First of all, I want to thank the Hive Open Mic community for always keeping this space alive. It’s more than just sharing music—it really feels like a place where we grow, learn, and connect through what we do every week. I’m grateful to still be part of it.

For this week’s theme, **“I know what’s coming,”** I didn’t want to go for something too loud or dramatic. I felt more drawn to something calm but deep. So I chose **“Abre” by Manu**, a song that, for me, speaks about opening yourself—especially in moments where you don’t fully see everything yet, but somehow you *feel* that something is ahead.

Por eso elegí **“Abre” de Manu**, una canción que para mí habla de abrirse—especialmente en esos momentos donde no ves todo claramente, pero de alguna forma *sientes* que algo viene.

I kept the arrangement simple, just acoustic guitar and voice. Nothing too heavy. I wanted it to feel a bit personal, like one of those moments where you just sit and play without overthinking too much.

It’s been a while since I last shared something here, and I truly missed being present in this space. A lot of unavoidable circumstances kept me away for some time, but I’m really glad to be back and reconnecting through music once again.

This song has been stuck in my mind for days because of its beauty. The melody is deeply moving—not in a loud or dramatic way, but in a calm and meaningful way that stays with you.

As always, Hive Open Mic comes with a theme, and for Week 306, the theme is “Masks.”

When I reflected on this theme, I thought about how often we wear masks in our daily lives — masks of strength, masks of silence, masks that hide vulnerability or fear. Sometimes those masks protect us, but sometimes they also keep us from fully being ourselves. Music, however, has a beautiful way of removing those masks. When we sing, we become honest. We become transparent.

>Cuando reflexioné sobre este tema, pensé en cómo muchas veces usamos máscaras en nuestra vida diaria — máscaras de fortaleza, máscaras de silencio, máscaras que esconden vulnerabilidad o miedo. A veces esas máscaras nos protegen, pero otras veces también nos impiden ser completamente nosotros mismos. La música, sin embargo, tiene una manera hermosa de quitar esas máscaras. For this week, I decided to present the song “Permanecer” by Manuel. It is a beautiful Spanish song for reflection, and I actually just learned it recently. Even though the song does not directly relate to the theme “Masks,” I felt deeply connected to its message and chose to share it from the heart.

>Para esta semana, decidí presentar la canción “Permanecer” de Manuel. Es una hermosa canción en español para la reflexión, y de hecho la aprendí hace muy poco. Aunque la canción no se relaciona directamente con el tema “Masks,” sentí una conexión profunda con su mensaje y decidí compartirla desde el corazón.

“Permanecer” speaks about staying, remaining, holding on — about faithfulness and constancy even in moments of doubt or difficulty. In a way, choosing to remain true to what we believe in is also a way of taking off the mask. It is choosing authenticity over appearance, depth over surface.

In this performance, I present the song with simplicity, allowing the guitar and the voice to flow naturally together. Since I am still growing with this piece, there is something very genuine about offering it in this stage of learning. Sometimes removing the mask also means allowing ourselves to be imperfect and still show up.

The acoustic guitar provides a warm and organic foundation, while the voice brings the emotional expression directly to the surface.

In this performance, I used both the guitar and the voice together as one expression. This created a space where the song itself becomes the spotlight, and I simply serve as a channel for its message.

For this week’s entry, I am presenting the melody version of a beautiful song titled “My Story,” composed by Jude Nnam, a respected composer of choral music in the Catholic space in Nigeria. His compositions carry a deep spiritual sensitivity and musical richness that resonate strongly with listeners and performers alike.

>Para la presentación de esta semana, estoy interpretando la versión melódica de una hermosa canción titulada “My Story,” compuesta por Jude Nnam, un respetado compositor de música coral en el ámbito católico en Nigeria. Sus composiciones poseen una profunda sensibilidad espiritual y una riqueza musical que conectan fuertemente con quienes las escuchan e interpretan.

What drew me especially to this piece is its reflective and expressive melodic character. Even without the lyrics, the melody itself tells a story — one of journey, faith, perseverance, and identity. My goal in this guitar interpretation was to preserve that emotional depth and allow the instrument to speak in a gentle and sincere voice.

Incluso sin la letra, la melodía en sí cuenta una historia — una historia de camino, fe, perseverancia e identidad. I have always been drawn to melodies that carry meaning beyond words. There is something powerful about instrumental expression, where tone, phrasing, and dynamics become the language. This piece gave me the opportunity to explore that space and share something calm, intimate, and heartfelt.

As always, Hive Open Mic comes with a theme, and for Week 304, the theme is “Movement.”

For me, movement is not only about physical motion. It’s about emotional transitions, inner shifts, and those subtle changes that happen within us even when everything looks still on the outside. Movement can be gentle or intense, quiet or explosive — and music has the power to carry all of that without saying a single word.

Para mí, el movimiento no se trata solo del desplazamiento físico. También habla de transiciones emocionales, de cambios internos y de esos movimientos sutiles que ocurren dentro de nosotros incluso cuando por fuera todo parece estar en calma. El movimiento puede ser suave o intenso, silencioso o explosivo, y la música tiene la capacidad de expresar todo eso sin necesidad de palabras.

For this week, I’ll be presenting “Reire”, but in a purely instrumental and melodic version.

In this interpretation, I use the piano and acoustic guitar as background textures, creating a soft harmonic foundation, while the electric guitar carries the main melody, allowing the song to move freely through sound rather than lyrics.

En esta interpretación utilizo el piano y la guitarra acústica como base y acompañamiento, creando una atmósfera armónica suave, mientras que la guitarra eléctrica lleva la melodía principal, permitiendo que la canción se mueva libremente a través del sonido y no de las palabras.

This arrangement reflects movement in a very personal way for me — the movement between instruments, between emotions, and between silence and expression. Each instrument enters, steps back, and flows into the next, just like movement in life itself.
