  • SondorBlue
SondorBlue is a super tight pop band from Charleston, South Carolina, which they endearingly refer to as “Chucktown.” Though they don’t share the same endless solos and stoned vibes as jam bands, they do tend to operate in a similar fashion, touring relentlessly and honing their musical craft for a growing legion of fans. These four super positive friends are aiming high, and with their musical sensibilities and skills, they just might have a shot of getting there. They stopped by Serious Business Music in DUMBO, Brooklyn to share some tunes with us.

  • Lina Tullgren
Lina Tullgren is a musician operating out of the mystical north of New England, somewhere in the wilds of Maine. Lina’s ringing, hypnotic guitar work bounces off her vocals, which manage to be both breathy and cutting at the same time, shaping the near-psychedelic textures of these understated songs. The band stopped by Serious Business Music in DUMBO for this exclusive look and how they pull these otherworldly sounds together.

  • Silver Torches
Seattle songwriter Erik Walters employs a delicate balance of blue collar everyman rock, country/roots ramble, and melodic indie folk/pop in his music. At home with either the sparseness of a simple acoustic guitar or more fully-fleshed out with a rhythm section, strings, and synths, he visited Serious Business Music in DUMBO solo for an unadorned, raw performance of songs from his excellent new full length album.
Let It Be A Dream by Silver Torches is available now.

  • Jane Weaver
Jane Weaver is a musician from Liverpool, England. While she is certainly no stranger to collaboration - running a record label and playing in several groups - as a songwriter and performer, she’s uniquely autonomous and largely responsible for everything you’ll hear on her solo pop output, though friends do lend a hand (or instrument) here and there when needed. Jane possesses an otherworldly voice, uniquely suited to singing in her distinctly light but powerful style - which blends perfectly with both the electronics and traditional instruments employed in her songs. She stopped by Serious Business Music in DUMBO, Brooklyn for this intimate look at her music.
The Architect EP is available now from Fire Records.

  • KRISTEEN YOUNG
KRISTEEN YOUNG is a musical force of nature, drawing on punk, riot grrrl, and rock to craft her own unique and dramatic form of pop. Every moment is filled with passion and energy, and that intensity has earned her a huge reputation and praise from the likes of Morrissey, Dave Grohl, David Bowie, and more, as she has proven again and again to be a formidable musical collaborator. The band stopped by Serious Business Music in DUMBO, Brooklyn, to give us this look inside the storm.

  • Joy Again
Hailing from the rich cultural breeding ground of Philadelphia, Joy Again is a quintet right at that vital point in their career between just starting out and truly figuring out their sound - in this case, that means their songs shift from fast and punky to experimental and atmospheric folk at times - but what’s clear already is that they’ve got some big ideas, musical chops, and a lot of energy to put to good use. We were psyched to have them stop by Serious Business Music in DUMBO, Brooklyn to get a look at them as they work towards their debut full length.

Terra Lightfoot is a Canadian roots/rock musician with the kind of powerful, bluesy voice that knocks you off your feet. • Versing
It takes a serious sense of self-assuredness for a band from Seattle to put out an that shares the name of the city’s most popular band, but as Versing have proven, they’re definitely on their own trip. This is very guitar-centric music, with layers of the twangy, fuzzy, and skronky good stuff playing blended throughout, playing with both sugary sweet melodies and beautiful, chaotic dissonance. While they get heavier at times, the band owes much more to OTHER 90’s bands than the one their album title might lead you to assume - think Pavement, Yo La Tengo, or Sonic Youth, with aural explorations that take the long way rather than bashing the hook over your head - but it’s definitely there, and totally worth the journey. The band stopped by Serious Business Music in DUMBO, Brooklyn to show us how they do it.
Nirvana by Versing is available now from Help Yourself (cassette, digital)
