Machete y Mate

This week the homies are joined by the mythical PR Independentist Party (PIP) San Juan city council candidate and activist Paul Figueroa to talk about the election in Puerto Rico. From election theft in Real Time in the form of hidden briefcases stuffed with ballots, to a truly hopeful future for the Independentista Left in Puerto Rico, Paul helps to analyze and make sense of internal contradictions laid bare by some of the electoral results including marginal victory for statehood in the non-binding status plebiscite while the pro-Statehood cadre lost ground to Pro-Independence (and other non-Statehood) candidates across the board. Say what you will about "moral victories", it has been a great moment for an Independent and Sovereign Puerto Rico. This week T couldn't make it but friend of the show Rob joined Austin and LeRoy to briefly talk about the presidential inauguration in Bolivia and Evo's triumphant return. But the focus was the US election: what a Biden presidency will mean for imperialism and global capital particularly in LatAm and Asia, the willful incompetence and ignorance of the Democratic party, the bullshit that are "POC voting blocks", and what the next four years has in store. This week the homies discuss the growing Fascist blowback in post-election Bolivia and the potential for a military coup and post-referendum Chile, how they got here and what's next. They finish off with final predictions and analysis of the elections in the US and Puerto Rico, including PR's non-binding, illegitimate status referendum. The homies are joined by Richmond based Chilean comrade Andrew in a very straightforward episode. This week just two topics, the two most important this week, the resounding win by Lucho Arce and MAS in this week's Bolivian election and the referendum tomorrow (at time of recording) to discard the Pinochet era constitution in Chile and the implications. This week the homies discuss glacial melt in the Andes and the ramifications that has locally and internationally, Fanmi Lavalas in Haiti calling for general mobilizations against the regime in charge, a Brazilian Senator is arrested with cash hidden in his butt, and of course our final thoughts on everything transpiring regarding the election in Bolivia set to kick off hours after time of recording. Back on track this week, the homies discuss Anti-IMF/Austerity protests in Costa Rica within the context of Neoliberalism at-large, the history of Fascism in Brazil and the Americas, updates to Bolivia's electoral trajectory and what's at stake, and Uribe's release from house arrest and Colombia's existence as the Israel of the Americas. With WIFI related dead air, the homies lament the Mythical lost interview that was going to take the show to the next level before LeRoy recaps a bit of the last gubernatorial debate in PR capped off with Austin's San Juan mayoral endorsement. Credible reports of planned RW false flag incidents leading up to the Bolivian election to delegitimize the process and it is all capped off with our outlook of society in light of Trump catching the plague. How do you do justice to 500+ years of complex, consequential history in a little over an hour. You can't. But, what we endeavoured to do was pluck a few of the major points in Bolivia's long memory to show how this wonderful plurinational society arrived at the 2009 constitution. From the Pre-Columbian Andean societies, to the 1952 MNR revolution, to the attempted privatization of Bolivia's rain, we peeled back a few of the layers but we invite you to dive deeper and come to conduct your own material analysis. With LeRoy's muffled audio, the homies put down some fire. Almost 45 min just on breaking down the Gubernatorial debate in Puerto Rico,. Then coup President Áñez in Bolivia cancelling her candidacy for president in the upcoming elections and finishing off with Peru and some strange stuff going on down there. If you support what we do show us some solidarity by giving us a little tip on our Patreon and don't forget to follow us on twitter @macheteymate.

The homies tackle some of the week's news from Latin America. The Independentist Party of PR released their platform ahead of the upcoming (planned) elections, the streets of Colombia explode after cops murder an unarmed man in their custody now leading to even greater expansion of state repression, Paraguyans and Argentineans demand answers and rolling heads regarding the death of two Argentinean nationals in Paraguay as the boys reveal how limited their knowledge of Paraguay is, and in light of an abundance of climate related news the homies have a general discussion on ecology, climate, and the delicate global integrated systems that are on the brink of collapse.
