Mark and Zac are back !

A new series looking at life from varying perspectives with emphasis on how certain aspects of life including past experiences have created the people we have become today.

This week Mark and Zac were joined by previous contributor and fellow outsider, Vanessa Dias . Celebrating Zac's birthday inspired the group to explore age and how it impacts our behaviour, attitude  and outlook on life.

The question of age also led to further discussion on the idea of numerology and whether numbers are significant, especially as Mark and Zac share a common connection with the number 28. 

Mark and Zac share their stories and experiences and discuss how understanding the power of 'gratitude' can open up opportunities and connections by simply being aware and  thankful for our life and circumstances.

Gratitude is an  idea that we all tend to take gratitude for granted,  as general P's & Q's were a staple part of middle class Britain, 'Thank You' was just said rather than really ever meant or felt or even understood. .  As life takes hold and we go through various challenges and experiences we become only too aware of the imbalance and delicate nature of life.

This week's podcast was broadcast live as Mark and Zac  explored 'Human Conditioning'. 

The idea that we all tend to 'follow the crowd' in order to adapt to the 'norm', which is a little strange as we are all unique creatures and come from varied backgrounds, with our own unique life experiences...

Nonetheless,  it appears important for people to feel as though they are following a predetermined path as a form of life justification.
 
This in turn can cause all kinds of reactions, including damaging our outlook, mental and physical health. 

Going against our nature is a strange thing to do, especially when you consider those who actually do follow their natural skills, abilities and interests tend to live far more balanced and rewarding lives. 

So, why do schools and other institutions insist on pushing  us away from our natural gifts ?

Rebellion is usually an outlet for frustration or disenchantment with rules, order and general 'norms' or expectations within society.

This is usually felt and expressed most openly during teenagehood and this is where  the discussion starts.

This week, Mark and Zac are joined by past contributor and follower of the show, Benny 'The Stoic Padawan' a world traveller who has just returned to his native Netherlands and back home with his parents.  A situation that resonated with Mark, who also found himself back at home, however, in slightly different circumstances. 

In this week's show, Benny shared the challenges of living and working overseas and realised that learning and using a different language and the ability to communicate in that language is an incredibly liberating feeling as well as building the self confidence that comes with the ability to express yourself in another language.

Benny also goes on to share that he also creates and writes in other languages and how this has 'opened doors' to new opportunities and that allowing yourself to be 'vulnerable' is also a great way of getting to understand your true talents and how important it is to 'let go' of all inhibitions.

One of the main reasons for our podcast show is to support and encourage those who feel the interest and desire to do something creative but haven't yet found the confidence to do so.

As creative and expressive types, we can often live too long in 'our heads' and remain hidden 'in the shadows' without giving ourselves the opportunity to just try.

This week, Mark and Zac are joined by past contributor and follower of the show, Vanessa 'The Wellbeing Blogger'. The group discuss the benefits of self expression and  being  'in the flow' with particular focus on 'Outsiders Art',  people not trained as artists but with the instinct as well as interest to release their creativity through artistic expression.

It is incredibly powerful as well as therapeutic to create art and therefore people should be encouraged to 'self express' and particularly within a safe and non judgemental space in order to find their own style and process.

This week, Mark and Zac discuss 'mortality'. Following the recent passing of Zac's father,  it seemed opportune to dedicate this week's podcast to one our biggest followers.

As creative and expressive types, we can often live too long in 'our heads' often putting 'things off' as they appear too daunting and unrealistic to start or even complete. 

It is with the awareness and realisation that  we only have a limited time to actually  do those 'things' that up until now were  present only in our imagination and possibly with a little less anxiety and greater confidence.

After all, what is the worst that can happen by trying ?

Mark and Zac also discuss the idea of 'legacy' projects and the connection that such activities can create. Having children is often the very driving factor that starts projects, in the hope that creating something for others, we become the best and possibly truest version of ourselves.

As creative and expressive types, we can often live too long in 'our heads' and remain hidden 'in the shadows' without giving ourselves the opportunity to just try.

By developing your skills and ability you are allowing yourself to grow and self express which can only be a good thing, as well as potentially getting inspired along the way by meeting like minded people.
