Millenials are in over 44% of all leadership positions globally. According to Korn Ferry, the average age when millenials obtain their first leadership role is at age 30. However, according to Harvard Business Review, the average age for those starting in formal leadership development is 42 years old, which also includes organizations that are providing coaching for their employees. That is a 12 year gap between first time leadership roles and being formally developed as a leader. It is no wonder that leadership turnover is at an all time high! Cedric Konan is an Executive Coach that lives and practices in London. He has some unique insight into millenial leadership development. So much has happened over the past decade in regards to leadership in the United States. Gallup polls show a steady decrease in how favorable the world views the United States from a high of 79% in 2002, to only 48% today. Is it a matter of Republican vs Democrat? Left vs Right? The last couple of years have shown us that businesses that were able to quickly adapt to the pandemic and pivot as needed survived and are doing better than those who were not able to change. Even prior to the pandemic, companies were attempting to embrace real change in the quest to establish a vibrant and enviable culture.
