Once a person comes to faith in Jesus the next step they usually take is baptism, but there seem to be a lot of questions surrounding what baptism is, who it is for and when someone should be baptized. As we continue to seek the answers in our sermon series, "We Are" we look at Romans 6:1-7 to see what Paul said baptism was all about. In this text we can see that baptism was; I. A Step of Faith. (Vs. 1-2), II. A Symbol of Faith. (Vs. 3-4), and a III. Seed of Faith. (Vs. 5-7).

Once a person puts their faith in Christ the next logical step would be to become a disciple of Christ. Where you might think this happens automatically that clearly isn't true, as can be seen with the scores of uncommitted "Christians." In Luke 9 Jesus asked the question, "Who do you say that I am?" that question will not only determine eternity for the entire world, but it will determine how far people go into discipleship. If Jesus is the Christ then something is going to happen. In this sermon we look at three factors in Luke 9:23-26 that make us disciples. I. The Calling. (Vs. 23), II. The Confession. (Vs. 23, 26) III. The Commitment. (Vs. 23-25).

Burdens are something that everyone carries, emotional or spiritual weights that have been pushed on us through the trials and temptations of this world. While sometimes God will take that burden from us, there are other times that God gives us people and a process in which to bear those burdens. As Paul traveled to Galatia and started the church there he knew that seeing people come to Christ was the goal, but the local Church was how God was going to continue that work. Soon he finds out that the people have been led astray by false teachers, so he writes the Book of Galatians. In Chapter 6 we see how that God uses that local body of believers to deal with those burdens that life throws at us; I. By Restoration. (Vs. 1), II. By Alleviation. (Vs. 2-3), III. By Preparation. (Vs. 4-5).

Father's Day is sometimes a difficult day for many within our congregation, those that grow up without a father, or have lost their father finding pain in the holiday. The emphasis we put on the day isn't the same that we put on Mother's Day, but it should be. As God created the family, He also designed the man with a strategic role of leadership. There is no greater Father that we can learn from as men than our heavenly Father. This Father's Day we took the Scipture of John 15:9-17 and seen how that leadership and love is passed down through the family. I. The Love of The Father (Vs. 9-10), II. The Love of The Son. (Vs. 13-16), III. The Love of The Faithful. (Vs. 11-12, 17).

There is an identity crisis going on in our world; from people that are stealing people’s identities, to people that struggle with self-identity. And that battle doesn't end when you enter the Church, so many people that go to church don't know what they believe, why they believe, or even who to believe. For this reason we have started a new series titled, "We Are" in which we will break down basic foundational truths that make us who we are as believers. This morning we looked at, "We Are Christians" from Acts 11:19-26. Using this text we answered two questions; I. What Makes a Christian. (Vs. 19-21) and II. What Should a Christian Be. (Vs. 22-26).

This morning we had a special singing, so I shortened my sermon and preached what God laid on my heart from 1 Chronicles 21:18-23. As David has counted the nation of Israel going against the will of God he is given three possibilities for punishment. To stay the punishment he goes to buy the threshing floor of Ornan and make a sacrifice. When he arrives he finds a man that is prepared to give it all to God. When God come to us does He find us willing to give all to Him?

Memory is a weakness that many of us have, especially when it comes to remembering what God has done for us. The Jewish people seen God do miracle after miracle, but yet they still found themselves in a place of doubt. When we come to the Book of Joshua we see change is about to take place. They are about to cross the Jordan River into the land that God had promised to them. When the river is parted God tells them to take up stones and to build and altar as a memorial these stones teach us something about them, but they are also a reminder for us. In Joshua 4:4-5 and 20-24 we see, I. The Stones Remind us of Where they Came From. (Vs. 4-5), II. The Stones Remind us Not to Go Back. (Vs. 20-22) III. The Stones Remind Us of Who Brought us Through. (Vs. 23-24).

History will tell the story of so many successful and unsucessful prison escape attempts but none have been as famous as the 1962 escape from Alcatraz. Something that dumbfounded people of the time, but when measured up to the story in the Book of Acts chapter 16:23-33 it pales in comparisson. Today in our contination of the, "Born Again," series and the conversion stories in the book of Acts we see the story Paul and Silas and the Philippian Jailer. We see that while Paul and Silus were stuck in a I. Physical Prison (Vs. 23-27), that is was the jailer that was stuck in a II. Spiritual Prison. (Vs. 28-33).
