Peter concludes the letter with some final instructions and encouragement. In verse 12, he tells us the purpose of the letter: “I have written briefly to you, exhorting and declaring that this is the true grace of God. Stand firm in it.” For all people who will ever read his letter, Peter lets them know that God is worthy of our hope.

After looking at the internal qualities needed for a church to live in unity, Peter continues the letter with instructions on suffering. Suffering isn't meaningless. God can use it for not only our good but also for the spread of the gospel. Peter calls all believers to look to Jesus as our example of living in a God-honoring way while suffering.
