My stock pick is an offshore counter, it is a US listed counter that is surprisingly one of the few that is not loved by the market at the moment. It's Lockheed Martin the worlds largest defence company which boasts the US military as a big client and investors are a bit nervous around democrats cutting defence spending in the months ahead. Outside of rumours they have strong balance sheets, great quality cashflows, great earnings visibility and we are expecting low double digit US dollar returns."

Graeme Franck from PSG Wealth Sandton chose Microsoft as his stock pick of the day.

In and amongst the whole GameStop uproar I'm going to go quite the opposite and be extremely boring, I'm going with possibly the most highest quality stock in the world which is Microsoft in our opinion. They came out with numbers at the back end of last week. People do seem to say that some of these technology stocks are expensive but they continue to beat earnings expectations. They continue to upgrade their guidance for the full year and whilst that's going on and they've got very strong tailwinds we would just stick to real quality counters like Microsoft.

Viv Govender from Rand Swiss Offshore gold as his stock pick of the day.

My stock is gold, I think you can get New Gold in rand terms effectively. Its come back dramatically from the highs we saw last year on the rand/gold price.

Caroline Cremen from Adviceworx chose Bank Of America as her stock pick of the day

"My pick is a Bank of America, we saw during the height of the covid crisis that banking stocks and financials sold off quite dramatically. People were worried mainly about credit impairments and you're not seeing credit impairments being as bad as we thought because of the stimulus checks that came through. Bank of America is very geared towards consumer banking and it's very interest rate sensitive, so if we believe that interest rates have bottomed and that they're going to increase in the future, this is a very very good bet to actually invest in. And, even if that doesn't happen it has

a very consistent dividend of 2.5% and they paid that even during the lockdown."

Craig Pheiffer from Absa Stockbrokers & Portfolio Management chose Otis as his stock pick of the day

"My stock is Otis, it's a company listed in the US and has been around since the 1850s. It only really became investable as a solar company when it was unbundled from United Technology earlier last year."

Viv Govender from Rand Swiss Offshore chose Alibaba as his stock pick of the day.

"An interesting story is that around three to four months ago Alibaba CEO Jack Ma had some mild criticism of the Chinese government, which they don't allow and ever since that day he has disappeared, effectively he haven't seen Jack Ma anywhere. There was a possibility that he had been arrested or in detention and then just in the last day or so he reappearing in the market and in public and that's the reason that Alibaba jumped up almost 10% on the day. If Jack Ma had gone into the bad books of the government, Alibaba as well would have followed. So my stock pick for the evening is Alibaba"

"My stock pick this evening is Polyus, for the viewers not familiar with it, it is currently russia's largest goldminer and one of the top 10 producers globally in terms of volume. It's arguably the highest quality major miner in the world with all mines being open pit and highly mechanized which means that its current extraction of gold is at a cost price of around 600 us dollars. This is of course a great competitive advantage and I suppose no secret that I'm a fan of gold in this environment and one of the few people that believe that potentially an inflation surprise may be around the corner for the US and the globe."

Robert Towell from Sasfin Securities chose NextEra Energy as his stock pick of the day.

"We like the theme of green energy and clean energy so if you go overseas, we like a company called NextEra Energy. It's a utility which supplies electricity via wind, solar and gas and it also has an energy business separate to that. It gives you a dividend in a very difficult time with low interest rates."

Imtiaz Suliman from Sentio Capital chose BidCorp as his stock pick of the day.

"I'm going with BidCorp, you know they're a food service company and a large part of their operations are based in New Zealand, Australia and China and these countries have weathered the covid crisis quite significantly. This will provide some impetus for a better earnings outlook and the other big region is Europe and UK. I think as we get through this vaccine roll out period and those economies start picking up into their summer which is May, June and July the food industry will opens up and BidCorp will be a beneficiary of their spending

"One of the smaller property companies called Fairvest. It has very niche exposure and it's bias toward non-metropolitan areas and also convenience centres. We think in an environment where the world is battling with how quickly the vaccine roll-out will be and what the moment will be for further lockdown measures, this is a company we think that through the cycle will tend to perform well."
