Genesis:  Joseph known Egypt has great success followed by his false imprisonment where God uses him to interpret two dreams.

Matthew:  Jesus teaches about how those in authority are to use their power correctly.  Two parables are given, one of the two sons and the other of the landowner who sends finally his son.

Genesis:  Jacob meets Rachel and seeking to marry her is deceived by her father just as he had once deceived his brother.  God blesses and Jacob and his family  as his wives and their maids begin to bear him 12 sons who will become the 12 tribes of Israel.

Matthew:  Jesus teaches divorce, allowing little children to come to Him and provides an answer to the rich young ruler on how to enter the kingdom of God.

Genesis:  Abraham dies and is buried with Sarah.  Ishmael dies, Isaac and Rebekah have twin sons, Esau and Jacob.  Esau sells his birthright for bread and stew to Jacob.  Isaac lies about Rebekah being his sister to Abimelech and wells are quarreled over until a covenant is made with Abimelech.  

Matthew:  Jesus gives more instruction, calling for all to come to Him as little children with simple faith, of the lengths God will go to to save the one lost sheep as our good shepherd and of discipline and prayer.  

Genesis:  Abraham negotiates and purchases land to bury Sarah.  Abraham sends his servant to the land of his relatives to take a wife for Isaac.  Rebekah willingly returns and becomes Isaac's wife.  

Matthew:  The transfiguration of Jesus upon the mountain along with Elijah and Moses is witnessed by Peter, James and John who heard the voice of God pronounce "This is My beloved Son with whom I am well pleased." 

Job: God gives a description of the leviathan to convince Job of his weakness before it and of God's power being mightier than all.   Job humbly repents, his friends are corrected for their wrong view of God and is commanded to make sacrifices for them for pardon.  Job is restored to twice his previous state.  

Matthew:  Jesus warns of the disciples of the destructive teachings of the pharisees.  Peter identifies Jesus as The Messiah, Jesus agrees and acknowledges that He is The Messiah and must go to Jerusalem, suffer, die and be raised up on the 3rd day.  Peter is blessed by Jesus and then rebuked. .
