-He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked- -1 Jn 2-6-. In John's simple language, there is a claim made and a claim tested.--The claim made is of deep and enduring attachment to Jesus Christ, to have his life in us.--The claim is tested by whether or not we live as we ought in the light of that claim-that you yourself walk as Jesus walked through this world, in obedience to his heavenly Father.--And so the claim must be applied to us-whether or not we have this life, claim this life, or live this life.

Moving on with the mission to Macedonia, the journey of Paul and his companions is interrupted by a certain slave girl, who is caught in a double bondage-both to Satan and her masters. --But by the authority and through the power of the name of Jesus Christ, she is set free, much to the disapproval of her masters. Consequently, Paul and Silas are unjustly arrested, unfairly tried, brutally beaten, and wrongfully imprisoned.--All who have been powerfully liberated by Jesus Christ, from Satan and sin, will likewise suffer. All who have found freedom through the Gospel and are faithful in its proclamation, will be hated by the world and opposed by the same spiritual forces of darkness.

Why does God work in his people the rich resurrection realities of life in Christ, being raised up and seated in the heavenlies together with him---The Lord intends to put something on display- to hold something prominent before the eyes of men and angels.--He intends to put his grace and kindness on display- all the wonder of divine goodness revealed in Christ, freely bestowed on the utterly undeserving.--He intends to put his grace and kindness on perpetual display- now and forever these divine goodnesses shine forth, to the praise of the glory of his grace.--We then, should be rebuked for our materialism, are offered peace in our trouble, and find comfort in our time of need.
