  • Food Blogging FM 010 How To Increase Your SEO Traffic Every Month

You can also listen to the Podcast via SoundCloud, Audioboom & Stitcher.
Welcome to our food blogging Podcast and here we are with Food Blogging FM 010.
SEO is one of those things that you either are doing really well with or you are not. If you want to either improve your SEO rankings or you are struggling to get SEO traffic then read on.
I am self taught when it comes to search engine optimisation. After a bad experience in early 2006 I decided that I was better off learning it myself. 10 years on and I still love SEO and I can still rank a new site quickly.
With over 10,000 backlinks and over 3000 SEO visitors and less than six months old (well at the time of writing this) I understand what it can be like to rank a new site and bring in a regular stream of organic search traffic.
This Podcast is aimed towards my fellow food bloggers that want to push themselves up the search engines and focuses around the point of increasing SEO traffic every month until you are at an amount of traffic that you’re happy with.
Search engine optimisation is really simple so if you want to make it happen for your site I recommend that you either listen to the latest Podcast or download the transcript.
This Podcast will be split into the following main areas:

    * SEO Is Slow – You can’t expect to publish a blog post today and then see amazing results for it tomorrow. SEO doesn’t work like that and you need to start off by having a little patience. You also have to remember you’re not after a quick fix but to be ranking for your keywords for years.
    * SEO Is Like Your ABC – I will be sharing with you the baby steps for achieving excellent SEO positions and having long term SEO traffic.
    * Checking SEO Stats – I will show you what you need to check and how to make sure you use your SEO stats to improve your SERPS.
    * What You Shouldn’t Be Doing – I have also made a list of what will ruin your SEO positions both in the short and long term.
    * Food Blogging Q&A – In this section I will talk about how to pick a micro niche if you don’t currently have one on your site. Your site could be a couple of years old but a few small changes could make a huge difference.

  • CT FM 009: Mistakes We Made Going Frugal

You can also listen to the Podcast via SoundCloud, Audioboom & Stitcher.
Welcome to our ninth Podcast at Recipe This and welcome to our latest cooking tips Podcast.
If you have been following us on the blog this month you’ll know that we are going frugal. With so many families around the world having to go frugal because they simply cant afford an average spend on groceries and families who want to eat healthy but can’t afford fresh fruit and vegetables. I felt it was the perfect time to dedicate a full month on Recipe This to going frugal.
Well you don’t have to just be short on money to want to be a frugal grocery shopper. I like being frugal so that I can save money. There is always something or other that needs paying for and it is the perfect opportunity to get those extra things that you always wanted and not just give all your hard earned money to the supermarket chains.
As I would call myself……a wise shopper.
I buy salmon, I buy beef, I eat a lot of fruit and vegetables and don’t get me started about my love for chocolate.
But through the current month I have learnt more about what I spend and how I can cut my costs even further without missing out. Here is your chance to discover how and follow in my footsteps.
This Podcast will be split into the following main areas:

    * Introduction – I will share with you my own thoughts of when money was at its tightest and how we coped and shopped.
    * Grocery bills analysis – I will go through my grocery bill during my grocery challenge and explain to you EXACTLY what I should have done differently to chop the bill down even further!
    * What to do if you’re desperate – Are you suddenly left without the money to pay for groceries? Is your pay cheque late? Did you have an unexpected bill? Well let me explain what to do.

  • Food Blogging FM 009 Getting Started With Tumblr

You can also listen to the Podcast via SoundCloud, Audioboom & Stitcher.
Welcome to our food blogging Podcast and here we are with Food Blogging FM 009.
This week in our Food Blogging Podcast I wanted to touch on the subject of Tumblr. It is that unpopular social media site that most people don’t talk about. In fact it has about the same social standing as what MySpace had before Facebook came along and told them where to go.
We all remember MySpace don’t we?
It was the casualty of social media and has become a joke for me and many other internet marketers over the years.
I put this down to the fact that it is not trendy like Twitter or Facebook are and often feel rather old school compared to some social media platforms. Just like when you’re on social media and you see social media managers that are over a certain age, it never seems as good as the 30 something doing it.
And in many ways Tumblr seemed to have this old fashioned vibe about it and often gets mentioned along side MySpace and LinkedIn. But when you look at the traffic that Tumblr has to offer you will see why I am dedicating a Podcast to it and why you need to get your blog on Tumblr if you want to increase your traffic.
To say I was getting traffic from Tumblr without even having an account makes you realise the potential that it has!!!
This Podcast will be split into the following main areas:

    * My Tumblr Story – Find out which niche I was in that brought me so little traffic that I never wanted to hear about Tumblr ever again!
    * Tumblr Walk Through – You will discover where you need to start with Tumblr and what you need to do first to get it going.
    * Tumblr Recipe Submissions – These are like a dream come true among food bloggers and is your chance to get your traffic moving. It is also like having lots of FoodGawker sites at your fingertips.
    * Food Blogging Q&A – In this section I will talk about starting points for building up your traffic on a brand new blog. It could also be used if you had your blog for a while but traffic has never really got going.

  • CT FM 008: 18 & Can’t Cook

You can also listen to the Podcast via SoundCloud, Audioboom & Stitcher.
Welcome to our eighth Podcast at Recipe This and welcome to our latest cooking tips Podcast.
I have mentioned a few times now that when I left home at 18 and moved in with Dominic I could not cook. Well I really couldn’t. Lazy culture and a lack of assistance in schools led to me being able to cook just a handful of dishes.
I would burn potatoes, make really hard undercooked jacket potatoes and don’t get me started about the amount of times I set the oven on fire, just because I did such a terrible job of cleaning it.
No wonder over the following years we enjoyed a life with a lot of takeaways and a lot of trips to McDonalds. But it doesn’t need to be like that. There are options and you can learn to cook in our modern world much easier than I could.
I decided to get the Podcasting gear out and to share with you exactly what it was like for me and how I learnt to cook. My influences and who you shouldn’t follow.
I will also be sharing my experiences from a frugal prospective with us having such little money when we moved in together. It will make frugal cooking look extravagant compared to what we had.
So sit back and relax and listen away as I show you how I learnt to cook.
This Podcast will be split into the following main areas:

    * Introduction – I will start with an introduction to how I learnt how to cook, what my cooking was like back when I was 18 and what your starting point should actually be.
    * Learning to cook thanks to technology – I find the biggest difference between learning to cook now and in 2000 is that we now have a huge wealth of technology available to us. Learn how to make the best use of this.
    * Thinking Frugal – We did things very frugally when we were younger and we will share with you our experiences of this.

  • Food Blogging FM 008 Social Media Starting Points

You can also listen to the Podcast via SoundCloud, Audioboom & Stitcher.
Welcome to our food blogging Podcast and here we are with Food Blogging FM 008.
Today we are talking about social media. You know that dreaded type of traffic that normally takes over our life! Actually as a food blogger you probably spend more time on social media than you do eating your creations!
I can’t remember the first time I discovered social media and the value of what it had for my business. It just always felt like it was there. The first social media I ever joined was MySpace and quite frankly it did my head in. So boring and so many sections you had to fill in. Then after a month you got about 5 visitors.
Talk about a waste of time and energy!
Thankfully things have improved since then and since we started Recipe This we have had just short of 10,000 visitors, so it has certainly changed over the years.
But then again, back then you had a lot of forum marketing, SEO was easier and you could make a lot more in ebook sales.
Though I do prefer blogging in 2016 compared to blogging in 2008.
In this Podcast though the focus is on getting yourself about on the different social media channels. What to do on each of them and where the majority of your time needs to be spent.
I will also be showing you what to do is a bare minimum on just 6 minutes of your time a day!
[Tweet “Food Blogging FM 008: Social Media Starting Points #socialmedia #foodblogging #blogging”]
This Podcast will be split into the following main areas:

    * Latest Blog Posts – If you gave just 6 minutes a day to your latest blog posts what a difference it could make to your business.
    * Social Media Walk Through – I will be showing you the benefits of each social media channel and what you should be doing on each of them to increase your brand and of course for good old traffic and social shares!
    * Daily Schedule – How much time and where each day. I will show you what to do and in what order for maximum results that will suit people like me that are the busy working mum!
    * Food Blogging Q&A – In this section I will talk about Facebook likes and Facebook reach so that you can understand it better!

  • CT FM 007: Cooking With Herbs & Spices

You can also listen to the Podcast via SoundCloud, Audioboom & Stitcher.
Welcome to our seventh Podcast at Recipe This and welcome to our latest cooking tips Podcast.
I have always been a keen herbs and spices cook. I love the way they add flavour to a dish and something that is really boring can suddenly taste amazing.
Take a chicken dish that has been made in a lovely cheese sauce. You can bring it alive just by adding some mixed herbs and some tarragon. You can do the same with a simple spaghetti bolognese with a teaspoon each of basil and oregano.
I can’t remember a time when I didn’t have a cupboard full of herbs and spices and I have loved adapting to the local herbs and spices available in Portugal since moving to this amazing country.

  • Food Blogging FM 007: The Art Of Good Keyword Research

You can also listen to the Podcast via SoundCloud, Audioboom & Stitcher.
Welcome to our food blogging Podcast and here we are with Food Blogging FM 007.
I know this sounds really bad but I get super excited about keyword research. I mean it is really interesting to see how many searches certain keywords have and great fun to see what weird keywords people search or when they spell words wrong.
But it is essential for good quality SEO and to see improvements in your search engine positions. Just by doing some simple keyword research it is very easy to take your blog and times the traffic by 100 in a year. So if your blog is getting 1000 visitors a month you could expect to see it hitting the 100,000 mark by this time next year.
Keyword research is also rather easy (as long as you stay away from the Google Adwords search facility) and it only adds a couple of minutes to each blog post you write. Imagine how a slight change in blog title can mean that your recipe goes out to 1000 people per month instead of 100.
It is also very good for working hand in hand with your social media and bringing you to the top of the search engines naturally.
I have personally done keyword research for over 7 years now and would be lost without it. And wait until you see the free keyword research tool – you’ll love it!

    * A Simple Tool Is All It Takes – Discover how one simple free keyword tool can drastically improve your SEO. Triple your SEO traffic in just one month by using this!
    * How To Write Your Recipe – Discover how you should be writing your recipes in order to rank in the search engines. It is so simple you will soon do it without thinking.
    * Going SEO Rich – Discover the secret behind good SEO writings and what you should be putting in your blog posts. Forget all those SEO food blogs that look spammy – we will be showing you the simple legit way of doing things.

  • CT FM 006: Cooking With Your Kids

You can also listen to the Podcast via SoundCloud, Audioboom & Stitcher.
Welcome to our sixth Podcast at Recipe This and welcome to our latest cooking tips Podcast.
I have wanted this to be the subject of one of the Podcasts for ages, but have never quite got around to it and something else has always come up. Well here I am FINALLY talking about cooking with the kids.
I have just finished watching the final of Masterchef Junior season 4. As we are in Portugal it is only just getting shown here, after finishing on US television back in January. And what AMAZES me about it, is how good these pre-teens can cook and what a great job their parents have done in showing them the ropes. If the ten year olds on that show can make a great souflee then I think the average 8 year old should be able to bake a cake.
This is an area that held a place in my heart because I wish I had learnt how to cook much sooner than I actually did. Sure, I can cook a lot of different things now and love to cook, but moving in with my boyfriend when I was 18 (who has now been my husband of 13 years) and only been able to cook a meal that involved a cheese sauce was terrible.
We spent the first few years on a lot of processed foods, a lot of kitchen fires and it was a learning curve, but I don’t want my kids to leave home in the same position as me. I want them to appreciate home cooked food, to stay away from processed foods and to enjoy their time spent in the kitchen.
Let me share with how I am educating my children on home cooking and what they have learnt and how my daughter Sofia is pitching in at the grand old age of 16 months. (not kidding by the way!)

  • Food Blogging FM 006: Food Blogging Niches – Do You Have A Micro Niche?

You can also listen to the Podcast via SoundCloud, Audioboom & Stitcher.
Welcome to our food blogging Podcast and here we are with Food Blogging FM 006.
You know the biggest problem with food blogs that are not making money and traffic? They simple don’t have a good niche. They want to be a broad recipe site and just share all their recipes. They love those recipes and they mean an awful lot to the blogger.
But in reality Google is confused as it doesn’t know what to associate it with. One day you are doing a delicious chocolate chip cookies recipe and the next day it is a heavenly crispy KFC cheats style chicken drumsticks. They couldn’t be any further apart if you tried and then you finish the week on some pasta and sauce.
All recipes are amazing but they don’t follow a theme. Google is like a computer and it wants association. If however all those recipes were Paleo or it was for a kitchen gadget then you will have success. But a general blog just wont do it.
The same can be said for building a loyal following. Someone that is interested in your chicken recipes might not want chocolate chip cookies just like someone else might not want any pasta. However if your food blog was vegan and they were all exciting vegan dishes then you would have a following that would go after all your content. Just like if you were a slow cooker blog that new slow cooker enthusiast will be following your every recipe.
In this Podcast we will be talking about niche selection and how to use it to change the way you blog. Even if you are an established site and you want to re-brand yourself then this is the chance.
[Tweet “Food Blogging FM 006: Food Blogging Niches #foodblogging #bloggingin2016 #bloggingniches”]
This Podcast will be split into the following main areas:

    * Monetising Your Blog – We will start by showing you how a specific micro niche can send you into an income frenzy. How your income can suddenly be worth a lot more and what steps you can take to increase your niche income.
    * Building Traffic To Your Blog – We will share with you how you can skyrocket your traffic to your site by going niche specific. Discover exactly what we did to take our SEO traffic from under 500 to 2500 a month in just 2 months of blogging.
    * Techy Chit Chat – Let’s start from the beginning and show you how to change your micro niche without it being a hassle or if you are starting out, discover how to choose your niche.
    * Food Blogging Q&A – In this section I will run through your blog as a business rather than as a hobby. Also discover how much your site is worth, this could be the exciting bit for you if you have just started monetising.
