Hi friend, Sandy here—and welcome to the final episode in our five-part Emotional Intelligence series on the Magnetic Communication Podcast. Today, we’re talking about something we all face—and most of us try to push through: stress. We’ve talked about knowing yourself, expressing yourself, connecting with others, and making clear decisions. But what happens when life doesn’t cooperate? When the pressure piles up, plans fall apart, and you still have to lead, parent, show up, or speak with kindness? That’s where stress management comes in—and it’s not just about bubble baths or taking deep breaths (although those help). It’s about building emotional endurance. Let’s get into it.

You’re listening to part four of our Emotional Intelligence series, and today, we’re talking about something that can change your entire day—how you make decisions. Because let’s be real: Life isn’t lived in big, dramatic turning points. It’s lived in the hundreds of tiny decisions we make every day. What to say. What to hold. What to stop tolerating. And when you add emotional intelligence to those decisions? You stop reacting—and start responding with clarity. Let’s dig in.

Hi friend, Sandy here—and welcome back to the Magnetic Communication Podcast.
This is part three of our Emotional Intelligence series, and today we’re talking about something that affects everything—your relationships.
Not just the big ones like your partner or your boss. I’m talking about the micro-moments—how you greet the barista, respond to feedback, or share the mental load at home.
Because connection? It’s not a solo act. It’s a team sport.
And today, I’m giving you the tools to play better—without losing yourself in the process.

I’m Sandy Gerber and this is the Magnetic Communication Podcast—the show that helps you build stronger relationships at work, at home, and within yourself.
Today we’re diving into part two of our Emotional Intelligence series. If you missed part one on Self-Perception, make sure to go back and check it out—because this series builds like a staircase. Each skill gives you the boost to confidently climb to the next level.
Today’s focus? Self-Expression. And let me be clear—this isn’t just about finding your voice. It’s about using it with clarity, kindness, and confidence.
Because here’s what I know: When you don’t say what you feel, it doesn’t just disappear—it shows up later as stress, resentment, over-explaining, or one of those emotional hangovers where you can’t sleep because of what you didn’t say.
Let’s fix that.

Hi friend, I’m Sandy Gerber and this is the Magnetic Communication Podcast—where we decode how to communicate better in your work, life, and love.
Today kicks off a brand new five-part series on Emotional Intelligence, and I’m so glad you’re here for it. Because when you understand your emotions, you become a match for what you want. You lead your energy. And energy? That’s the true language of connection.
This episode is all about the first building block of EQ: Self-Perception. And trust me—this one’s sneaky. Because if you’ve ever felt stuck, invisible, overcommitted, or disconnected—it’s usually not about time, people, or circumstance. It’s about your relationship with yourself.
Let’s dig in. What is Self-Perception, Really? Self-perception is how well you know, like, and trust you. It’s not self-obsession. It’s not positive affirmations pasted over pain. It’s emotional honesty.

Today, I’m sharing one of my favourite tools from my Connection Tools Vault. It’s fun, it’s powerful, and once you start using it, it can transform how you connect at work, at home—even in line at Starbucks. It’s the magic of Honest Questions—or as I like to call them, Honest Qs. These questions don’t just start conversations… they spark connection. Honest Qs are like little relationship elevators. Ask one, and you skip right past small talk and go straight to something real. Here’s the big shift: Instead of focusing on what you want to say, start asking yourself, “What can I learn about this person?” Because connection grows when curiosity leads the way. What Is an Honest Question™? An Honest Question™ is open-ended, unexpected, and meaningful. It’s not small talk. It’s not “How’s the weather?” or “How was your weekend?” It’s a question that makes someone pause—and want to lean in.

Let me guess—there’s someone in your life (maybe at work, maybe at home, maybe at the dog park) who makes you silently wonder: “What is their deal?” Before you write them off, let me toss you a communication lifeline: maybe it’s not what they’re saying—it’s what they’re not saying. Because here’s the deal: we are communicating ALL. THE. TIME. Even when we’re silent. Especially when we’re silent. In fact, research shows that people form a first impression of you in under 4 minutes—and most of that impression comes from non-verbal communication. So today, we’re diving into the powerful world of Connection Cues—those subtle signals you send without even opening your mouth. Body language, facial expressions, eye contact, even your silence… it all speaks volumes. You ready? Let’s break down how to make your body talk (in a good way) with six simple connection cues.

Ever find yourself irritated by someone at work or home and wonder, “What’s their deal?”
We’ve all been there—staring across a meeting table or kitchen island, trying to make sense of someone’s reaction that just… doesn’t make sense to us.
Here’s the truth: when you shift from frustration to curiosity, everything changes. You unlock one of the most powerful communication tools we have—connection.
Because when you’re curious, you stop assuming. You start discovering. You begin to see what motivates others. What makes them tick. What makes them tune out. And that’s where empathy—and even influence—starts to happen.
So today, I want to give you a practical, proven way to boost your communication skills. Whether you’re leading a team, growing a business, or navigating relationships, this tool can help you engage more deeply and create meaningful, magnetic connections.

Today, we’re diving into ThoughtFlow™—what it is, why it matters, and how shifting it can make you more confident, self-aware, and emotionally intelligent.
Hey, you. Quick question: What was the very first thing you said to yourself this morning?
Was it:
• “Ugh, I should have gone to bed earlier…”
• “Why do I look so puffy? I look terrible”
• “I have so much work to do I don’t know how I will get it all done.”
Everything we create in our lives starts with our thoughts. So the first way to be magnetic in your communication is with your ThoughtFlow. To communicate better, you first need to check in on your self-communication.
And let’s be honest—we are very curious about ourselves. ‘Did I send that email? What’s for dinner? Wait, why did I walk into this room?’ Yeah. Most if us are struggling with self-communication.
Picture this. Research tells us that on average we humans juggle about 6,200 thoughts a day. Yes, that’s six-two-zero-zero. But here’s the plot twist—80% of those thoughts are negative, and 95% are on repeat. Let’s pause on that for a second.
That means you’re not even thinking new things. You’re basically walking around with a mental playlist stuck on repeat. And unfortunately, it’s not a playlist full of motivational songs. Nope.
Your brain’s DJ seems to like titles like:
• “Why Did I Say That in the Meeting?”
• “Am I Even Good at My Job?”
• “What’s That Weird Noise My Car is Making?”
• “Does My Boss Secretly Hate Me?”
• “I Forgot to Reply to That Text…”
We don’t even realize it, but these mental loops dictate how we feel, how we act, and most importantly—how we communicate. Because if your ThoughtFlow is clogged up with self-doubt, overthinking, and worst-case scenarios, guess what? That’s exactly what’s showing up in your conversations. But the good news? You can break the cycle.
