    HEALTH – DEPRESSION IN ADOLESCENTS
We are hearing over and over again how for many teenagers, strategies to protect against Covid 19 have come at the cost of debilitating mental health challenges.
The adolescent years would normally be a time of drawing away from parents and bonding with one’s peer group – instead, our teens have been stuck at home for months on end, deprived of the face to face socialisation that would normally be a huge part of their daily experience. And even now that school is back in session it’s still nothing like “normal”.
How are our teens doing and what do we need to know about the risk of depressin in this age group? Joining us on the line is Dr Memory Mu-no-da-wa-fa who has a PhD in psychiatry and a masters in clinical social work – she works as a clinical social worker in private practice.  She presented a webinar on the subject a few days ago and I’ve asked her to join us to talk about some of the key points

    PENGUIN TOWN
Not book club but TV club today, as we dive a little deeper into a locally made documentary series.  Our TV man Craig Falcke actually flagged it for us a few weeks ago in his entertainment report, describing it as “really cute and fun, but also informative”.  Having now watched a few episodes myself, I have to agree with hm.
The show in question is called “Penguin Town” and it’s an 8 part documentary series filmed in and around Simonstown.  It’s produced by Red Rock Films International and it’s my pleasure to welcome the series’ development executive Ally Christos to the show today.

The 2020 Tokyo Olympics has come and gone, but that doesn't mean the sporting action is done just yet.
We now move swiftly along to the Paralympic Games, which gets underway on 24 August until the 5th of September.
For those that don't know, The Paralympics is a international multi-sport event, modeled on the Olympic Games, which involves athletes with a range of disabilities, which includes athletes with impaired muscle power, and visual & intellectual impairment among others.
The Paralympics has grown from a small gathering of British World War Two veterans in 1948 to become one of the largest international sporting events today.
Tomorrow, SASCOC is set to announced the names of athletes who will represent TEAM SA at this year's games in Tokyo.
So today we speak to the South African Sports Association for the Physically Disabled, the sporting body which looks after the welfare of disabled athletes , and helps to prepare them for events likes the Paralympics.
