctious puppy to take care of. Why?

Because real love knows showing love looks different depending on who we are loving.
