Our listeners kick off the morning by receiving a ton of texts from listeners wishing them safety on their way into the show. After the debacle of them going 45 minutes out of their way to make it to our WISS Studio yesterday morning, the guys arrive on time and are also bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. Later in the hour, our own Lisa Hale from our news department and host of NEWisco Weekend joins to promote this weekend's program. The team gets off the rails with a conversation about spiders because Lisa is the mom of two tarantulas.

Kate Stel with the Oshkosh Public Museum has some fun with the guys and talks about their "Day of the Dead" program that is coming up on November 2nd. We also learn that her dog is NOT a fan of Halloween because of the trick-or-treaters and that she never got to go trick-or-treating as a child. We're very sad about that. :( Then we welcome Caitlin MacWilliams from Discover Oshkosh! We love the energy of the folks here! She shares a few of the Halloween and the holiday season events that are in store when you come visit.

Guests: Kate Stel, Caitlin MacWilliamsJohn Holland who is the Public Information Officer with the Oshkosh Fire Department joins the guys to talk about smoke detector safety since we all "fall back" with the clocks this weekend. John also has an incredible knock-knock joke. "Knock Knock". "Who's There?" "Ah". "Ah Who?" "Ah Whooooo, Werewolves of London". Then Joe Ferlo with The Grand Oshkosh joins the show to share some of the great entertainment coming to the venue this holiday season. Today is the final day during their "Haunted Happenings" season, but there are plenty of events coming up for the holidays, and beyond!

Guests: Joe Ferlo, John HollandWe do our Halloween Special from our Oshkosh Studios! However, somehow, Jim and John overshoot Oshkosh and end up overshooting the city and, get this, overshoot Fond du Lac! They had to spin around and go 89 miles an hour down 41 to get back to 601 South Main in Oshkosh. They spend the first hour in our WISS studios blaming everyone but themselves for being 10 minutes late to the studio. This show is definitely "Grumpy Old Men on The Radio.

Chelsea Kocken is in the studio to fill us in on H.O.O.A.H. WI's Veterans Suicide Awareness March on Saturday, November 9th. This 12th Annual event is held to raise awareness for the issue of veteran suicide, to show support to veterans and their families – those battling their mental health and those who have lost the battle, and to bring in funds to support the many H.O.O.A.H. WI programs available to all Wisconsin veterans. If you'd like to attend but are worried about being able to do the entire march, Chelsea assures us you can walk a mile or two or do the whole march. Every effort helps create awareness of veteran suicide. Then we're excited to have Amanda Reif on the show from the De Pere Historical Society to talk about the connection the community has with writer Stephen King. His story in his book "The Body" which led to the movie "Stand By Me". She also puts Maino is his place when it comes to anthropology and paleontology. She got "the bell".

Guests: Chelsea Kocken, Amanda ReifA good friend of the show, Gizmo, joins us today to talk about the big 100th anniversary event on November 9th at the Hotel Northland in Green Bay. You have got to check out his John Kennedy impression. It's amazing! He also does a great "radio magic" trick with a deck of cards. Grab a deck of cards and be ready to play along! Jessica Voss is in the house for our "Moving With The Malcores" segment with Bay Area Realty. She talks about downsizing or "right-sizing" your home but also has some great tips to get your current home ready for winter. She shares great tips, from deep cleaning to ensuring doors and windows are sealed. (She's also a killer pickleball player!) Then Gizmo comes back for a bit of trivia based on Harry Houdini!
Guests: Gizmo, Jessica VossIt's Wednesday, and once we hit noon, it'll be downhill to the weekend. Johnny dug around the house and found some old menus from 1943 around Green Bay. What was on menus back in the day? How about postum? We discovered that postum was a grain-based, caffeine-free drink used as a coffee substitute. How about a lettuce and mayo sandwich? Cheese sandwiches were only 10 cents! Maino also tells a story about finding one of his books at a bookstore yesterday, but a significant portion was missing. There was part of another book in its place! Weird! We get a surprise call from Michael Friedman from Simple Life Hospitality to talk a bit more about renting out homes for the NFL Draft. We also discuss Jim's linen fetish.

Guest: Michael FriedmanJon Syndergaard with Cerebral Palsey of Northeast Wisconsin (now known simply as CP) swings by to talk about a new event called "Game Changers." This event has been an annual auction for the organization, and this year, they're adding some games and challenges for some additional fun and a learning experience for attendees. Jon also informed us that the programs supported by CP extend beyond just those affected by cerebral palsy. Side note: Jon shares a story of trick or treating back in the day at Reggie White's house. Then we talk about home mortgages with Kristen Ambos from Point Mortgage! Kristen suggests that you shouldn't wait until after the election. If you're interested in buying or selling, start the conversations now! She's been helping people finance their homes for over 20 years and is very knowledgeable about programs others may not even know! N

Guest: Jon SyndergaardThis hour, we're joined by Howard Fire Chief Stefan Schaefer. He helps to wrap up Fire Prevention Month. Fire departments have focused on buying proactive instead of always being reactive. They also discuss whether or not saying you're a firefighter gets you more attention from the opposite sex. Chief Schaefer also gives some safety tips for the holiday season, which is just around the corner. Chief also advises young people if they're interested in getting into the field of firefighting or EMT. Then Nicole Stockman with UWGB Veterans Services stopped to discuss some of the services and events planned in November. Nicole also shares the story of being the spouse of a military veteran. It's a fantastic story.

Guests: Nicole Stockman, Stefan SchaeferThe conversation quickly moves from talking about the Packer's lease deal to a strip club in Rockwood. (Please don't ask how we got from one to the other. It's part of the magic of Maino & The Mayor). John does a crazy, scary Halloween story that creeps Jim out. Then the guys talk about trick-or-treating and its cost. Maino also talks about giving out shots to the adults. We discover that Jim has been dressed as a woman for one year, and no one recognizes him. Can you say "Mrs. Doubtfire"? They even talk about the origins of Daylight Savings Time!
