可口可乐，哎？这个是什么饮料呢？你们可以猜到吗？

其实这个你一定喝过。

可口可乐，就是Coca-cola 可口可乐

唉，这个翻译其实还挺有意思的。

Coca-cola——它听起来首先就很像“可口可乐”这四个字吧。

这个在中文里面，我们把它叫做“音译”，通过声音发音来做翻译。音译。

但是除了通过发音来做翻译以外呢，“可口可乐”这四个字也有自己的含义哦。

可口——可口的意思就是tasty 

可乐——可乐就是funny / something interesting

所以可口可乐，就是又tasty，又funny 可口可乐。

所以它不仅在声音上和英文coca cola很像，在含义上也是一个有着很正面很积极含义的词。

中文里面的很多翻译都是这样来的，比如和“可口可乐”，“可口可乐”很类似的“七喜”。

七喜就是 Seven Up 七喜。

那么Seven就是七，up本来是“向上”，那么这边的“喜”就是一个代表开心，比如说“欢喜”、“喜欢”的这个“喜”

七喜，听起来就让人很开心这个名字。

那么还有什么呢？

比如Pepsi 

Pepsi在中文里面叫做“百事可乐”，唉，和可口可乐还挺像吧，百事可乐。

百事和Pepsi是有一点相像，对不对？它听起来有一点像。

百事的意思，就是“一百件事”。

a hundred things 一百件事

也就是很多很多事情。所以“百事可乐”就是有很多很多事情，都让你觉得很有趣，很funny。

所以“百事可乐”也是在讲有很多很多高兴的事儿，都会发生在你的身边。

哎，这些英文变成中文的翻译，是不是还挺有意思的？其实还有很多这些类似的翻译，可能我们之后再跟大家聊一聊吧。

Actually, you must have drunk this one. 可口可乐 is Coca-Cola. This translation is actually quite interesting. Coca-Cola -- in the beginning, it sounds just like the four letters 可口可乐. In Chinese, we call it "homophonic translation". Translation through sound and pronunciation. 

But apart from translating by pronunciation, these four letters, "可口可乐", also have their own meanings. The meaning of 可口 is tasty. 可乐 is funny / something interesting. So, 可口可乐 is tasty and at the same time funny. So, it's not just similar to the English (word) 'Coca-Cola' in terms of sound. In terms of meaning, it's also a word with a positive and vigorous meaning.

In Chinese, lots of translations are made up this way, such as“七喜” which is very similar to“可口可乐”. 七喜 is Seven-up. So 七 is seven; up originally means“upward”. In here, “喜” represents happiness, such as the “喜” in “欢喜”、“喜欢”.

七喜 (Seven-up). A name cheering people up just by hearing it.

So what else? For example, Pepsi. In Chinese, Pepsi is called“百事可乐”. Ah, it's quite similar to 可口可乐 right? 百事可乐。百事 is quite similar to Pepsi right? It sounds a bit alike. The meaning of 百事 is "a hundred things". That is, many many things.

So “百事可乐” means that there are many many things, all make you feel funny (interested).

Therefore,“百事可乐” actually is saying that there will be many many happy things to happen around you.

昨天我跟一位很久不见的朋友聊天，聊起了他的新工作。

他跟我说：“哎，你知道吗？我的工作是九九六。”

九九六是什么呢？听起来是三个数字呀。

的确，九九六的“九”就是指的早上九点上班。

第二个“九”就是指的晚上九点下班。

“六”指的就是一个星期要工作六天。

九九六，也就是早上九点上班，晚上九点下班，一周工作六天。九九六。

这样算下来的话，一个星期需要工作七十二个小时。

很长吧，的确听起来非常地辛苦。

那么九九六一般出现在哪些行业里面呢？

通常情况下，很多互联网公司会使用九九六这种工作制度。

因为他们的工作很忙，有非常多的任务要做，所以不得不九九六来加班。

不知道，如果是你的话，你能接受九九六这种上班的制度吗？

如果是我的话，大概是不会的。因为我觉得这样对身体可能不太好。

所以我在找工作的时候，肯定不会接受九九六这样的公司。

可是现在很多刚刚毕业的年轻人，因为要追求一个好的发展前景，所以他们不得不在这一类的工作领域里面工作。

而九九六有的时候也不是自己能够选择的，所以他们不得不来接受九九六这种工作强度。

What is 'nine nine six'? It sounds like 3 numbers. True, the 'nine' in nine nine six refers to going to work at 9 in the morning. The second nine refers to getting off work at 9 in the evening. 'Six' refers to working 6 days a week. 'Nine nine six', in other words, means going to work at 9 am, getting off work at 9 pm, for 6 days a week. "nine nine six". 今天来跟大家聊一聊珍珠奶茶。

珍珠奶茶本身起源于台湾，

是台湾非常受欢迎、很有名的一种代表性的饮品。

那么现在在中国内地，近几年来，珍珠奶茶也变得非常受欢迎，也新开了很多珍珠奶茶店。

这些珍珠奶茶店通常会装修得比较好看，所以人们在和朋友出去玩的时候，可以像在咖啡厅一样，在这些珍珠奶茶店里面稍作休息，放松一下。

那么如何来点一杯珍珠奶茶呢？如果你去点的话，会发现，哇！竟然需要选择这么多东西，有很多选择需要做。

比如你可以选择它的温度，它的温度从“非常烫”到“烫”到“温的”到普通“室温”。

也就是room temperature 室温

然后一直到“冰的”，你都可以选择。

那么冰的程度呢，你也可以选择。

有“很多冰”、“少冰”、“少少冰”或者“不加冰”等等的。

而在甜度方面，甜度就是sweetness。

在甜度方面你可以选择“非常甜”，也可以选择“标准甜”。

标准就是standard，所以标准甜：standard sweetness

也可以选择“少糖”、“少少糖”甚至“不加糖”。

如果是我的话，我通常会选择不加糖的，因为我不喜欢喝很甜的东西，所以我是会不另外加糖的。

除此之外，你还可以在自己的奶茶里面加入自己喜欢的配料。

配料就是ingredients

比如你可以选择加入“椰奶冻”

“椰奶”就是 coconut milk

“冻”呢就是果冻 jelly

椰奶冻指的就是coconut jelly。

哇哦，听起来就不错，对不对？

除此之外，你还可以选择加冰激凌。

冰激凌 ice cream

嗯，也是一个不错的选择，当然还有很多其他的配料。

那么在点珍珠奶茶的时候，你还可以选择用一些网上面的 A P P，也就是apps——a p p 来下单，这样你就不用在店里面排队了。

在a p p 上面会显示你的奶茶还有多久才能准备好，前面有没有其他人在排队等等。

这样在你有时间的时候，当你的奶茶准备好的时候，你再去拿就可以了，这样很方便。

These bubble tea shops are usually decorated quite nicely, so when people are hanging out with friends, they can rest and relax in these shops, like in a cafe.

So, how to order bubble tea? If you are to order, you'd discover, wow, surprisingly there are so many things to choose from, and so many choices to make. For example, you can choose its temperature, ranging from very hot to hot, to warm, to the normal room temperature, and all the way to iced. You can choose it all. As for the level of ice (i.e. the amount of ice), you also have a say, including more ice, easy ice, just a little bit of ice, or ice-free, etc.

Regarding sweetness ... regarding sweetness, you can choose from very sweet, or can choose from standard sweetness, or can choose from less sugar, just a bit of sugar, or even sugar-free. 脱口秀其实是从西方国家来的。

在中国其实也有一种很相似的表演形式。

表演就是performance。

那么这种表演形式是什么呢？它叫做相声。

相声是什么呢？它是由两个人在舞台上

由两个人在舞台上面讲话，通过讲话来让大家感到有趣。

有趣 interesting 

所以简单来讲，它有点像是两个人的脱口秀，两个人的stand up comedy 

相声在中国的北方非常受欢迎，尤其是在北京、天津等等的地方。

但是它对于刚刚学中文的人来讲，可能有些难，因为里面会出现很多中国的方言。

方言就是dialect 方言

所以它还是有点难的。

但是也可以尝试来听听看，可以感受一下，大概这是一种怎样的表演形式。

通常女生在自拍完之后会使用a p p 

"a p p" 也就是apps。

在中文里面，我们通常会把它叫做"a p p" 

很多人都会在自拍完之后来p图

p图这个"p" 其实是英文字母english letter 英文字母的"p"

它代表的就是photoshop，所以p图的意思就是修图photo editing / photoshop your photos——p图

那么这一步就是为了让眼睛变大、让脸变瘦等等的。

除了p图以外呢，人们还会使用滤镜

滤镜 filters 

来让自己的照片看起来更好看

现在是早上的八点二十七分，也是我要吃早餐的时间。

那么我要吃什么早餐呢？通常为了方便，我会吃面包。

面包 bread

那么我最喜欢吃的面包种类就是牛角包。

“牛角面包”或者”牛角包“ croissant

为什么我会吃面包呢？因为他们不是很烫。

烫就是hot，它们不是很烫，我又可以随时带着它们出门，边走边吃，所以非常方便。

除了面包，如果我有很多时间，我也会在外面买煎饼果子。

煎饼果子。这个是一个非常特别的、在中国北方才有的早餐，可是它很受欢迎。

“煎饼”就是pancake，“果子”是一种很脆的东西 something crispy 果子

所以我们会用煎饼 pancake 把果子这个很crispy的东西给包起来，还会加上鸡蛋 egg，以及火腿肠。

加起来就会非常地好吃了。你想不想尝试一下呢？

They're not very hot, and I can bring them out anytime, and eat them while walking, so it's very convenient. 

Apart from bread, if I have lots of time, I'd also buy Chinese saviour crepe/pancake (jianbing guozi). This is a very special, Northern China-only breakfast, but it's very popular. “煎饼” means pancake. “果子" is something crispy. So we'd use pancakes to wrap the crispy 果子, together with some eggs and ham. Put together, it'd be very delicious. Do you want to have a try?

今天跟大家来聊一聊名字这个话题。

我的中文名字一共有三个字，第一个字是我爸爸的姓。

那么在中文里面，我们通常会把姓放在第一个字。

那我名字里的第二个字呢，是我妈妈的姓。这个在中文的名字里面，并不是非常常见的事情。

可是因为我的妈妈，也想要在我的名字里面作为一部分出现，所以她也把自己的姓放在了我的名字里面。

而我的第三个字呢叫“琳”。

这个“琳”是一个“王”字旁，然后两个“木”的这个“琳”。

So in Chinese, we usually put the surname as the first character. So for the second character in my name, that is my mum's surname. This is not a very common thing in a Chinese name. But since my mum also would like to "appear" in my name, that's why she also put her surname in my name.

And my third character is ”琳”. This 琳 is with a 王 *radical， and then two ”木”(wood) to make it “琳”. The meaning it represents is "美玉" —— beautiful jade. So the meaning of my name is the surnames of my dad and mum, in addition to their expectation of me, which is to turn into a person that is as fine, beautiful and pure as jade.

我去超市想买一杯饮料，想买一个喝的。

然后呢，我就看到了一些很特别的饮料。

这些饮料是我在几年前，在超市里面从来没有见过的，他们就是气泡水。

他们也是好像矿泉水

矿泉水 mineral water

好像矿泉水一样，装在一个瓶子里面，这样来卖的。

那么常见的一些气泡水的口味，包括蜜桃味。蜜桃就是peach。

那这个词，蜜本身的意思是honey，桃才是我们的水果peach，加在一起，蜜桃就是非常甜的桃子了。

还有很常见的口味，有青柠。

青柠就是lime 青柠

这些气泡水全部都写着两个词，零糖和零卡。

零就是zero，糖就是sugar，零卡的“卡”指的就是“卡路里”

卡路里 calories

所以它想说自己是一点儿糖也没有，一点儿卡路里也没有的饮料。

我是不太信这些的。怎么可能呢嘛？卡路里一点都没有。嗯，我觉得应该是假的吧。

那这些究竟对我们的身体好不好呢？我真的不太确定。

Zero calories. um, I think it should be fake. So whether these (drinks) are good for our bodies? I really am not so sure.

So listeners and friends, if you're male, have you ever tried going to do a manicure with your girlfriend? If you had, what would you do, and would you be very bored when waiting aside? Next time you may try to accompany your girlfriend to have a manicure, making her feel less bored!
