  • #29 Starting a Eco Business in College with Seaav
College sophomore and student athlete, McKenna Haz created a line of athletic wear made from recycled plastic bottles. She started the company, Seaav, only a year ago and it's taken off since she won a local CT business pitch competition. She is passionate about sports and protecting the ocean and it only made sense to create a product that beautifully intertwined her interests. Each purchase contributes to ocean clean-up efforts equivalent to one pound of plastic. Eventually, she hopes to use the plastic found in the clean-up efforts to make the leggings.
For my birthday, Seav and I partnered to giveaway $100 to spend on the website. Check out the instagram for more information.

  • #28 Skills Needed in Sustainability with OSU Professor Neil Drobny
It's rare to come across someone who has been working in sustainability for over 50 years but I found him. Dr. Neil Drobny  began an academic career at Ohio State University about 12 years ago after several decades of environmental consulting.  He teaches graduate and undergraduate course in sustainable business practices in the Fisher College of Business   In recognition of his work with undergraduates, he received the 2013 Undergraduate Service Award and in 2016 he received recognition for a service learning partnership in sustainability that he built between Ohio State and Hexion, Inc. a global manufacturer of specialty chemicals. Prior to teaching, Dr. Drobny founded and served as CEO of a regional environmental consulting firm and  was executive director of two small recycling organizations.

  • #25 Trash to Treasure with Cinderella Garbage

In this episode, I sit down with Kimberly Clark, the CEO and founder of Cinderella Garbage, a Montreal based jewelry company. They work with Pyrogenesis Canada Inc. to transform trash into a new kind of diamond. As in the Cinderella fairytale, they wish to expose and conciliate two fundamental images of women: the sublime beauty that catches everyone’s eye during the night versus the simplicity and strength that takes over after midnight. Cinderella Garbage is about strength and elegance.
