Lunch with Pippa Hudson

Our guest Gerry Pelser is a photographer and web developer who lost his wife Andrea to breast cancer in December 2020. She was only 44 years old.  In the aftermath of her death, Gerry started sharing his emotions and daily challenges on social media as a way of processing what he was feeling.  Little did he know that his posts would go viral and that strangers from all over the world would reach back across cyberspace to share their own grief and recovery stories.

Gerry has now used those posts as the framework for a memoir called “Chronicles of a Reluctant Widower”.

Today we’d like to alert you to another small way you can help – by simply donating a pair of socks. The Lions Club of Bergvliet has a Sockathon in progress, with the aim of collecting tens of thousands of pairs. If all goes according to plan, on Human Rights Day they’ll lay them out to break a world record for the longest line of socks, before handing them over to homeless shelters for distribution to those in need.
