One of the top trending topics this week is the Baltimore Ravens’ running back Ray Rice’s domestic assault videos. These videos allegedly show him punching his then fiancé in the face, knocking her unconscious in a Las Vegas elevator, then dragging her out into the foyer. Though these two videos that depict the violence in and out the elevator take up a major piece of social media real estate, the conversation seems to centre around the battered spouse, Janay Palmers decision to not only to stand by her abuser after he got booted from the NFL, but to marry him after the assault.

 

Some said she was stick’n by for the paycheque, while others came to her defence armed with quotes from research about The Stockholm Syndrome. In this episode Todd and Marie look at Domestic Abuse in all its forms and weigh in with some tips on how to prevent getting into abusive relationships no matter what your gender. Why does stopping violence have to be so damn gender specific? Shouldn’t we just stop ALL violence?

Every year, there are new food booths at the CNE that have unhealthy foods labeled as a “must try” according to the media.

Throughout history, World’s Fairs focused on new or novelty foods that cater to taste and fun, but not necessarily health.

While some people look forward to stuffing their faces with sugar, fat, and salt laden refined products at these Fairs, others realize there are much more risks than rewards to eating this “entertainment food” .

 

Obviously, most people don’t want sacrifice good taste for health. Marie offers some alternatives to our podcast listeners that can still have fun without hurting their insides with some nasty heart clogging plate of beige-hued grossness.

It’s plain to see that the perpetrator that hacked and released these images is guilty, along with the weak security of Apple’s iCloud system but how much blame should we place upon the naked shoulders of these exposed celebrities? Should they have known better than to keep nude pics on their beloved mobile gadgets? Maybe this is just another classic case of blaming the victim. Many have asked, “Why would anyone take naked pictures of themselves?” 

Well Todd has an answer for you… “None of your god damn business, that’s why”. According to Todd, consenting adults should be able to do whatever they wish without the unsolicited scrutiny of public opinion. Since so many feel they need answers, Todd reveals a story about his own naked pictures he sent to an ex-girlfriend, what he did with the ones she sent him, and how to safely “naked pic text” in the age of technology.

In this episode Marie reveals that after doing some banking, she receives thank you cards in the mail from young male bank tellers. Is this typical bank protocol, or something else?
