  • Season 2, Episode 13: Diversity in Schools

Topic: As parents, we constantly want the best educational foundation for our children. This playing field is not always leveled equally for African American children.. Various factors such as socioeconomic status, demographics, and naivete affect positive projection for our children. Let's not forget the staggering gaps in educational advancement between black and white children, even when we are the 'right school district'. We are discussing what it means to have a diverse educational experience and improvement of cultural competency for black children in schools with our guest Mia Mbroh.

  • Season 2, Episode 12: What is a Village

As moms, we strive to create a 'mom village', that supportive community of neighbors and friends to occasional cry with, vent, and assist with children when you're in a pinch....We ask, need and yearn for it, with arms wide open. Sometimes, the arms feel heavy from waiting so long, and so we retreat. Maybe, it's too abundant that we treat because it's too much to sort out (maybe?). It takes a village to raise a child, and it cannot be done alone. That moment of vulnerability ...Is it me? Am I stuck up? Am I too proud? Am I not a village to others but yet, desire my own? More questions than answers to sort and process. What does your village look like? Do we have high expectations for them?

  • Season 2, Episode 11: The Empty Nest Life

Topic: Enjoying the Empty Nest Life and Preparing for College. Motherhood is a lifetime journey and we often joke about the mothers of teens as a mom who is "almost at the finish line." Meaning, they are close to the freedom of child rearing. Hopefully, the fruits of motherly/parental labor manifest as they become morally sound, independent adults (by society standards). For some, this transition for a mother can be a overwhelming experience. How does one successfully navigate the college transition and empty nest lifestyle? We will discuss this topic with our guest Momologist.

Guest Momologist: Tracy Hamilton Ramos has been a trial attorney in the Dallas area for over 25 years. Her biggest joy and accomplishment, however, was raising her daughter who is currently a junior at Duke University. After spending years researching the college admissions process to help her own daughter, Tracy created Get The Admit, a consulting company that helps other students and their families navigate college admissions. Through Get The Admit, Tracy has helped students gain admissions into colleges including Duke, Harvard, Spelman, UT Austin, University of Virginia, Norte Dame and others ... and to do so honestly and with integrity.
