  • 2019 Draft Prospect and 2018 Draftees - Who is John's new "Connor Rozee" for 2019?
We haven't touched on the draft for a while, and it's a truly critical part of what we at Lystics focus on.
The first half of this episode will be spent reviewing how the 2018 draft crop are performing early in their AFL careers, and why some of them have adjusted so quickly.
The second half of the episode focuses on our favourite 2019 draft prospects. We have chosen to hold a draft where we have to pick our favourite players, the players that we'd love to have in our team, not just the players that we think will be the best. Who will be John's "Connor Rozee" for 2019? Who will be Sean's "RCD"? Tune in and find out.
Also, as mentioned in the podcast, we've now partnered with Beyond Blue to help them to reduce the impact of anxiety, depression and suicide in Australia.

  • The true cost of injuries - Much more than just player availability + our revised prediction on a Ranceless Richmond.
Injuries, we all hate them, and after they happen there is always speculation about how the club will go without the injured player. Injuries affect much more than just player availability though, and that's what we focus on in this episode. We look at things like replacement cost, development set backs, and how it can impact the career of a player. Also, given the long term injury to Alex Rance, we have taken this opportunity to revise our prediction on a Ranceless Richmond. Finally, our talks in this episode promoted us to reach out to Beyond Blue so we can partner with them to reduce the impact of anxiety, depression and suicide in Australia.

  • Common Sense - The AFL's New Rules
What a great start to the JLT. Unless you've missed it, and everything since the end of 2018, we have some new rules. We take a look at how each of the rules has effected play so far in 2019, and discuss some of the potential strategies that we can see forming. Also, if you are a SuperCoach or AFL Fantasy fan, we talk through how each rule can affect scoring in 2019.

  • Year of the SSP - The supplemental selection period and how it changes the list management landscape
Something significant happened this offseason that may not have immediately felt that way, and that's the creation of the pre-season supplemental selection period (SSP). If you've played for an AFL club in the past, or nominated for the draft in the past and went unselected, you can now choose the club you want to play for (assuming they want you) rather than entering the draft lottery. This rule changes the game for how list managers should view the bottom third of their list, with essentially free access to the next best group of players, some who are just waiting for their chance. In this shorter episode, we take a look at the ways that it'll effect the 2019 offseason, and what your club can do to take full advantage.

  • Preseason Rookie Watch - Which 1st year players are looking the goods for Round 1, and which should you draft in your fantasy keeper league.
It's always a talking point at this time of year, which new players at your club are likely to get up for Round 1 of the AFL Season. We've taken an in-depth look at each club, and reviewed the two most likely to debut players, focusing on players that were taken in either the draft, rookie, or SSP period.
We also have a draft at the end of the podcast, where we look at which of these players would be best for a fantasy keeper league.

  • Houses vs Shares: Are players or picks more valuable at trade time, and could a third trade asset be the key to equality?
A liquid asset is cash on hand or an asset that can be readily converted to cash. An asset that can readily be converted into cash is similar to cash itself because the asset can be sold with little impact on its value. Why do we tell you this? Because we want to investigate whether the liquidity of trade assets are a factor in trade fairness.
In this episode we look at picks, which can be moved on at will, or parked for a later draft, are more or less valuable than players during trade negotiations. We also look at whether rule changes to cash exceptions could be the key to equality at the trade table.
