Some people have it and some people don't. Should you encourage those who obviously don't have it to pursue a dream that might lead to their ultimate demise? We live in a culture where we tell people to "follow their dreams" but is it responsible for an educator to encourage a student to chase a ghost when he/she knows the student could find greater success and subsequent happiness elsewhere?

Keith and I pretty much argue the merit of social media and its effects on society, progression, and how accurate it is in its reflection of people as a whole. If it sounds like we're arguing it's because we are arguing. We don't just talk about lions, rednecks, and pirates. We talk about guns, transsexuals, gays, religion and politics.

I was originally going to title this podcast, "Robots, Dreams and Self-Discovery" but I realized that this conversation was an extension of the previous two podcasts and should therefore be part of the series.

In this podcast we use elements of Ex Machina to explore the human element of model photography and dig deeper into the self-discovery for photographers and why I couldn't do this without live models.

The followup to the Boat and the Model. I give Keith a complete analysis of my shoot and what I just learned. Is small-talk really necessary? Could I get better pictures without having to engage in small-talk with the model? What would happen if I didn't talk to the model at all?

Keith and I discuss "The Boat Shoot" and also the shoots we've observed recently at our studio and also the shoot I'm about to do in about an hour.

Specifically we talk about how photographers behave with the models and delve into model photography psychology.

Keith and I discuss the situation of a specific model who has a personal rule where she won't do implied nudity until the second shoot.

Keith asks me questions regarding fashion nudity vs. glamour and what they mean for photographers. If I sound slightly annoyed, you're not imagining things.

We just printed a 38x70" picture for the office and Keith commented that I should ask Rachel to come over to take a picture in front of the picture. This kicks off a discussion of juxtaposing my process of creating these images with how I am able to appreciate the images for what they are after they are done. This conversation raises interesting questions such as:

1. How do artists view their own work?

2. Why are some artists unable to appreciate their own work (particularly when it's dated)?

3. Why some artists are unable to appreciate another artist's work when they have a personal issue with that artist?

So a model comes to the studio and brings her model friend... not saying names or anything :)
