MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN BY BRINGING BACK THE CHRISTIAN DOCTRINE OF EARLY AMERICA: GEORGE WHITEFIELD

DRAWING NEAR TO OUR DEAR LORD JESUS, CANNOT HAPPEN UNLESS THE COMMANDS OF GOD, THE FEAR OF OUR LORD, MERCY, FAITH, GRACE, THE PROMISES, AND THE EXPERIENTIAL PERFECT LOVE OF JESUS BEING POURED OUT UPON US, ARE ALL WORKING TOGETHER SIMULTANEOUSLY. THIS DEMAND OF HOLINESS PUTS AT THE FEET OF JESUS CRYING OUT FOR MERCY AS WE ACCESS HIS GRACE, BY FAITH BY BELIEVING HIS PROMISES, AND WE FEEL HIS LOVING ARMS GENTLY RAISING US UP AND SAYING UNTO US, FEAR NOT, I HAVE NOT ONLY DIED FOR YOU, BUT I HAVE FULFILLED THE MORAL LAW FOR YOU, CALLED THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD, WHICH I WILL IMPUTE TO YOU BY A SUPERNATURAL FAITH WHICH COMES WITH THE PACKAGE OF THE NEW CREATION. STOP TREMBLING, THIS RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD, WHICH I WILL IMPUTE TO YOU, IS A ROBE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS COVERING YOU AND SHIELDING YOU FROM MY FATHER’S WRATH AGAINST YOU, FOR HE NOW SEES MY PERFECT OBEDIENCE TO HIM, AS YOUR PERFECT OBEDIENCE TO HIM, WHICH MAKES YOU HOLY IN HIS SIGHT AND FIT FOR HEAVEN. I WHO KNEW NO SIN WAS MADE ORIGINAL SIN, THAT IS, YOUR ORIGINAL SIN WAS IMPUTED TO ME BY MY FATHER, AND THUS, BEING A JUST GOD, HE HAD TO POUR OUT HIS WRATH UPON ME IN HELL IN YOUR STEAD, THIS IS CALLED MY PASSIVE OBEDIENCE TO MY FATHER, BUT I ALSO FULFILLED THE MORAL LAW FOR YOU AS A GIFT TO YOU WHICH IS CALLED MY ACTIVE OBEDIENCE FOR YOU: BOTH MY PASSIVE AND ACTIVE OBEDIENCE ARE CALLED THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD WHICH IS MY GIFT TO YOU WHEN YOU LAY HOLD OF IT BY FAITH AS YOUR TICKET INTO HEAVEN. 2 COR. 5: [21] For he(MY FATHER) hath made him(ME, CHRIST) to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that WE might be MADE the RIGHTEOUSNESS of GOD in him(ME,CHRIST).

GEORGE WHITEFIELD ACCURATELY DEFINES JUSTIFICATION WHICH IS A RARITY IN AMERICA TODAY, FOR OUR FASTFOOD FREEWILL FRIENDS ARE GOOD AT CLOUDING UP THE SIMPLE. “But ye are justified in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

From which words I shall consider three things:

First, What is meant by the word justified.

Secondly, I shall endeavor to prove that all mankind in general, and every individual person in

particular, stands in need of being justified.

Thirdly, That there is no possibility of obtaining this justification, which we so much want, but

by the all-perfect obedience, and precious death of Jesus Christ. It has been objected by some, who dissent from, nay, I may add, by others also, who actually are friends to the present ecclesiastical establishment, that the ministers of the Church of England preach themselves, and not Christ Jesus the Lord; that they entertain their people with lectures of mere morality, without declaring to them the glad tidings of salvation by Jesus Christ. How well grounded such an objection may be, is not my business to inquire: All I shall say at present to the point is, that whenever such a grand objection is urged against the whole body of the clergy in general, every honest minister of Jesus Christ should do his utmost to cut off all manner of occasion, from those who desire an occasion to take offense at us; that so by hearing us continually sounding forth the word of truth, and declaring with all boldness and assurance of faith, “that there is no other name given under heaven, whereby they can be saved, but that of Jesus Christ,” they may be ashamed of this their same confident boasting against us.

LEARN ALL THESE WORK SIMULTANEOUSLY TOGETHER IN THE FOLLOWING EPISODES.

AN EXCERPT FROM PILGRIM’S PROGRESS: CHRISTIAN: This was a REVELATION of

CHRIST to your SOUL “INDEED”

TELL ME particularly what EFFECT this had upon YOUR SPIRIT.

LONG to DO something for the HONOUR and GLORY of the NAME of the LORD JESUS.

“YEA”, I thought, that had I now a THOUSAND GALLONS of BLOOD in my BODY, I COULD SPILL it ALL for the SAKE of the LORD JESUS.

IN THIS MESSAGE WE WILL TAKE A DEEPER DIVE INTO COMPARING THE ALLEGORICAL CHARACTERS PASSION AND PATIENCE TO JESUS’ PARABLE CHARACTERS, LAZARUS THE BEGGAR AND THE RICH MAN. KEEP IN MIND THAT THE SPIRITUAL NEW CREATION, THAT IS, HE THAT IS TRULY BORN AGAIN, IS PARADOXICAL IN NATURE AND THUS CONFOUNDS THE NATURAL MAN. AS WE LISTEN TO THIS MESSAGE WE SHOULD APPLY IT TO OURSELVES AND ATTEMPT TO DETERMINE WHETHER WE ARE THE SPIRITUAL BEGGAR OR RICH MAN IN A SPIRITUAL SENSE. IF WE ARE HONEST WITH OURSELVES WE MAY END UP IN A STATE OF SHOCK, ESPECIALLY, IF WE ARE A PROFESSING CHRISTIAN.

JOHN BUNYAN, WHO WROTE PILGRIM’S PROGRESS, USES HIS ALLEGORICAL CHARACTER HOPEFUL TO GIVE US ONE OF THE MOST ACCURATE DESCRIPTION, OF WHAT IT IS LIKE FOR ONE OF GOD’S ELECT TO BE SAVED: THAT IS, THE DEEP AND HEART MOVING CONVICTION OF SIN, NOT ONLY OF OUR ACTS OF SIN AND OUR SIN OF SELF RIGHTEOUSNESS, BUT ALSO THAT OUR ORIGINAL SIN IS SIN AND THIS FACT ALONE CONDEMNS US TO HELL, LEAVING US WITH ONLY ONE OPTION, A DESPERATE DESIRE TO FLEE BY FAITH TO THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF A MAN THAT NEVER SINNED, COUPLED WITH A DESIRE THAT THIS MAN WOULD BE REVEALED TO US. THIS MESSAGE CONTAINS A COMPREHENSIVE PORTRAYAL, IN VARYING DEGREES OF WHAT ALL OF US NATURAL MAN AMERICANS WILL EXPERIENCE IN BEING SAVED. IT IS NO ACCIDENT, THAT IT SAID THAT JOHN BUNYAN’S PILGRIM’S PROGRESS WRITTEN IN 1678, HAS NEVER BEEN OUT OF PRINT AND IS ALSO SAID TO BE THE 2ND MOST READ CHRISTIAN BOOK IN THE WORLD.

IN THIS MESSAGE WE LOOK AT THE DISCOURSE BETWEEN IGNORANCE AND CHRISTIAN FROM JOHN BUNYAN’S PILGRIM’S PROGRESS, AN ALLEGORY, WRITTEN IN 1678: SOME SAY THE 2ND MOST READ CHRISTIAN BOOK IN THE WORLD. DOES SALVATION COME BY REVELATION ONLY?

REV. 21:[8] But the FEARFUL, and UNBELIEVING, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and ALL LIARS, shall HAVE their PART in the LAKE which BURNETH with FIRE and BRIMSTONE: which is the 2ND death. REV. 20: [6] BLESSED and HOLY is HE that HATH PART in the 1ST RESURRECTION : on such the 2ND DEATH hath NO POWER. WHAT IS THE 1ST RESURRECTION?

Matthew 22:42 — “What think ye of Christ?”

When it pleased the eternal Son of God to tabernacle among us, and preach the glad tidings of salvation to a fallen world, different opinions were entertained

by different parties concerning him.

As to his person,

some said he was Moses; others that he was Elias, Jeremias, or one of the ancient prophets; few acknowledged him to be what he really was, God blessed for evermore.

What would the damned spirits, now in the prison of hell, give, if Christ was so freely offered to their souls? And why are not we lifting up our eyes in torments? Does any one out of this great multitude dare say, he does not deserve damnation? If not, why are we left, and others taken away by death? What is this but an instance of God's free grace, and a sign of his good will towards us? Let God's goodness lead us to repentance! O let there be joy in heaven over some of you repenting! Though we are in a field, I am persuaded the blessed angels are hovering now around us, and do long, “as the hart panteth after the water-brooks,” to sing an anthem at your conversion. Blessed be God, I hope their joy will be fulfilled.

ALL OF US AMERICANS ARE BORN INTO THIS WORLD, BELIEVING THAT OUR GOOD WILL OUTWEIGH OUR EVIL, AND THUS, THROUGH KINDNESS, OR THE GOLDEN RULE, OR LOVE OUR GOOD GOD WILL THUS ACCEPT US INTO HEAVEN WHEN WE DIE PHYSICALLY. HAVE WE EVER BEEN TO A FUNERAL WHERE THE DECEASED WENT TO HELL. MOST LIKELY, NOT, FOR WE SEE THE DECEASED THE WAY WE SEE OURSELVES. BUT, HAVE WE EVER ASKED OURSELVES THE QUESTION, DOES GOD SEE US THE WAY WE SEE OURSELVES, OR DOES GOD SEE US THE WAY HE SEES HIMSELF AND THE WAY HE SAW THE FIRST ADAM BEFORE HE FELL. ARE THERE ANY OF US AMERICANS GOING TO DENY WE ARE LIARS BY NATURE AND THAT WE LIE TO OURSELVES THE MOST, AND THUS, IT WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE FOR US TO CHOOSE THE TRUE JESUS. COULD THIS BE WHY JESUS MUST CHOOSE US, NOT US HIM, AND THUS IS WHY JESUS SPECIFICALLY USES THE WORD “BORN AGAIN” BECAUSE ALL OF US COMMON SENSE AMERICANS KNOW THAT WHEN JESUS TELLS US “EXCEPT” WE BE “BORN” A 2ND TIME WE THINK OF OUR NATURAL BIRTH, AND WE KNOW WE HAD NO CONTROL OVER OUR NATURAL BIRTH, NOR OUR FUTURE PHYSICAL DEATH, AND SO THEREFORE HAVE NO CONTROL OVER BEING “BORN AGAIN”: IT IS SOMETHING THAT HAPPENS TO US JUST LIKE OUR NATURAL BIRTH. BUT THIS IS NOT POPULAR IN AMERICA TODAY, FOR WE AS AMERICANS BELIEVE WE HAVE TOTAL CONTROL OVER OUR ETERNAL DESTINY, AND WE FREAKOUT IF TOLD OTHERWISE, FOR WE HAVE BEEN TAUGHT THE FALSEHOOD THAT THE FOREKNOWLEDGE OF GOD IS MUTABLE RATHER THAN IMMUTABLE. WHICH IS IT? IS THE FOREKNOWLEDGE OF GOD MUTABLE OR IMMUTABLE: COMMON SENSE SHOULD GIVE US THE ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION, BUT COMMON SENSE IN AMERICA IS ON A RAPID RATE OF DESCENT AS WE HAVE THE ELITE IN AMERICA TELLING US THAT A CAT IS A DOG WHEN WE KNOW THE CAT IS A CAT, AND YET WE LOOK AROUND AT SOME OF OUR FELLOW AMERICANS CALLING THE CAT A DOG WHEN WE ALL KNOW THE CAT IS A CAT. HAVE WE EVER ASKED OURSELVES HOW THAT IS POSSIBLE IN A RATIONAL AMERICA? IT IS NOT THAT HARD TO UNDERSTAND, IS IT? FOR ALL OF US AMERICANS KNOW WE ARE LIARS BY NATURE AND LIE TO OURSELVES THE MOST, AND SO WE THEREFORE JUST LIE TO OURSELVES THAT THE CAT IS A DOG, JUST LIKE WE LIE TO OURSELVES THAT THE FAKE JESUS IS THE TRUE JESUS, AND THUS WE ARE BORN INTO THIS WORLD ON OUR WAY TO HEAVEN, NO MATTER WHAT RELIGION WE BELIEVE IN. SO THEN BY ACKNOWLEDGING THAT OUR SIN NATURE IS THE FOUNTAIN FROM WHICH ALL EVILL FLOWS IN THIS WORLD, IT IS NO BIG DEAL TO SEE THE TRUE JESUS, AS UTTER DARKNESS AND THE FAKE JESUS AS UTTER LIGHT JUST AS THE THE CAT IS A DOG WHEN IN RELITY THE CAT IS TRULY A CAT. THEREFORE, HOW DO WE CAUTERIZE THE MORAL DESCENT IN AMERICA, BUT BY BEGINNING TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE EVIL PROCLIVITIES OF OUR HEART UNCHECKED AGAINST THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH, WHICH IS THE TRUE JESUS, WILL LEAD US TO BE FOOLISH ENOUGH TO CALL A CAT IS A DOG WHEN WE ALL KNOW THE CAT IS A CAT. Jn. 1: [5] And the light(TRUE JESUS) shineth in DARKNESS(NATURAL MEN AMERICANS); and the DARKNESS COMPREHENDED it NOT. [10] He(TRUE JESUS) was in the WORLD, and the WORLD was MADE BY HIM, and the WORLD(NATURAL MEN AMERICANS) KNEW HIM NOT. Jn. 3: [2] The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.

[3] Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, EXCEPT a man be BORN AGAIN, he cannot see the kingdom of God(TRUE JESUS).

[4] Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? [6] That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

[7] Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

[8] The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. WE CAN MORE START OR STOP JESUS FROM MAKING US A NEW CREATION(BORN AGAIN) THAN WE CAN START OR STOP THE WIND.
