REMINDER It’s hurricane preparedness time
Mai and Tai Day idea- Breakfast at Morning Brew or any coffee shop (our favorite coffee order is still a soy vanilla latte)
Then drive to ala moana, catch the pink trolley to Waikiki
Wander Waikiki have a drink and or lunch or just a snack at a beachside hotel like Moana Surfrider
Return to Ala Moana then to windward side of the island for a good burger at Teddy’s
Mai prefers shave ice at the end of a hot day of running around
Matsumotos Shave Ice vs other shave ice places
Find cheap Hawaii inspired trinkets at big box stores like target and Walmart also, because abc stores may be more expensive. Its not the best from Hawaii gifts, we talk a lot about better gifts in previous podcasts, basically bring Hawaii to share, like the smells and flavors of Hawaii.
Everywhere is crowded, parking lots full so plan ahead
No bathrooms available in Lanikai
Go Kailua or Waimanalo Beach, they are family friendly and have bathrooms

Tai lost her sense of taste last week, and is on the road to full recovery
The most scenic drive on Oahu is the breathtaking Kalanianaole Highway. You might recognize it was the coastal drive featured on Magnum P.I. TV Show.
It is one of the main highways connecting Honolulu to the Windward side of Oahu and is a must see for all visitors. It’s rarely a quick drive around during the day, and it is frequented by bicyclists and with narrow passes around turns, it is often necessary to just take this drive very slowly.
