This week we are talking about one of these most important organs in the body.
15% of US adults or 37 million people are estimated to have CKD.
As many as 9 in 10 adults with CKD do not know they have CKD.
About 2 in 5 adults with severe CKD do not know they have CKD.
If that isn't enough to get you really taking a close look at how well your kidneys are working then I will just have to let my special guest Dr. Frita do it for me.
She did a triple board-certified Nephrologist, host of the popular YouTube channel With Dr. Frita, national speaker, sits on the board of the National Kidney Foundation in Atlanta, and has multiple TV appearances including HLN Weekend Express, BNC, the Emmy Award-Winning Paternity Court, and more.
In this week's episode learn why the kidneys are so important thanks to our special guest Dr. Frita.

It is the second leading cause of Cancer Related Death for Men & Women
One of the most common symptoms of colorectal cancer can be no symptoms at all.
The rate of colon cancer is increasing among adults younger than 50.
I can keep going but the underlying issue is that colon cancer is a disease that we have been losing the battle on for quite some time and if it takes us dedicating a whole month to being aware of it then I am all for it.
In today's episode learn what is colorectal cancer & why 1 in 24 people will develop it.

When I released my first episode detailing my experience with getting the first of two vaccine doses against the coronavirus, the total number of coronavirus cases stood at approximately 15 million. Unfortunately as I type this out the number stands at 27 million and likely by the time you read it that number will be outdated.
That was less a month ago and I think that's all I need to say about the state of the coronavirus not only here in the United States but across the world.
On today's episode I discuss how my experience getting the second and final dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and what it means to be fully protected for me and my family and friends.

At the time of writing this post, we have two different vaccines that are available for distribution. In episode 162 we talked about who would be getting the vaccines first, starting with the front line workers in health care. I had the fortunate opportunity to get my vaccine right after Christmas break so I wanted to discuss my experience.
I think it's important as health care workers to lead by example so I wanted to talk about my experience with getting the vaccine.

We are almost 15 million cases of COVID-19 here in the United States later and with no end of sight, one thing we are sure of is that a vaccine is on the horizon.
With the demand for the vaccine set to be extremely high the decision on who gets the vaccine and when they get the vaccine is up for discussion.
Unfortunately, I have heard from quite a few people who are questioning whether they are getting their vaccine shot(s) and want to wait for the "second wave" before getting theirs.
In today's episode, I discuss how we decide when someone will get their vaccine & why you shouldn't "wait" for it.

Thirteen million cases later and we seem to have less of a handle on the coronavirus as we did in March. In March we were just learning about this new virus but little did we know what we had in store for us for 2020.
Its almost been a year and the pandemic is still alive & well, there are parts of the country and world still in lockdown, and though vaccines may be around the corner that doesn't stop the fact that we here in the US when we had a chance to slow down the effects we dropped the ball.
On today's episode I discuss why COVID-19 is here to stay for awhile and why we need to get used to that fact.
