When is there too much alcohol and too little at a wedding? Or are the wrong drinks offered?

Guests not enjoying the alcohol or scavenging around trying to find a drink is not a good experience and it is also something guests will always remember and talk about.

They don’t often talk about how great the service was. I mean they might for like 24 hours after the wedding or when they tell the bride and groom how great it was. But, it’s the complaining they will always remember and talk about forever.

So here are my pointers for alcohol.

1. You do not need to offer every single drink under the sun. Guests don’t appreciate it or care. This includes spirits.

2. You only need 1 white, 1 red, 1 sparkling and a couple of beers. Guests get confused and don’t appreciate it.

3. You do need to make them the most popular so like a  Sauvignon Blanc in white wine. Talk to the venue as they will recommend the most popular and all venues offer something different.

4. You don’t need to have a TAB for spirits if you have a drinks package. You might like to just do it for your bridal party or parents or you and your partner. Guests can and will pay for their spirits if they want them. Guests know this is protocol.

5. If you have a drinks package and you have extended the finish time then you can let guests pay cash for their drinks at the end. If you are doing a TAB do that last after the drinks package. Then do cash. This is then less confusing and flows better.

6. It’s ok to NOT have drinks for the final 30 minutes. They will usually still have one in their hand or have had enough.

7. There should always be drinks poured and ready on arrival. This makes a great first impression.

At the end of the day the guests are only expecting basic so you only need that and if you are on a tight budget then just have the first couple of hours of supplied alcohol and then have cash after that. T

If someone asked you right now 'why are you getting married' would you know how to answer this question easily?

We saw all over the tabloids this week that J-Lo and Ben Affleck got married! Do you know how they did it? In Vegas, wearing their pre-loved clothing from their closet. They didn't care about all the paparazzi or any details. They just knew they were madly in love and needed to marry each other and spend the rest of their lives together.

Do you want more calm and ease in your wedding planning journey? There are 3 tasks you can review right now that will give you exactly that! More calm and ease.

Calm and ease in the planning makes for a more relaxed wedding day.

So, what are these 3 tasks?

1. Review your budget. No matter what stage of the planning you are at, you should be constantly reviewing your budget. You need to review the prices against your estimates you made at the start. You should be ensuring you are keeping your budget up to date and including everything you have spent so far so that you can ensure you will have money at the end to pay the final invoices. You should also be reviewing that what you are spending money on is actually in-line with the wedding vision you set.

This leads onto the second task to review constantly.

2. You need to review the wedding vision you should have created at the start of your planning. We cover how to create your wedding vision as the first task in the Calm Bride Planner. Your wedding vision keeps you on track and ensures you are creating a wedding of your dreams and helps you make quick decisions.

3. You need to constantly review your to do list. Within The Manage My Wedding App you will have tasks you haven’t completed or started yet. Can any of those tasks be removed because they really don’t fit with your vision? Or can they be removed just simply because you don't want to do them. Is there anything you haven’t actioned that you really aren’t actioning because someone else is making you do it and it's just not really you? This are very important things to ask yourself throughout the planning.

Do you currently feel like there are way too many wedding tasks to get through? Like, how are you ever going to get through them all. The list is never ending.

Yes, there are many tasks to get through, I am not going to sugar coat that.

But, usually we are planning around the wrong way and that is why it feels never ending and why you can get overwhelmed.

So, how do you get through all those tasks more easily I hear you ask.

1. You need to plan around the right way and in the correct order. You must bulk together the right tasks.

2. You need to finish a task as much as possible before you move onto another big task. This also helps keep the wedding style cohesive throughout.

3.  You must pick your colours and style at certain points of the planning so everything is kept to the same style. This stops you having to review and possibly do a task again later when you realise you did it too early and now it doesn't match your wedding vibe.

4. You need to be specific about what task you are working on right now and what tasks are associated with that task so that you aren't spending your final week stressed and trying to complete a task that could have been handled months before with another task.

Are you wondering what time you should start your wedding ceremony?

It isn't a simple answer to be honest. There are many components to deciding on your start time.

1. Is the start time set by the ceremony venue

2. If not then what hours do you have between to pick from

3. Does the reception have a set time and is that flexible

4. Do you want sunset photo’s and if so what time does the sunset because you have to work back from that

5. How many are in the bridal party needing hair and makeup. You may not want to get up at 5am to get the makeup started. 

6. Talk with you celebrant to ensure the time works for them also and that they don’t have other weddings on the same day

7. How long do you need for photographs

There really are so many people you need have conversations with to work out your perfect start time. Ensure you start these conversations before you hit print on those invitations. You don't want to regret your start time when it's too late to make a change.

There are 3 big mistakes couples make when wedding planning. Today I want to share with you what one of those big mistakes is.

This mistake is that I see couples working on the wrong tasks. You don't know what you don't know. Right!

You have never wedding planned before so how are you to know what you might be wasting your time on and what should be a priority.

You get engaged, then you go down the Pinterest rabbit hole. Then you spend hours trying to create the Pinterest wedding. But, you wake up the next day to only realise that guests don't care about what the wedding looked like.

This episode is truly one of my favourites because I am sharing what really the most important tasks are that you should be working on. These tasks will ensure you and your guests wake up the next day talking about how incredible your big day was.

Have you started looking at your wedding timings yet? If not, I want to tell you to get cracking because leaving the schedule until towards the end has a huge knock on affect.

How does it affect your planning and the actual wedding day.

• There are tasks you don't actually realise you need to do until you start to putting your timings together. If you leave it until too late you end up rushed and stressed.
• You need to involve many vendors in the timings and get them all onboard and that can take time as they can be busy with other weddings and not get back to you. 
• The venue can be extremely busy and if they don't get back to you it can hold you back with making decisions and completing other tasks.
• You need the timings to finalise the MC Agenda and to advise anyone helping so they know the plans and what is expected from them.

Leaving these discussions and decisions until towards the end can really make you feel rushed and that in turn causes you to maybe not finalise things properly or to not follow-up something very important up.

Are you worried that you might forget to organise something? There are so many things to do that this is a very common thought. You have so much happening, so much to think of and what if something slips your mind or you just don't know to organise something.

So, how do you ensure you don't forget anything?

Here are my tips:

1. Keep referring to the app 'to do' list and ensure you have finalised each task

2. In the lead up, ensure you allocate space in your home that is completely dedicated to the wedding. Store everything in that one space so when you are rushed you can easily find it. You don't want to get triggered because you can't find something and then you end up stressed.

3. Checklists. Have a checklist for absolutely everything. If you need additional help here, ensure you have our Ultimate Checklist Bundle to help you not forget anything. But, if you haven't got something written down, with all the things you have to remember then it's likely you will forget something.

4. Visualise the order of your wedding day so you can think of what happens in each moment and this will help you think of things you may not have done yet. Ensure you listen to this episode so you can hear me explain how this works as it's a clever little trick for your memory.
