Machete y Mate

Back this week with a current events episode. The homies discuss their recent interviews on and give their latest takes and updates on the first round of Ecuador's recent election, the formation of a Left-Wing political coalition in Colombia to battle the hegemonic US backed Right-Wing, and they finish off with a discussion on Bolivia's return of the IMF loan taken out by the golpista government. Also, for the compas oficiales there will be a post-episode Machete After Dark on the Patreon. On this episode MyM welcomes two South America based comrades, journalist Denis Rogatyuk (Jacobin America Latina, El Ciudadano) and frind of the show Matt Kierkegaard of the Progressive International, to shed a bit of insight on the election in Ecuador: what went down on the ground in the lead up to the election, on the day, and the tsunami of controversy that has been fabricated since. In an unplanned one-on-one chat with Austin, Denis lays a foundation of context for the election and material lead up to it, which you will hear first for that reason. In the second part, the whole band is together talking to Matt about his experience as an official election observer and a sort of play-by-play on the entire process and what's come from it. Austin, T, and LeRoy are back this week with their usual Current Events format. They break down the important upcoming election in Ecuador, give an update and analysis on the fallout of the failed autogolpe in the US, and then tie it into the most recent migrant caravan and the contradictions inherent in US immigration policy generally. LeRoy caps it off with a few words on the upcoming "Australia Day" holiday and how it is a sort of proxy battle between the White Settler-colonial state and its Indigenous people. If you support the show and want to show your solidary consider donating to the Patreon. Also, follow the show on twitter, IG, and tiktok @macheteymate.

After a brief and unplanned hiatus, the homies are back! This week they welcome friend of the show and Antifa Supersoldier @socialistdogmom Molly to bless y'all with her first hand, on the ground account of the absolute circus she witnessed at the failed MAGA autogolpe, or self-coup. Tune in as T, Austin, and LeRoy with Molly break down what is perhaps the singular event in recent US history that represents the culmination of what MyM is all about, US meddling and attempt coups in the "name of the US". If you like what we do and want to help us keep doing what we're doing but better consider showing us some solidarity on our Patreon and follow us on twitter, IG, and tiktok @macheteymate.

Just LeRoy and T this week but they recap and analyze the implications of the Bolivarian domination in this week's parliamentary election in Venezuela. The homies also discuss the eviction of Franco's descendants, King Juan Carlos I's Eric Andre level shenanigans and fascists operating essentially as a mafia and they finish off with what is slowly becoming a regular segment, a cathartic discussion on retail and bullshit jobs generally during the holiday season.
