不知道大家在早上去上班、去上学的时候，都会搭乘什么交通工具呢？

我的话，我经常会坐地铁。

地铁就是underground / subway 地铁。

那在坐地铁的时候，有很多事情都不能做。比如因为现在疫情的原因，疫情，就是pandemic。

由于现在疫情的原因，我一定要在地铁站里面戴着口罩。

mask 口罩。

所以在地铁里面就完全不可以吃东西，也不可以喝水。

因为我不可以把口罩摘下来，因为我不想影响到其他人。

我想现在大家生活的很多地方都是类似的情景吧。

那么在平时的时候，当大家还不需要戴口罩的时候，你生活的地方，地铁里面有没有一些特殊的规则呢？

我之前生活在新加坡，新加坡的地铁里面有很多规定。

rules 规定。

比如，不可以在地铁里面吃东西，喝东西，喝水也不可以，否则就要罚款。

罚款，fines。

并且呢新加坡是一个热带国家tropical country，所以他们那里有很好吃的榴莲。

榴莲 durian 

啊，想想就流口水了。

可是因为榴莲很臭，所以在新加坡的地铁上，也不可以带榴莲上车哦。

不知道大家生活的地方，都有什么特别的规定呢？你可以带榴莲上地铁吗？

I wonder what transport you would take when commuting to work/commuting to school?

For me, I always take the underground/subway.

When one's on the underground, many things are not allowed. For example, because of the pandemic, I must wear a mask when I'm in the underground station. So eating is completely not allowed on the train, nor drinking. Because I can't take off the mask, (also) because I don't want to affect other people.

I think nowadays, most places people live in are of similar situations. So during the normal times, when mask-wearing is unnecessary, are there any special rules in the place you live in? I used to live in Singapore, and there are many rules in the Singapore underground. For example, eating is not allowed. Drinking is also not allowed, or you would be fined. 

Also, Singapore is a tropical country, so they have many delicious durians. Oh, my mouth's watering just thinking of it. But as durians are smelly, in Singapore underground, durians are not allowed on the trains.

因为最近天气很干燥，而且现在是从春天变成夏天的过程，这个过程非常容易让人生病。

我们把这个过程叫做换季。

换季——那换就是更换、换一个。季——就是季节。

"A change of season" —— 换 means change; 季 means season(s)

After getting sick, it must be very uncomfortable. Basically, what kind of sickness would we get? Usually, would we catch a cold during this period? 感冒 means cold. 我得了感冒就是 I caught a cold.

I've had lots of medicine, so take care of yourself! Please be mindful to drink more water and exercise often.

勤锻炼 —— 勤 means "often, frequently". 勤奋的勤 (the same 勤 used in hard-working (勤奋))

Exercise frequently, exercise often.

And please be mindful and keep (yourself) warm. Wear more clothes.

今天来跟大家聊一个东西叫做锦鲤。

锦鲤

锦鲤呢，就是koi fish。

它是一种鲤鱼，鲤鱼就是carp，carp fish。

所以它是鲤鱼的一种。

那为什么要聊到它呢？因为如果你有用中文来上一些网，比如微博之类的话，你可能经常会见到这个词叫做锦鲤。

有的时候大家会说转发锦鲤，转发就是repost。

转发锦鲤，哎，这个是什么意思呢？

锦鲤本身只是一种观赏鱼，观赏的意思，就是欣赏，就是看看这个东西有多好看。

观赏。

所以观赏鱼只是因为它外表非常的鲜艳，颜色很丰富，所以人们喜欢把这些锦鲤养在家里来看着它，觉得它美丽漂亮。

可是呢，它还有一层含义，就是大家认为锦鲤代表着好运，特别有运气。

所以呢，有的时候大家在网上面看到某一个人，他特别好运，那大家就会来转发。

把他当做一个非常好运的象征，好像锦鲤一样，来转发它，希望能把他的好运来带给自己。

所以转发锦鲤的意思，就是想要借由这个人的好运带给自己，让自己也能变好运的意思。

转发锦鲤。

有的时候我们会看到一个人，他啊，考试考得非常好。

然后他在网上面放了自己的成绩，大家可能会把他的成绩转发一下。

那有的时候，可能有一个人他中奖了，中了一个很大的奖，那大家可能在转发的时候，就会像开玩笑一样地说：“转发锦鲤～转发锦鲤”，希望自己也能沾沾好运。

锦鲤 Koi

锦鲤 is koi fish.

It is a kind of carp. 鲤鱼 is the carp. Carp fish.

So it's a kind of carp.

So why talk about it? Because if you use Chinese on some websites, like Weibo, you might often see this word called koi

Sometimes people will say to repost koi. 转发 is to repost.

Reposting koi, ah, what does this mean?

Koi itself is just a kind of ornamental fish. 观赏's meaning is to appreciate; to see how good-looking this thing is.

观赏

So the ornamental fish, just because its appearance is very bright and rich in colour, people like to keep these kois at home and look at it, thinking it's beautiful.

However, it also has another layer of meaning. That is, people think that the koi represents good luck. With especial luck.

So, sometimes when people see someone on the Internet, that he's particularly lucky, then people will repost it.

Taking him as a symbol of good luck, like koi fish, and repost it, hoping to bring his good luck to oneself.

So the meaning of reposting koi is that you want to bring good luck to yourself by the person's good luck. It means making yourself lucky.

Reposting koi.

Sometimes, we will see a person, he, ah, he did very well on in the exam.

Then he posted his grades online. People might repost his results.

That sometimes, there may be a person who wins a prize. A big prize. When reposting, people may say jokingly: "reposting koi ~ reposting koi", hoping they can also be lucky.

学霸。

学呢，就是学习study。那霸是指的好像霸王、霸主一类的这种人。

这种用词是很多武侠小说里面会用到的一种词。

所以学霸就是指的在学习这方面不会被人打败，好像永远都不会输的这么样的一个人。

那学霸这个词在字典里面估计是查不到的，因为它一开始也是起源于一个网络用语，是从网上开始被大家使用起来的。

可是现在已经非常普遍了，几乎每一个人都会听过这个词，也会用这个词——学霸。

所以回想一下你的身边，在以前上学的时候，或者假如你现在是个学生，你的身边有没有这种学霸呢？

Recently, a lot of people are having exams. I remember when I went to school before, my deskmate was so good. 

He is always the best performing one in the class.

He is really good at studying. No one can defeat him on that.

This is the kind of person we usually call a 学霸 (straight-A student/high-achieving student ).

Straight-A students.

学 is to study. The 学 in 学习 (study). 霸 refers to 霸王/霸主(overlord) kind of person.

This word is used in many martial arts novels (Wuxia fiction).

So 学霸 is the kind of person who can't be beaten by others in his studies as if he will never lose.

The word 学霸 probably cannot be found in the dictionary, because it, in the beginning, also originated from the Internet. It has begun to be used by everyone on the Internet.

But now it's so common that almost everyone has heard and used the word 学霸.

So please recall. When you were in school, or if you're a student now, are there any students around you who are these 学霸?

Or, are you a straight-A student yourself?

Everyone jokes about having to 抱大腿 (to hug/hold the thigh) of the 学霸.

大腿 are the part above our legs, and holding thighs means "Please help me out in the exam, straight-A student!"
