Málaga fall at the last 32 hurdle of the Copa del Rey, as our neighbours Granada come to town to beat Los Boquerones 2-1. We look back on Sunday lunchtime’s Andalusian Derby, before we turn our attention back towards the league - and that means an upcoming home game against Ponferradina. We are joined again by Mr. Ponferradina Chris Pidgeon to talk about the upcoming Málaga v Ponferradina, as well as an update on his museum, Spanish groundhopping and meteorites over Spain.

It has been an Oviedo-heavy week for Málaga with two games against the Asturians at La Rosaleda. A 1-0 cup triumph over Oviedo last Wednesday saw Málaga into the last 32 of the Copa del Rey, where Málaga will now take on Granada this weekend. We discuss how Granada are a club that Málaga should be looking up to, whether the cup is good for Málaga and just how bloody lovely a city Granada is. However, most of this week’s pod centres around Málaga’s 1-1 draw with Oviedo and we are joined by football writer and Oviedo fan Alexandra Jonson to look back on a game that included a wonder goal, our favourite commentator and some VAR controversy.

On this week’s podcast, we are joined by Sid Lowe of The Guardian and Spanish Football Podcast fame to talk about all things Málaga and Oviedo…as well as some Michu and fathering chat. First of all though, we look back on Málaga’s first game of the season: a 1-1 draw away to Albacete - or the Queso Mecánico (Clockwork Cheese) to give them their superb nickname. We also discuss Mejias’ New Year’s Eve in Marbella, VAR v Málaga and we make our Málaga wishes for 2021.

IIIIIITTT’SSSS CHRISTMAAAAAAASSSSSSS! We have plenty of festive treats on our first ever Guiricast Christmas special, but first, we have our groans about that 0-0 draw against Logroñés. Then we have our first ever former Málaga player join us on the podcast, as Nabil Baha comes on to talk all things Málaga. Plus, we introduce our newest member to the Guiricast team, have Christmas songs and wishes from friends of the podcast and then decide our pun-tastic Málaga Festive XI.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of our listeners.

Málaga may have lost down the road in Almería, but should they have won? Nevertheless, we move quickly on and celebrate getting through to the next round of the Copa del Rey with a 4-0 away win at Coruxo. Plus, on this week’s podcast, we discuss the faults of Benkhemassa (again) and more love for the yellow shirt (again), as well as live pacharán drinking, before looking ahead to this Sunday’s game against Logroñés.

It is derby day in Andalusia this weekend and we look ahead to Málaga’s short trip down the road to Almería. We talk about our experiences in Almería, Turki Al-Sheikh’s experiences in Almería and John Lennon’s experiences in Almería, before inadvertently going into a bit of Beatles chat. Back to football, we also discussed what is going wrong for Málaga at home (after the 2-1 loss to Cartagena at La Rosaleda) the flaws of VAR and Salomón Rondón trivia.

Málaga have hit the 25 point mark and are now halfway to the safety of 50 points, after a great week on the pitch for the club. This week, we discuss Malaga’s comeback from 2-0 down with 10 men to get a point at home v Lugo, before then moving on to look back on a great 2-0 win at Estadio Fernando Torres against Fuenlabrada. Plus, we discuss who has the best/worst moustache at Málaga, roundabouts, our new favourite YouTube football commentator and we listen to Alex peruse Cartagena’s online cub shop for a Jack Harper shirt.

Was Malaga's 1-0 win over Girona their best performance of the season? The Guiricast think quite possibly so. On this week's podcast, we try to brush over our 2-1 loss to Leganés on Saturday and get straight to talking excitedly about a great Malaga win at Girona on Tuesday - and talk less excitedly about Benkhemassa. We then try to look ahead to our Friday night game against Lugo, before realising that we don't really know anything about Lugo. Plus, we talk Maradona, Harry Potter FC V Game of Thrones FC, Ramon our new golden boy, how to drink pacharán and is Escassi Malaga's hardest player?

Málaga’s pilgrimage to Ponferrada doesn’t quite go to plan and ends with a red card each for Benkhemassa and Pellicer. We look back on our 1-1 draw away to Ponferradina and discuss Pellicer’s tactics, Pellicer’s subs and Pellicer being forced to walk through the streets of Málaga naked Game of Thrones-style. SHAME! Plus there is a lot of cucumber and mascot talk, as we look ahead to our game v Leganés and the growing following of the ‘Points mean Pacharán’ initiative (and the perils of putting lid-less pacharán in your fridge).

Málaga finally wear the fabled yellow third shirt and pick up 3 points whilst wearing it. It was a profitable day at Sabadell and we look back on how Málaga won with an unlikely goal from Iván Calero and another beautiful header from Pablo Chavarría. This week, we were also delighted to be joined by the most famous guiri in Ponferrada, Chris Pidgeon - the ultimate Ponferradina fan. He explains how a walk on the famous El Camino led to him becoming a Ponferradina fan and how that led to him cycling to away days around Spain; delivering speeches to the town alongside the players and mayor; and creating his own museum in his house...oh, and there is a little bit of a Ponferradina v Málaga preview too.
