🎙️ Episode Description:
This episode with our co-founder Lindsay covers the reasons behind our recent “rebrand” of this podcast, as well as some exciting new growth of our Student-Made company– and all the lessons that come with this journey as a founder. The big takeaway? Entrepreneurship is about seizing opportunities as they arise, and always being ready to say “YES” even if what lies ahead is a big scary or unknown.

🎙️ Episode Description:
We are so glad you're with us today to hear a message from our co-founder Lindsay Reeth about a very important lesson in entrepreneurship (or really any endeavor you are pursuing) which is to lead with what you are good at. Of course our minds can be so self-doubtful and fearful and they lead us to think of what we're NOT good at and what might go wrong, but we hope this is a powerful reminder that there are probably more things you can think of that you are good at and that you know about yourself and are confident in, so put those out in front and let those lead your way! Hey, it’s Ryan here, a co-founder of SM and host of this show Student-Made Stories– and we have the full episode for you with Shantelle Silburn of FSU. She is the founder of the Jamaican inspired brand ‘Wallflower Draws.’ There are so many highlights from Shantell’s short 1 year journey with her business thus far– and we tried to cover as many of them as possible in this one episode. We hope you enjoy it, and feel a bit more inspired yourself. Before we get into this episode– I’ll just mention that our episode last week featured Shantelle reading her story for us, so feel free to check that out as well! Lastly– help us share this episode by sending it to someone you know who could use the encouragement to pursue something they love. We’d really appreciate that.

🎙️ Episode Description:
Hey, it’s Ryan here, a co-founder of SM and host of this show Student-Made Stories– and today we’re going to hear from Florida State senior, Shantelle Silburn, founder of the Jamaican inspired brand ‘Wallflower Draws’ that is spreading her Caribbean heritage throughout South Florida and her college town of Tallahassee Florida. You’ll hear how she came to officially start her business thanks to some guidance from a SM FSU manager who came to speak to one of her classes– and I think you’ll be pretty amazed by ”hit the ground running” mentality Shantelle had– appearing in numerous large vendor events in her first year of operation– including a massive Caribbean festival in Broward County FL called Colors of the Caribbean.
This is a preview for the full episode with Shantelle that will be coming out next week, so please stay tuned for that, and help us share it by sending to someone you know who could use the encouragement to pursue something they love. Be sure to check out Shantelle’s Collection linked below, and also explore Student-Made Florida State.com to see dozens of student creators growing businesses of their own with the help of their campus community!
Alright, story time– sit back, relax, and imagine yourself in tropical Jamaica or South Florida (whichever is most appealing to you), as these will both be big parts of Shantelle’s journey.

🎙️ Episode Description:
Hey, it’s Ryan, a co-founder of Student-Made and host of this show Student-Made Stories– today we have a pretty unique episode for you, because the 3 creators we’re hearing from today are not from a current Student-Made campus… but they could be in the near future. These students were part of a Feasibility Study for our program– which is an option we offer to universities where they get to test out the concept of Student-Made,, gauging the entrepreneurial spirit on campus before they go ahead with implementing our program. The campus we’re hearing from today is Illinois Wesleyan U in Bloomington, IL. And based on the findings from our 2 month Feasibility Study, I think it’s fair to say that the passion for creativity and entrepreneurship is vibrant here.

🎙️ Episode Description:
This episode will be about the evolving trend of side hustles among the younger generations– starting with 53% of Gen Z currently operating one, and a projected increase to 69% among Gen Alpha (age 1-14 years old). This puts university entrepreneurship centers in a prime position to jump on board this trend and support a HUGE number of student creatives on campus looking to scale something they’ve started. And, if you’re among these young, side-hustling generations– you're in for plenty of inspiration out of this episode. If you are listening to this on a College campus where student made is NOT present, then we would love to work with you to launch our program and help dozens of student creative student founders turn their passions into something much greater.

🎙️ Episode Description:
Today we’re going to hear from Marquette University sophomore, Tessa Hollander, founder of a super unique brand called Tailor Made by Tessa, which will give you a custom painting on an unexpected canvas. Tessa got started on this founder journey at a really young age, and had a really special support system around her that encouraged her to pursue this talent of hers. You’ll hear about how she came to work with shoes as her main canvas of choice, as well as a major opportunity to showcase her work at New York Fashion Week while still in high school– and how that trip, while understandably terrifying for a young high schooler, has propelled her brand to where it is today.
