Every choice that we make has a consequence, no matter how great or small there is an outcome that we have to deal with. This is the 1st sermon in the series, "The Power of Choice," focusing on Abraham and Lot out of Genesis 13. The choices that were made between Abraham and Lot shaped 3 different major world religions; the Jews, the Muslims, and the Christians. In this text we see; I. The Reminder (Vs. 1-4), II. Reaction. (Vs. 5-12), and III. The Result or Reward. (Vs. 13-17).

When you think of how that great victories are won and kingdoms are built up you rarely think of it being done through love, but when it comes to the Kingdom of God that is exactly what happened. What He might have done through power or prestige He chose to do through love. As we continue to look at Advent and move closer to Christmas, we need to be reminded that there is not greater gift that can be given to us than that which Christ has already given. In Galatians 4:1-7 we see; I. His love drew a plan. (Vs. 4). II. His love brought it down to man. (Vs. 5a) III. His love put it in our hand. (Vs. 5b-7)

Around this time of year there are so many things pulling for our attention, and by the time Christmas comes were usually glad its over. Christmas should be a time of focus and celebration of the birth of Christ, but it has become about so many other things. Advent is a time of reflection that brings our mind back to the purpose. This first week of Advent we focus on the Hope of Christ through the passage of Isaiah 9:6-7. I. It was a Prophesied Hope. (Vs. 6). II. It was an Anticipated Hope. (Vs. 6). It is an Expected Hope. (Vs. 7).

Can you say that you're always thankful for what you have? Sometimes its difficult to keep the proper perspective on thankfulness when things don't seem to be going your way. In this sermon we talk about a man that seem to have done everything right, he was religious, he followed God's commands, but things still didn't turn out the way that we might expect, yet he remained thankful. Using his life as an example we see how to retain focus through the difficult times and keep our eyes on what we really have to praise God for. I. It taught him control. (Vs. 10. II. It taught him contentment. (Vs. 11-12). III. It taught him confidence. (Vs. 13). Philippians 4:10-13.

This Veteran's Day marks the 100th year anniversary of the war that was supposed to end all wars, WWI. Sadly, things didn't turn out that way and war has been a part of most of our lives ever since. Growing up in America we have great privileges, of those is the great cloud of witnesses that surround us. On this Veteran's Day we turned out attention to those witnesses that had led us in the right direction. I. Surrounded by Soldiers. (Vs. 1), II. Surrounded by Servants. (Vs. 1). III. Surrounded by a Savior. (Vs. 2-3)

What gives certian people the power to stand against all odds, to overcome their fears, and to bring victory from defeat? I belive the Bible give us a blue-print for not only the Church, but for specific individuals to stand no matter what storm may come. In 1 Peter 4:7-11 we see the Apostle Peter share with us that we must have; I. Inward Focus. (Vs. 7). II. Outward Mission. (Vs. 8-10). III. Upward Glory. (Vs. 11).

We tend to think that being rich, or having all the things that we want in this world will satisfy our needs, but that simply is not the case. The pursuit of things always leaves us empty and searching for something else, something greater. In Mark 10:17-27 we find a rich young ruler who seems to have everything a person could want, he has wealth, fame, and longevity on his side. Yet, he comes to Jesus because spiritually he realizes there is still something that he lacks. Sadly, he doesn't leave with the answers that he came for because when he came to Jesus this rich young man made some critical mistakes. I. He failed to understand who he spoke to. (Vs. 17-18). II. He failed to understand spiritual things. (17-21). III. He failed to understand proper priorities. (Vs. 22-27).

I don't know how many times I have heard someone say, "The Bible is so hard to read or understand." Because of this people don't read it, they don't apply it to their life and we have become a Biblically ignorant society. God never intended for us to lack the knowledge that comes from His Word, that is in fact why He sent it was for us to understand. There are keys that we can know and apply to reading that will help us rightly divide the Word of God. In this Sunday Night Bible Study, we are looking at some of those keys and how that they help us become better disciples of Christ and students of the Scriptures.

Shane Bingham gives his take on Jonah chapter 4.The Word of God is a living Word, and as we grow it will grow to teach us and to reach us. When we sit down to talk together we seen two different directions that God was leading us on Jonah 4, so we both wanted to preach it. It shows how that God's Word reaches each person where they are and speaks to them in its own way.
