Kara is in pain. The girl of steel is crumbling on the inside. No amount of pizza or potstickers can ease her broken heart. She has sent the man she loves into space to save this planet from an alien race looking to colonize it. National City wants to celebrate their hero and Kara wants to be alone. She longs to sleep because there she can see the faces of loved ones lost. Speaking of dreaming. Someone in National City is having pretty intense ones after manifesting super strength at the event on the waterfront. Lena is visualizing a business as she jumps in to save Catco from Morgan Edge. How will she succeed now Kara has quit. Supergirl is attempting to push Kara Danvers out of her life. Alex reminds her sister that Kara is her favorite person and she should think about that before attempting to erase that part of herself. There is hope by the end of the episode that our Paragon is on the mend. Please join Silver Vox and Green Butterfly for our latest discussion! Hopefully our donut loving, game night dominating, Maid of Steel will feel better really soon. National City is expecting Reign.
Superman and Lois have soared onto the CW. Due to the recent Daxamite invasion plaguing National City, Silver Vox and Green Butterfly are a little late checking out the adventures of Kara's super cousin. I know what you're thinking. You guys said you were not going to podcast about this show. You are completely correct. Superman and Lois' next chapter in life is going to be covered in detail on the Tomorrow's Legends podcast. Our Super Friends Martin, Jess and Geoff will dive in deep week after week as the story unfolds. John and I just wanted to stop by to say hi and share a few thoughts on this premiere. Green Butterfly wonders if any of the stories told on this show could influence or impact Supergirl season six. K Vox would also like the listeners to know that there will be a points deduction for Krypto the super dog not being included in this first chapter. Don't forget to hop on the Waverider each week to explore these characters and stories and as always have a super week!
J'onn is injured and Lena and MonEl have been taken hostage. Supergirl and what remains of her team must make a tenuous alliance with Lillian Luthor and her Cyborg. The Earth is running out of time. Queen Rhea of Daxam wants to claim this planet for her people. Why is she holding Lena Luthor against her will? She needs a princess for her prince. A bridge to unite the people of Earth with the remaining Daxamites. She even has harvested genetic material to create a baby that would be a hybrid of Lena and her son. The Supergirl team tries to exploit Daxamites natural intolerance of lead to drive them away. If they saturate the entire atmosphere with the mineral Mon El can not come home to Kara. The cannon that was their only other option has been destroyed. Alex and the DEO must keep evolving their strategies as the hostile takeover reaches a fever pitch. The Man of Steel swoops in and it seems like the tide is turning in the heroes favor. The Queen uses silver kryptonite to make Clark believe he is fighting his arch enemy General Zod. In reality Superman is locked in battle with Supergirl! Nevertheless she persisted. Kara is stronger then he is. She is our Paragon of Hope. Join Silver Vox and Green Butterfly as we watch Supergirl face the fight of her life and the sacrifice of her love. She will persevere. She is our Maid of Steel.
What happens when someone uses your secret to manipulate you? What happens when brute force is not enough to solve a problem? What if someone takes one of the most important people in your life in exchange for a person that they cherish? Kara will experience all this and more as we re-examine the season two episode Alex. Can Maggie and Kara team up and use both their strengths to save the woman they both love? The way those two squabble, it is good Alex is a crafty woman who is able to save herself. She uses her clothing to buy herself the few extra seconds she needed to survive. Join Silver Vox and Green Butterfly as we are reminded why insurance rates are through the roof in National City. Green Butterfly is reminded how she fell in love with the Sanvers ship. This is a beautiful story about how the ones you love will fall in love with others without diminishing the love they have for you. We learn that pizza is always better than paella. We should never put Mon El in charge of dinner. Most importantly, this episode also left K Vox really perplexed! Why should Alex and Maggie consider naming their dog Gertrude when Georgia is a much prettier name! Until next time this is your eye in the sky Green Butterfly. Have a super week!
What is wrong with Supergirl? This morning she was inspiring school children before flying into a burning building. Now she is acting very peculiarly. Her inhibitions are gone and her actions are reckless. What is causing this change? All of her negative feelings and resentments are rising to the surface. This is not our Kara. My mind drifts immediately to Max Lord. When trouble is stirring in National City he is often found holding the spoon. I miss Lena at this moment. I know in seasons to come she will stand between Supergirl and forces that mean to cause her harm. However in this moment let's take a look back at the day that our beloved Maid of Steel saw red. Green Butterfly, Silver Vox and our super friends re-examine the season 1 episode Falling. Have a super week!
It is the moment the Danvers have been waiting for. Jeremiah has come home. Amidst the joy there is trepidation. It seemed too easy to free him from the clutches of Cadmus. Alex can only see her wish come true. Her family reunited and whole. After a few conversations even Kara grows suspicious. A rift forms between the sisters. Lilian Luther is out of prison and everyone must watch their backs including Lena.
Please join Silver Vox and Green Butterfly as we look back on this emotionally charged pair of episodes. Jeremiah thought the decisions he was making would protect his daughters. With Lillian pulling the strings you have to be aware that every decision has consequences. This episode is one of my favorites because it shines a light on Kara. "Supergirl is what I can do, Kara is who I am." I am glad to have Silver Vox, K Vox and all of you to revisit these powerful moments with. In these episodes Kara was herself and she took a stand for what she believed in. Standing up for people and trying to help one another is a truly super thing to do.
It is time for DC tv to turn the page and enter life after Arrow. What will happen next? Only the people in the writers room know for sure. Flash and Supergirl had to end their season abruptly due to the real life super villain Covid-19. Batwoman lost their leading lady. A new caped crusader will protect Gotham now. She is poised to lead off the new season January 17th. Superman and Lois launches on the CW on February 23rd and Flash speeds ahead with new episodes on the same night.
Silver Vox and Green Butterfly are joined by all their Super Friends as we discuss and speculate what is next for our favorite characters. Sadly for our beloved Maid of Steel no return date has been set. She is not alone as both Stargirl and Legends of Tomorrow do not have a specific 2021 start date. The silver lining of this split schedule is it looks as though we will be getting new superhero stories all year long. Let's ring in the New Year with a fun discussion. Green Butterfly is hoping for tons of super stories yet to come as we enter 2021.
It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Kara lays snug in her bed with visions of pot stickers dancing in her head. Green Butterfly is dreaming too. Dreaming about a new high flying season of Supergirl and all the adventures it will contain. What would you suggest if you were in the writers room? What are your hopes and dreams for our Maid of Steel? First and foremost I wish for happiness for our super friends. Watching these characters week after week it is impossible not to become attached. We learn and grow and evolve with them. Notice I did not say happy ending. Above all I want to see our beloved team continue on even if it is not under the supergirl title card anymore. I agree with Silver Vox and some of you who have said Nia would be a great fit on Legends. I would like our story to travel to the 31st century for many reasons. First Wynn is there and I would love to see him again. I would love to see our Brainy take on the malevolent brainiac he is hiding from. In some comics Kara serves as an inspiration for the Legion of Superheroes. As our paragon of hope I would love to see that come to life. I want Lena to continue to transcend her last name and be the hero I know she is. I want the Alex adoption story to not be forgotten. I want her to have a family in season six. In my opinion children do not mess up superhero shows. Parenthood brings new depth to our characters as they balance personal and professional lives. Lastly as many of you have said. I want to end on the couch with our two sisters talking. Not sure if Kara will find romantic love in season six but I want her to have Alex and hopefully a niece or nephew by her side. Rest assured it is not the end of the super friends or the community we have built here. K Vox would like to put in her vote for an appearance of Krypto the super dog. This is your eye in sky Green Butterfly along with Silver Vox and K Vox wishing you a safe, healthy and happy holiday season.
Here's The Silver Vox's List too! William and Andrea leave. Quickly.
Alex finds family happiness with a child and Kelly, Sam?
J'onn and M'Gann restart Martian society and Brainy/Nia settle down.
We get more of the Alex/Jeremiah dynamic.
SuperCorp becomes a real force for good taking down the big bad of the Season.
We leave the series with the words "And the Adventures Continue…"
Supergirl continues to protect the planet. Many miles away in the Arctic, Dr.Jones is researching how to save our planet from a climate catastrophe. He wants to spread a message of conservation. Deep beneath the ice lays an organism that will consume the energy of everything it touches. It leaches all power leaving only empty shells in its wake. Another thing that can zap energy away from you is the act of keeping a secret. The process of keeping a piece of yourself hidden. Kara Danvers understands that well. Until very recently few people knew of her super powers. What if your secret will cause people to view you in a different way? This is what Alex is thinking about. What will change if she admits she has feelings for Maggie?
In this episode we get a very realistic portrayal of what it feels like to come out as gay. Many of the words the writers use for our heroes match what I said many years ago. I still remember how thankful I was to the writers and our leading ladies for giving us this story. Even though that part of my story has passed I was glad for the next generation to have this story showing a positive and realistic coming out story. As we move through this rewatch I love to see our team grow in strength together. It was fun to watch Supergirl take down Parasite. I hope you will join Green Butterfly and Silver Vox as we continue this journey with our Super Friends. Please remember don't let a secret drain the life out of you. It is OK to say what you are feeling out loud. This is your eye in the sky Green Butterfly. Have a super week.
Pizza and potstickers are just going to have to wait. Something has gone wrong on the first commercial space flight. The News Media is calling out for a hero. We might need two Kryptonians to prevent this galactic joy ride from becoming a tragedy. Both super cousins hear the call and fly swiftly to the scene. Soon we discover that the passenger that this calamity was planned for never took her seat.
Lena Luthor has come to a new city to start a new life. She wants to turn her family's company into a force for good. She wants to transcend the negative feelings that people get when they hear the name Luthor. Thus it will become L Corp. It was a problem with the rebranding campaign that left her seat empty on this ill fated commercial space flight.
The Man and Maid of Steel are able to save the passengers that were in the space craft. Kara invites Clark to the DEO where the team is trying to figure out any information they can on the inhabitant of the Kryptonian pod. It becomes very clear that Superman and J'onn have a history. Clark is not pleased with the DEO director's decision to keep kryptonite on the property however the director makes a good point. Not all who are affected by the green mineral are heroes and we must protect Earth from them.
What if it is a mere human that seeks to destroy you? We learn in this episode that it was Lillian Luthor that was seeking to end Lena's life. Clearly these two people want to take the family legacy in two vastly different directions. A compelling story has begun as Supergirl soars onto a new network. Please join your Eye in the Sky Green Butterfly and Silver Vox as we re-examine this adventure.
