  • MOS 112 - News and Hiatus Plans

Season five is over, but the super summer of fun has just begun. It may be next summer before our high flying heroine takes to the sky again but we would never leave our super friends for that long. Supergirl has now filmed over 100 episodes and we want to know which ones are your favorites? We hope you join us for a trip down memory lane to highlight the shining moments of the last 5 years.

Another topic we plan to explore is a one true pairing for our leading lady. Does she need to be part of a power couple like Barry and Iris? Do you think we have met Kara's true love or is he a character the writers have yet to invent?

We had a season of superwomen on Sundays now Batwoman is exiting her show. What does Ruby Rose's exit mean for Batwoman? They have worked hard to build the Kara and Kate friendship. What will happen if Batwoman is no longer Kate?

Crisis made Earth Prime. I thought it would lead to cool interactions between all of our heroes. What if our show airs isolated in the summer making it hard for our stories to intertwine with others? So many questions and a whole year to talk about it with all of you.

We will kick off the summer season with a movie review of the Supergirl movie. You know the one where Helen Slater aka Eliza Danvers takes on the role of the Maid of Steel. While you wait for Wonder Woman 1984 to hit theaters in August 2020 check out Supergirl the movie made in 1984. This is your eye in the sky Green Butterfly. Let's make this the kick off to one super summer.

  • MOS 111 - S5E19 - Immortal Kombat

It is the day that Lex has been waiting for. He got his invitation to the Leviathan ship. He doesn't have to take down Supergirl himself. He can put the job in the hands of gods that are indestructible. Lex has given them the knowledge and the tools they need. He only has to sit back and enjoy the show. Kara texts Alex 911 and assembles the team to rush to her side.

Lena is not the threat here. Hopefully there will be time to talk more later about the events and choices that damaged their friendship. There is no time to talk about the past when the future is so uncertain. All the super friends must work together before these element wielding immortals destroy this world. Kara cannot join the fight until the new suit is finished to protect her from the kryptonite that Rama Khan stole from the DEO. Luckily Alex has a new suit and has mastered the Martian weapon that J'onn has given her.

Agent Dox cannot sit around and let Lex Luthor hurt his friends. He must get on the Leviathan ship and upload the mortality code before his friends are destroyed. Getting on the ship is the easy part but the ship has a radiation force field protecting it from intruders. Agent Dox will not destroy Leviathan but trap them in a bottle where they will not be able to harm anyone ever again. Agent Dox is determined to finish this mission even if it is the last thing that he ever does. He collapses under the effects of the radiation.

J'onn and M'gann use their shape shifting abilities to impersonate Supergirl in the hopes of giving Lena and Kara enough time to make it across town. The rest of the team is battling their hardest. Dreamer continues to have dreams of Brainy. She must fight on. She cannot afford to be distracted right now.

Kelly and Alex break into Obsidian's server room. They need to create a backdoor for Supergirl to enter the virtual reality platform. They also need a lead on William. He was chasing down a story about Lex and no one has heard from him since. Kelly finds Eve Tessmacher's IP address. Maybe if they find her they will find William.

When Kara finds out William is in danger she rushes to the scene with no concern for her own safety. Thank goodness Lena is watching her back with a new protective suit. Gemma is angry when three gods fail to take down Supergirl but she has a back up plan. She tells Andrea to harness the power of shadows and assassinate the superhero. Supergirl's body will be vulnerable as her mind is engaged in the virtual world urging people to end the simulation before it is too late. Before the Goddess of Technology snaps her fingers and kills them all.

Lena builds walls around herself when she is hurt. She has to put the past in the past. When they were young Andrea and Lena made a promise to each other. "When you jump I Jump". Lena has to stand between Andrea and Supergirl now. She doesn't want Andrea to go down a dark path. She has seen what those consequences can lead to. Yes Kara hurt Lena but in her heart Kara made that choice to keep Lena safe. Now Lena will protect Kara. Lena began her journey this season to do no harm. Now she is taking action to stand between and protect both of her friends.

Agent Dox did it. He trapped the bad guys in a bottle. Now he is alone and dying. Lex Luthor had a back up plan for Agent Dox's moral code. He is going to take down Supergirl and his mother is going to help him. Lena will do all she can to protect Supergirl and her team from the evil geniuses that share her name. Family is more than blood and Supergirl and her team are her family now. This is your eye in the sky the Green Butterfly. Stay safe and have a super summer.

  • MOS 110 - S5E18 - The Missing Link

Everything is connected. Well almost everything. Our team must split up to find answers. Each of them following their own thread that when woven together will shed some light on what is to come. It seems as if all things are leading back to Lex Luthor. Can the Man of Tomorrow wage war on Gods who have been causing chaos since the dawn of time? One thing seems certain. He is determined to try.

When the Sun Eater attempted to consume the center of our solar system the electricity went out. In the prison three inmates were trapped in an elevator. When claustrophobia consumes one of the inmates, Klaus, he turns violent despite the non nocere protocol. What is Lena missing here and how can she repair it? The human brain is a complex organ. When a threat is perceived then the brain evolves and goes into survival mode. The result is a prison riot.

Agent Dox is a twelfth level intellect so he knows Lex is hiding things from him. When he removed his inhibitors Brainy learned that to defeat Leviathan he would have to work with and trust Lex. As time goes on Brainy is beginning to have doubts. How much longer can Agent Dox play both sides of the game? Did the Big Brain have nefarious intentions when they gave Brainy the advice to work with Lex?

Alex and Kara go to meet Pete an expert in linguistics and iconography. They hope that his knowledge will help them determine where Leviathan will attack next. It becomes immediately apparent that whenever the symbol of Leviathan has surfaced throughout history catastrophic events have followed. Before they can uncover more information Kara is called away and Alex and Pete are chased out by an unknown gunman.

William has discovered that the person who recorded Margot Morrison's maniphesto video was using an image inducer. Maybe it is the mysterious employee who appears to have been working closely with Leviathan while also employed at Obsidian North. Kelly remains nervous about the virtual reality lenses. This is understandable considering Alex and hundreds of other innocent people were stuck in a fantasy world of their own design. Andrea insists that she has personally fixed the problem and the platform is safe. Nothing is going to stop the Worldwide Unity Festival that has been scheduled. If Kelly continues to push she may lose her job and more importantly her access to what is going on inside Obsidian.

Lena has pushed the limits of her friendship with Kara. After the events at the Fortress, Supergirl is seeing red every time her name is mentioned. The truth of the matter is that Kara is probably more hurt than angry. Why did her friend believe she was using Myriad to hurt her? Lena jumped to conclusions just when Kara was starting to have hope that their friendship could be repaired. Lex proves to Lena that he has not really changed. He is not the hero the world now perceives him to be. Perhaps she has chosen wrong but it is not to late to ally with the other side. Just because Lex is a monster doesn't mean she has to be.

Lex Luthor discards what he no longer deems useful. Let it go up in flames like the prison. Hopefully Lena makes the decision in time to switch teams before her brother's mayhem consumes her. What about Brainy? Will Lex dispose of him when he no longer serves a purpose? Nia tells Brainy that he can't play both sides forever.

Dreamer uncovers some secrets as she slumbers. Her vision leads both teams to Oregon. Supergirl and Rama Khan have a battle of Earth shattering consequences. J'onn and M'gann minimize the damage from below using their terraform abilities. Agent Dox shuts out the super friends insisting that Rama Khan be taken to the DEO. The DEO is right where the villain wants to be. Supergirl tries to subdue Rama Khan but the tables are turned. Rama Khan draws all the kryptonite to himself incapacitating the Girl of Steel.

The DEO is reduced to a pile of rubble and Rama Khan has escaped. Leviathan now has kryptonite and a stolen weapon from the Fortress of Solitude. Andrea is adamant the Worldwide Unity Festival will take place. The good news is everyone seems safe for now. Lena wants to help defeat Lex and Leviathan. Will Lex's invitation to the ship be all that he hopes for? What will happen to the citizens of Earth as they converge in a virtual space? Who kidnapped William? One thing I know for sure is that your eye in the sky Green Butterfly will tell you the latest as this story flies to its conclusion.

  • MOS 109 - S5E17 - Deus Lex Machina

During the Crisis on Infinite Earths Lex helped the other heroes save the World. Lex is always a man looking for an opening. He is always looking for an opportunity to do things his way. The Multiverse has become one. Lex Luthor is now branded a hero. He is the recipient of a Nobel Peace Prize. Lex the man of tomorrow who still can't let go of yesterday.

Margot is dead. Will this shed any light on the mysterious organization she worked for? Lex is two steps ahead. Lex successfully links Margot with Amy Sapphire. Amy is the woman who blames Obsidian for her husband's demise. Technology is painted as the villain and Leviathan can remain safely tucked in the shadows. This does not make Leviathan immune to Lex's manipulations.

Miss Tesmacher is going to be a valuable pawn in this game. She has been working as a Leviathan assassin. Leviathan has killed her father and threatens the life of her mother. Lex promises to protect Miss Tesmacher's mother. Miss Tessmacher is now on the Platinum Project at Obsidian. She can be Lex's eyes and ears in Obsidian. Intelligence gathered from Obsidian will be the key to earning a place into Leviathan's inner circle. If you want to take an organization down a good place to strike is on the inside.

Agent Dox heads to the tower with the solution our Super Friends are looking for. Myriad can change the Q waves so that J'onn can find the missing people. One problem is solved but the creature that just passed the window could threaten the entire solar system. How did the Sun Eater get out of the Fortress of Solitude? Lex needs something to cause panic to motivate people to enter virtual reality in mass amounts. A creature that eats the Sun should do the trick right?

The help we need now is truly not of this world. Thank goodness Malefic heard the distress via the Q waves and sent M'gann to help. The hydrogen weapons on her ship should be able to help against this star eating monster. In space J'onn loses his grip on the explosive device and is nearly hurled into the Sun. Supergirl arrives in the Lexosuit, explodes the hydrogen, and reduces the Sun Eater to a much more manageable size.

Lena is so angry when she realizes that Myriad is being used. Supergirl had told her it was too dangerous to leave the Fortress. Lena feels it is being used against her to interrupt the frequency she is using for Non Nocere. Myriad is being used because it was the only option to help find Leviathan victims, not to thwart Lena Luthor. Her brother is behind this as well of course. He doesn't want his sister close to the Kryptonian. This should prevent Lena from going to game night anytime soon. Lex wants his sister on his side at least as long as it suits his purpose.

Lillian Luthor is afraid her son is distracted. She warns him of repeating past mistakes. His obsession with taking down Kryptonians has killed him before. In this World he has a lot of power. This World views him as a hero. His mother does not want his judgement clouded by a vendetta, however as I said before Lex is set on doing this his way. He refuses to back down. He says that he must destroy Supergirl but he is a mortal man and many mortals have tried. When this is all over Lex Luthor hopes to transcend mortality. He wants to live forever. He wants to be a God. Can Supergirl withstand the wrath of a God? What will Lex do now that he has entered the Kryptonian sanctuary? Lena said Lex in the Fortress would be chaos and I fear she is right.

  • MOS 108 - S5E16 - Alex In Wonderland

The citizens of National City have found a new solution to dealing with pain and trauma. The answer to solving their problems is to lose themselves in the virtual world. According to Obsidian North virtual reality is perfect for dealing with stress and working out your problems. Maybe even make your wildest dreams come true. What if you were to get lost? What if you couldn't find the way out? What if what started as virtual reality is reality to you now?

Alex is in pain from the loss of Jeremiah. She was so close to her father they could finish each other's sentences. He depended on her for many things. She was expected to help her mother and look out for her little sister. Jeremiah often treated Alex like an equal. Often forgetting that she was just a child herself. Alex screams that she has lost him so many times she does not feel compelled to accompany Kara to Midvale to bury their father and comfort their mother. She also pushes Kelly away. She is making it clear that she just wants to be left alone with a bottle of wine.

Since Kara has left for Midvale, William enlists Kelly to help in his investigation. He believes there is some nefarious motive for the Lex Luthor world tour. Kelly is still wondering why her concerns with the faulty virtual reality fail safe button have not been addressed. Andrea says the service request is hung up in the board of directors and she will take care of it. William tracked down a warehouse address linked to an IP address. While William continues to investigate. Kelly goes to check on Alex.

Alex has decided to escape from the real world for a while into the virtual world of her choice. What if she were Supergirl? At first she is excited to expel some of her anger by punching stuff. However when a dragon attacks the City she realizes that some of Kara's powers are not as easy to use as they look. When she discovers that Kara was taken by Hank Henshaw she springs into action. Helping her sister and the City is second nature to Alex both in this world and in reality.

Kelly finds Alex on the couch. The contact lenses have turned red. Something is wrong. Alex is not responding to the shot of adrenaline. Time for the next step. Kelly must go in and pull her out. Alex is so deeply involved in the event taking place in the virtual world that she refuses to believe that what she is experiencing is not real. She always had to depend on herself so maybe another version of Alex can convince our Alex to return to the real world.

When William makes it to the warehouse it appears empty. Sometimes what you see can be deceiving. When William finds an identification bracelet on the ground he knows he has to keep looking. There is more here than meets the eye. Young Alex is able to tell her older self exactly what she needed to hear. Even if Alex was Supergirl she still couldn't have saved her father. She is not Kara and she doesn't have Kryptonian powers but Alex Danvers is a hero. Every day she protects her City, helps her sister and mother and loves her girlfriend. That is the kind of woman she is.

Many questions still remain. Where is Lena? What is Lex doing with these satellites? What about Gemma Cooper? Why is the failsafe not fixed? Is it because they want to lock people in this dream world? Is this warehouse where Margo is watching over people lost to the real world? Is she the only one? Alex talked to some people inside virtual reality that were losing their sense of self. Could there be more? Until next time National City. This is your eye in sky Green Butterfly. Stay safe, take care of each other and have a super week.

  • MOS 107 - S5E15 - Reality Bytes

Someone wants Dreamer to take off her cape. He says we don't need a Superhero like her. He is targeting members of the transgendered community to get her attention. Across town at Obsidian North Kelly detects a problem with the technology. This new virtual reality is so immersive it connects to your biometrics. If you get too stressed a red button appears that should eject you from the scenario. When it fails Kelly must pull the patrons out with adrenaline. She must report this bug to Andrea.

Yvette is not going to let Nia spend another Friday night on the couch. She invites her to come along to a club where she is meeting her new boyfriend. She met him through Upswipz, the hottest dating app in National City. Unfortunately for Yvette this date is a sham. He is just using her to get to Dreamer. Nia is understandably enraged and has very little patience with the Police sluggish response to the situation. This is Dreamers community, therefore this is personal.

Alex is still struggling with her new Martian weapon J'onn reminds her to be patient. The weapon needs time to bond. Training is put on hold when they get a new case to investigate. Al's brother Trevor has been missing for a week and the Police are writing it off as a virtual reality bender. J'onn goes to Al's house to find an object to help him search with his psychic power. Alex is off to Obsidian to dive into the world of Virtual Las Vegas.

All is going well at first. Kelly is guiding Alex through the world that Obsidian has built. However, advanced users are allowed to add on to this place. These user created spaces take time to catalog and can have unexpected consequences. A user created a house that looks like it was constructed for a horror movie. Once Alex reaches a certain point in this house she loses touch with Kelly. She must go on alone.

This really is a house or horrors where Alex is forced to relive when a foe tries to drown her. She pleads with the users stuck in the water tanks to say the command that will end the simulation. They tell her they have tried with no success to end their torture. You see with this generation of Obsidian technology it gets integrated into your biometrics. Which means your body believes it is real even if it is not. After saving the men in the water tanks Alex heads to the next room. There she finds Trevor exploding over and over. She tries to calm him. He can control his experience if he focuses. J'onn has discovered the motive for why Trevor is being subjected to an endless loop of torture. An Obsidian Super User named Richard has discovered his wife has been having a virtual affair with Trevor.

Supergirl had the night off but her Superfriends have it covered. Alex saves Trevor and Dreamer makes sure that the man that hurt Yvette went to jail. Nia will not back down. She will stand up for those who are not seen. She will not allow prejudice to go unnoticed. I love how Kara supports her as all the emotions Nia has been experiencing spill over. This team is more like a family. They are going to need to use each of their strengths. Leviathan is up to something. Does Andrea know what's going on or is she just the public face of Obsidian North? Will the news about Jeremiah make Alex want to escape reality for a while. We will have to tune in next week and find out. This is your eye in the sky Green Butterfly. Have a super week!

  • MOS 106 - S5E14 - The Bodyguard

With the launch of Obsidian North's next generation of VR you will be able to see, taste, and touch your wildest dreams. The important thing is to not forget the real world around you. Losing touch with reality can have actual inescapable consequences. Alex has moved from being under Lex Luthor's control. Her sister Kara is not as lucky. Lex wants to break into Leviathan's inner circle. He believes the key to doing that is to protect their latest asset Andrea Rojas and therefore Supergirl is assigned to be her bodyguard.

Meanwhile animal trials have completed in the non nocere project. Even the most aggressive animals are rendered docile and friendly. Lex had promised to help Lena with the project and he has really come through. He arranged human subjects at the local prison to take non nocere to the next level. While there we see Steve again. He praises Lena as a hero for taking the violent tendencies out of his fellow inmates. Lena's project only targets one region of the brain. The unforeseen consequence is Steve, usually a docile man, gets caught up in the grip of fear and revenge.

Since Supergirl is on assignment guarding Andrea she asks J'onn and Alex to investigate the alien that attacked her. This leads them to the alien bar that gives us leads in so many of the refugees causing trouble in National City. Due to purple lightning at the scene of Andrea's attack the prime suspect must be a Chlorophyllian. That is confusing to J'onn because he says that race is usually very peaceful. Upon further investigation Alex finds a box containing an Obsidian employee badge and a suicide note. This is definitely a break in the case.

Alex is struggling on her first day outside the DEO. It is the first time she doesn't have a whole team behind her and it is leaving her feeling vulnerable. Alex feels helpless when the gauntlet wielding Chlorophyllian steals J'onn's power and lights the building on fire.

Supergirl leaves Andrea in Brainy's custody at the DEO as she rushes to blow out the fire. Ms. Rojas gets so aggravated that Brainy won't let her out of the cell to help override the fail safe. In this reality Andrea is just a CEO not Acrata a Leviathan agent that can move through the shadows. Somehow in this moment Andrea's shadow powers are activated. Was extreme stress able to bring this ability on? The only thing I know for sure is that National City is going to descend into darkness when all the transformers blow and Lex Luthor is not answering his texts.

Alex, J'onn and Kara assemble all the clues. The note they found was addressed to my darling Amy. It is becoming clear that this is a case of revenge. Amy's husband became addicted to Obsidian's virtual reality lenses and then took his own life when the company fired him. Supergirl rushes to Obsidian headquarters to avert disaster. Amy steals Supergirl's powers but she is still a hero.

Sometimes people just want to be seen and heard here in the real world. That is exactly how Supergirl is a hero in this moment. She makes Amy see reason. Helps her understand that she doesn't want to hurt innocent people. Revenge is motivating her. She doesn't want to do harm.

All of our super friends here in National City showed that there are different ways to be a hero. Brainy has learned from the Big Brain that he must keep working for Lex for the greater good. Unfortunately he is getting increasingly worried that it will cost him all his friends.

Will Lex get what he wants from Gemma and Leviathan? We will have to tune in next week and see. Never fear! Silver Vox and Green Butterfly will be with you no matter what. This is your eye in the sky The Green Butterfly wishing you a super week.

  • MOS 105 - S5E13 - It's A Super Life

What if you could change the outcome of one of your greatest regrets? Would you do it? What if Kara could go back and tell Lena the truth before Lex had a chance to? Well when the fifth dimensional imp Mxyzptlk is involved literally anything could happen. Get your bucket of popcorn and pull up a chair as we are snapped in an out of alternative realities.

What a creative way to take us through 100 high flying adventures with Supergirl while also exploring one of her greatest regrets. Each time she told the truth things just kept getting worse and worse. Culminating in a Lena Luthor that was a sort of dictator over National City. There was also a scenario where telling the truth cost Kara her life. It was heartbreaking to see Alex existing without her. Proof of what we always say the sisters are the heart of the show.

In this landmark episode we are able to revisit some of the exciting moments that shaped our storyline over the last five years. The moments that have influenced our characters and made them who they are today. I believe Kara is learning that no magic trick can heal the rift in her relationship with Lena. She can not snap her fingers and change the past. She does however have complete control of her decisions going forward.

Supergirl is very strong but she can not break the will of a Luthor who feels she has been wronged. All Kara can do is make it clear that she wants to repair their friendship. She wants to move away from the past and be forgiven. Can Kara persuade Lena to come back to team Supergirl? Can she save her from getting manipulated by her brother? Lex has made it clear he will only be on Lena's side as long as it serves himself. We have to tune in in two weeks to see what happens next.

  • MOS 104 - S5E12 - Back From The Future Part Two

"Back From The Future Part Two" brings us back to Winn and his father's dark cloud over his son's life. With Supergirl's help Winn finds the way to bring closure to his father's story and redeem the name of Toyman. Also, Alex stumbles into Brainy's meddling into things at the DEO and the Luthor siblings move things more in their direction of non nocere and the defeat of Leviathan. Or so they think... This week we present a quatro of duo's...

Supergirl and Winn find Toyman's Closure

It's karaoke night at Al's and Winn, who we learn is Computer Lad in the Legion, has put down 42 pot stickers already - hey, they don't have these in the 31st Century, don't hate - William comes through the door, because Kara couldn't not invite him after Game Night (duhhhhhhhhh). They duo on the band Toto's "Africa," which hopefully shall never be spoken of again. A 9-1-1 comes to Alex about a situation at the DEO so she, J'onn, and Winn go to check it out. Leaving Kara and William. Together. (Insert head smack...here) Winn comes running back calling for Super-Kara, "she's super," he says to William. "Sure," is William's reply. BWAH! An emergency has come up with her DeeeeeeEeee Oooooold Grandmother and Alex needs her now. Drones are wreaking havoc around the office and Brainy is already engaged in battle as the trio arrives and puts a stop to the drones' fun. Brainy starts putting together that (back in Part One) Evil Winn put himself into the laptop that the DEO confiscated and now he's working his way into their system with the goal to get out into the world wide web and do some real damage. It turns out that the code to accomplish all of this was written by Winn and his father was really excited about the work and tried to take the idea for himself. The only option is to find the server where Evil Winn is hanging out and fry it. Supergirl and Winn try to figure it out and come across Winn's father (the OG) Toyman who says he wants to help them and Winn is...doubtful. When Winn can't get the kill code to be accepted by the server he figures out that he can also enter the digital space and kill the code from the inside, because he's Computer Lad. Along the way Winn and Supergirl talk about the possibility of her relationship with William and he tells her the story of why he wrote the code that they're now trying to stop. Winn goes into the Tron-world and finds the space where he needs to find the code. The space is an empty DEO. He also finds his father trapped in the conference room. Evil Winn and Winn battle while Dad says he can help and he wants to because Evil Winn is way beyond anything he ever wanted to do. Winn eventually trusts him. He traps evil Winn and our Winn deletes the code, which deletes both Toyman Dad and Toyman Evil Winn. In the aftermath Winn decides to change his Legion title to Toyman to honor the sacrifice of his father and he and Supergirl leave each other with him giving her the advice she needs as far as future relationships. Winn takes off in his Legion ship.

Brainy and the Alex Danvers Problem

Lex tells Brainy that he's going to have to deal with the Alex Danvers problem. Brainy isn't quite sure what he's referring to but he does deactivate her access to the spyware that she is using to keep track of what Lex is doing around the DEO. She discovers it and confronts Brainy saying that ever since he's become disinhibited that it seems like he's hiding something. He admits his subterfuge with her equipment and explains that he is shielding her from Lex and what he might do. She accepts the explanation and lets it go. Winn also confronts Brainy about Lex's plan and Brainy explains that while he has to work with Lex for the future that he is still working for the good of the team. Finally, Lex asks Brainy to copy Toyman's code so that Lex can use it as an advantage against Leviathan. Alex and the DEO staff are working to deactivate all of the smart weapons that Toyman can use against them and has a rough conversation with Lex about the situation. She finds Lex-O Suits at the DEO and they have to fight them to keep Toyman from using them to escape the DEO lockdown. After all is said and done Alex decides that she has to leave the DEO because of Lex. Brainy hands over the code to Lex and tells him that the Alex problem has been solved. Lex promotes Brainy to Director Querl Dox of the DEO.

The Luthor Siblings Get Their Groove

Virtual Andrea Rojas sits down on a virtual chair at a virtual table to eat a virtual lobster. And she goes into anaphylactic shock. She wakes up and there is Kelly Olsen - Oh, hi Kelly! It seems there's a problem with the bio-interface for the new fangled Obsidian North Lenses 2.75 model that causes the body to react in a toxic type fashion. Just in time Lena Luthor is at Andrea's office ready to assist in making the new generation lenses less toxic. Andrea says she'd hate to put their friendship at risk again so the answer is no, thank you. Lex gets the background info he needs on Gemma Cooper and stalks her at a local restaurant and proposes that they get in bed together - business wise, of course. He sells her that he's got the people and the tech help that Obsidian needs but Andrea stands in the way. Gemma, as Chairman of the Board, goes to Andrea and shames her into taking Lena's help. Lex also asks Lena if he can help with her project. She says she doesn't need anyone murdered and he firmly states that he has lots of other skills! She is shocked by his caring about feelings and asking for permission and other basic humanity type things. It's truly a new world, he says. Andrea calls Lena and gives in. Lena later talks with Lex and asks what he did to make Andrea come on board and he truthfully says that he brought it up to Gemma who applied the appropriate pressure. We see Gamemnae and Margot sitting together and G tells M to let "The Anointed One" that the Authors are right where Leviathan wants them.

Tis Better Not To Have Lied and Loved than Never To Have Loved At All...

William asks out Kara on a date after the karaoke that shall never again be referenced. Without answering him she has to lie about her DeeeeeeEeee Oooooold Grandmother to leave the bar. She later tells Winn that because her friendship with Lena blew up because of the deception about her identity there's no way that she's starting a relationship based on lies. Winn's like "why are we talking about a relationship? Let's just start with a date and see if it's something you want to even pursue. Baby steps, baby steps." Later at CatCo she approaches William probably to say yes to a date but before she can say anything he pulls out a puzzle he bought for sick Grandma and Kara nervously says she just doesn't feel that way about him. She and Alex commiserate on her couch that she flubbed it and there's a knock on her door. Who's there? Mr. Mxyzptlk!

    Conclusion

There are times when you get back together with a friend that you haven't seen in years and you pick right back up where you are just like you never left. That was Winn and Super-Kara in this episode. Winn knows Kara and Supergirl in ways that others simply do not and the writers and director were able to bring us back into that space with them so comfortable with each other once again. They were also able to build upon Winn's character in a short amount of time and continue to advance him and have him grow in his appreciation for what he was able to resolve and in his appreciation for all that he now has. I thoroughly enjoyed the time that we got to spend with him and am glad he will also be back for the very special 100th episode next week. I'm frankly surprised at the change of having Alex leave the DEO and am finding her character writing lacking in this otherwise solid season. Kara and William have me rolling my eyes so far in the back of my head that I'm in fear of serious injury. I can't wait to celebrate the big 100 next week and see what Mr. Mxy has in store for our Supergirl and us!
