When sales slump, production goes awry, leadership is AWOL, attitudes sour, turnover starts creeping up, there is increasing conflict, complaints, and a general bad attitude across the board, managers tend to turn to issuing their own internal culture assessment. These culture assessments are a great tool to get to the bottom of the issues. However, having someone internally such as HR administer the assessment is the worst mistake you could make. Why you ask?
Rich and Maikel will answer this question on today's episode of Mainline Executive Coaching ACT.

You may have been born naturally attractive, tall, or muscular but you were not a natural born leader. Sorry if this bursts your bubble, but it is true. The idea that there are natural born leaders is a myth, plain and simple. Leadership takes learning, practice, experience, time, due diligence, and even more. You have to learn some hard lessons by doing. And you were not born with those lessons already learned. Deciding on which place to pull your head from may be the first step, but a big step in the right direction. Join us on this episode of Mainline Executive Coaching ACT as we continue our discussion on leadership development.

Leadership failure can be caused by many factors including the leader’s lack of experience, poor communication skills, and conflicts with other leaders. However, there is one aspect of leadership that will gaurantee your failure: failing to develop your own skills as a leader. Leadership is a responsibility that no one should take lightly and a title does not indicate you are a leader or that you have suddenly developed the skills required for leadership in today's business world. So how do you avoid this career killing pitfall? Rich and Maikel will divulge the secret on today's episode of Mainline Executive Coaching ACT.

Recent surveys show that young leaders are getting into their first supervisory or management role between the ages of 26 and 30. However, the average age of employees that are starting in leadership development is 42 years of age. That is a gap of more than a decade! This points to the fact that organizations are waiting too long to develop leadership talent, and people are not focusing in on their own development as leaders. Not only are they waiting too long, organizations often reserve the most powerful leadership development experiences for senior executives and those in the upper levels of middle management. And we wonder why emerging leaders are over worked, over stressed, hitting barriers early in their careers, and leadership turnover is at an all time high.
Chris Jensen has over 35 years experience in high-level leadership roles including special forces, military, government, private sector, and has developed multiple companies. He is currently working with several emerging leaders in business and leadership development. Rich and Chris talk about the importance of leadership development early in a person's career on this episode of Mainline Executive Caoching ACT.

Leaders must, at all times, be aware of their own behavioral footprint. The greatest leaders among us truly understand how their actions, big or small, affect everything around them. Simply put, leaders do not have the luxury of not being aware of their interconnectedness and must understand that first impressions are renewed each and every day. This includes showing up early and being prepared for the day. Creating those opportunities early that will allow them to further connect to the people around them without the distractions that we can creat for ourselves by not showing up early. Rich and Maikel will unpack this topic on this episode of Mainline Executive Coaching ACT.
