The coming of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost was just as important as the birth of Christ, the crucifixion and the resurrection, because they were all part of God's redemptive plan for mankind. When we think about the Holy Spirit as part of the Trinity of God, He is often the most overlooked one of the three, therefore, this sermon begins a series on the Holy Spirit. In Acts 2:1-8 we see how that the coming of the Holy Spirit set the Church on fire and prepared the way for the spread of the gospel to all nations. In this text we point out the; I. Availability of the Holy Spirit. (Vs. 1-4), II. Accountability to the Holy Spirit. (Vs. 5-8, 12-13).

There is one reality that all of us have faced from the moment that we are born, we are going to eventually die. Kings, the rich, poor, unknown people, they all face the same outcome. It would seem like there is no hope in this broken system of life, but for Christians we know that isn't true because of what Jesus done for us through the cross and the grave. We often see those powerful moments in Scripture, and then we skip right to the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, but if we do we miss something just as powerful. The post-resurrection appearances of Jesus were just as important as everything else that He had done up to this point. In Acts 1:8-11 we take a look at why those post-resurrection appearances were so important. I. It Prepared a Watch. (Vs. 8). II. It Assured a Warranty. (Vs. 9-11). III. It Removed Worry. (Vs. 11).

After the resurrection, Jesus, showed Himself to the disciples and others for 40 days before He ascended to heaven, and in this time there were many things that happened that helped shape these men and women. The 10 days that followed were some of the most important days in the disciples life, what they done in those days set the tone for the rest of their life. They were on the verge of Pentecost, but they didn't know when that time would come, they just knew that the Holy Spirit was coming, so they were preparing themselves. As we look at Acts 1:12-26 we get a picture of what prepared them to change the world, of what made them such a powerful church, and therefore, what can make us a powerful church. I. They were faithful in worship. (12-14), II. They were fervent in the Word. (Vs. 15-20), They were fruitful in the work. (Vs. 21-26). 

One of the greatest problems that the church faces when trying to reach in the world is that those in the world see the church makes no difference to those in the church! We all start out on fire for God, but if we're not careful that fire can grow dim and we can find ourselves backsliding on God. In Acts 20:7-12 we look at 4 things that Luke gives us that every backslider has in common. I. A Dangerous Position. (Vs. 9), II. A Sad Condition. (Vs. 9), III. A Tragic Fall. (Vs. 9) IV. A Terrible Conclusion. (Vs. 9, 10-12) I forgot my recorder at church so this is a older sermon that was preached on Wed. night, but never uploaded. Jesus preached many sermons, taught many lessons, and worked many miracles, but I believe that the most powerful actions of Jesus ministry were done during His last breaths. It wasn’t in a sermon that He preach, or even in words that He said to another man that he taught us the greatest lesson, but in something that He said to His Father in Luke 23:34. Scholars have debated the intended recipients of the request of Jesus for years in this sermon we look at 4 possible options. I. Those that Rejected Him. (The Jews), II. Those who Ran from Him. (The Disciples. III. Those who Ridiculed Him. (The Romans). IV. Those who would Receive Him. (The Saved).

Good Friday is often overwhelmed by the excitement of Easter bunnies, egg hunts, and even for the Christian, resurrection Sunday. We can get so wrapped up in the weekend that we forget how it started. Before there was a resurrection there had to be a death, before an empty grave there had to be a dying figure on a cross. It is true that there would be nothing good about that Friday that Jesus died had it not been for the fact that He was God. In this Good Friday message we look at two things; I. This was no ordinary man. II. This was no ordinary outcome.

Modern-day media has shown is that it only takes a moment for a person to be on the top of the world at one moment and to be crushed by it the next. This just goes to show us the fickleness of human beings and how quick we are to turn on one another. As Jesus entered Jerusalem for what would end up being His final week of earthly ministry there was a great deal of fanfare, but it was short lived. In this message we take look at a couple of unusual things that happened as Jesus made His triumphant entry. I. Unusual Request. (Luke 19:28-35) II. Unusual Response. (36-40).

If you could make a difference in the life of only 1 person would you have a conversation with them? We live our entire life with people, we know everything about them, then the moment comes and they die, some of them after years of pain and struggle and we don't know where they're going to spend eternity. What question is more important than that? In the parable of the 10 virgins in Matthew 25:1-12 we see four things that keep people from going to heaven. I. No Witness (Vs. 1-5), II. No Warning (Vs. 6-7), III. No Worry. (Vs. 8-10), IV. No Welcome. (Vs. 11-12).

To finish up our series on the Psalm 23 I wanted to take a look at the entire Psalm together. Each verse can give us one small picture of parts of David's life, but I believe the Psalm is intended to give us the whole photo album. As I mentioned before I think that David was trying to show the spiritual journey of man and in particular himself here. In these six verses we see; I. The Shepherd is our Provider. (Vs. 1-3), II. The Shepherd is our Protector. (Vs. 4). and III. The Shepherd is our Peace. (Vs. 5-6)

Like any trip that we go on we all look forward to the destination. As believers we are looking forward to heaven, that is the goal that we are all working toward. That is what makes all the struggles, hardships and trials worth staying the course. In Psalm 23:5-6 David helps us to better understand what we have to look forward to after the dark valleys of no only this life, but after every struggle of life.
